I'm farming my Condensed Shadow for fletching as a 56 Ranger and I've been in this cave for hours and here is what I'm sure of :
1) Pictured here is the Shak Dratha Warlord,
the Shak Dratha drop the Shadow Substance.
2) You kill the Gor Taku Warlord to make this
Warlord Spawn. This does NOT work every
time. [2 of 7 for me]
3) When the Shak Dratha Warlord is up this
cave and the one nearest it[1st left out],
will spawn a Shak for each Gor you kill.
Of the two times it popped this way for me
one time the caves had two Shak cycles.
4) When the Gor start poppin again, kill the
Shak Warlord and start again.
There may be other ways to do this, and I'll
check back to see who posts, but this way is sooo
much better than chasing them around the zone and HOPING they repop out there. Find the cave and try this if you're tracking yourself into boredom.
Hopefully you'll get SOME XP from the Warlords while you're farming cause they both con LtBlu to me at 56 and an earlier post had them at DrkBlu to
a 45. ONE of the two will pop within 15 minutes or so and you have about 40 pops in the two caves combined.....

I have been farming Condensed Shadow for my fletching as well and after a few days of this I started to notice something about the spawn cycles. I always got streaks of either Shak Dratha or Gor Taku. In other words, I never got alternating spawns of Shak, Gor and then then another Shak (or vice versa). I also noticed that sometimes when the room was re-popping I would see all the same type spawn then suddenly the rest of the room would spawn the opposite. It suddenly occurred to me how the cycle works and was at first surprised how simple it was, because it should have been figured out a long time ago. I also realized why no one put it all together. You cannot check EQ time on the moon. So no one noticed the correalation that Shak Dratha only spawn and night and Gor Taku only spawn during the day. I tested this out again and killed specifically just before nighttime and found Gor Taku spawning and immediately upon 7 PM (EQ time) the rest of the spawns were Shak Dratha. I then tried the opposite (killing just before daytime) and had the opposite results. A few more days of testing and the results were always the same.
Shak Dratha only spawned during nightime hours.
Gor Taku only spawned during daytime hours.

As a low level (27) Ranger who just fletched to 202, I'm looking to start making my shadow substance tips.
I read in the discussion on this zone that killing the WARLORD causes all pops to alter their class (IE Gor to Shak and Shak to Gor).
Can anyone verify this? If so, I will have to ask a friend to come and assist me on the hunt.

as a 61 cleric i was exploring this little area with all the aliens, i wasunbuffed when i came across this guy, he conned green, I laughed in his face and only meleed him. He dropped so damn quickly I rounded up 10 of his little army men and Aoed them too. Fun stuff in these caves, nothing for a 50+ though :\
This guy still cons DB to a 52nd lvl Ranger out farming condensed shadow.

went farming silk in hear and came acroos this guy DB at 45 not a prob i thought i was not buffed up but reckoned it was a fair fight. he doted hard and it wasnt long before i feared him and folled him out. my hp were dropin fast so when i had to FD it was to late it was either stand and die or die from dots. i will go back and seek my revenge but i will have a few more lvls under my belt first. lol the loot looks poor too
Saw the sucker with my 51 SK while harvesting shadows - figured a DB might have something interesting - didn't drop a thing - just some pocket change.
Worse part is how good of a fight he put up - with full resists (could tell he was a shammy because he had his pet up) he was nuking and dotting the heck out of me - walked away with two bubs of health - nothing like risking a death for nothing. :(

well.....he did drop something for me when i brought him down. A BACKPACK!!!!! dissapointed

Posted: Jun 30 2002 at 7:27 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) boath drop of the less shades here i was doing a quest and was hunting the little blakc guys and i saw a less shade walk by so i killed it and he had my silk i need on it i killed more and found out there are alot of them and they have boath kinds of silk the shadling silk is not as common as the shad silk though

I spend all this time building good faction with Shak Dratha. Then Verant goes and invents Shade silk, and only puts it on Shak Dratha...
For a tailor wanting to experiment with this new addition, I was a bit torn.
Back to killing both races...

Does this guy drop anything?!
Didn't drop a thing for me but the Shak Fu Warlord that spawned in his place afterwards, dropped one consensed shadow and 3 shadeling silks.

He won't hail i got my faction to where he judge me kindly but soon as i killed to other gortaku i was KOS and now matter how many shak dratha i killed couldn't get i back. Went in there with a 54mage he tried to take him out but soon as he casted i was dead hehe he agged about 15 shaks and about 10 gor hehe Couldn't figure out why the shaks jumped me. He also roots that is why i died a bst just ain't got the hp to take all them hehe and mage barely made it only cause he had Jboots

For you lower lvl people out there. Fought him twice today 1st time had to run 2nd time my group took him. The group was 32 Beastlord, me a 35 Warrior, and a 35 Cleric.
He does hit a high of 90 and will double and quad you from the low 40's upto 90. Hard to judge his lvl since he was red, his pet was blue to me. Cleric kept pet rooted until almost the end of the fight. He is a shaman and cast a slow and dot and will heal his pet during battle (experianced from the first fight) but did not have to deal with him healing himself. Also lost the BL's pet during the fight. BL did resummon his pet fast enough to not loose much ground, thankfully. All in all didnt get anything but after all it was only one kill, cleric had enough for one last Gheal which according to her was a spec and me with one bub left. This fight seemed very long and was quite difficult as i almost died a couple times through it, with root breaking and pet messin up the heals on occasion, we probly wont be messin with him again anytime soon.

I killed him today, and as a 47 shaman, he was solid blue, his pet green, and none of the other mobs added. In fact, after killing the Warlord, his pet was still on me and the gor taku guards jumped it and killed it for me!
He is fairly weak but can hit for the high 90's but usually less, he doesn't cast much but Drowsy and some low level DoTs and DDs, but what can suck is that he casts sow and speed on himself and his pet (and all the other mobs around there). When I killed him, he dropped zip...just about 7gp. Yay.

I'm assuming he's on Shak Dratha factions so I've been killing all the gor taku I see...and since I'm blowing that faction to the wind I'm not worried about killing the loda kai for good Shar vahl factions. There really isn't an easy way to raise Shak dratha faction that I can see. sure you can camp out any cave and just keep killing them, but eventually shak dratha spawn in and fill the area...then you have to move on....repeat...move on...repeat...and eventually there are no gor taku left and your faction is still stuck at dubious to gor taku (thick skulled bunch they are) and threatening to shrak dratha (suspicious lot they are). basically it comes down to all the gor taku (at least in shadeweavers...I don't know what other zones they might be in) are too low of level to give substantial faction changes, espically when trying to raise an opposing faction (which is even harder)....so trying to get Friendly with Shak Dratha is gonna be similiar to raising cabalis faction by turning in scorpion pincers to the warlord....long...slow....tedious...slow...and very very slow....can't even buy off newbies to collect for ya :-(

I wonder if he gives a quest. I keep thinking they must have put all the opposing factions in this zone for a reason. Maybe somebody could try raising faction with Gor Taku and hail him.

well, i have killed him about 10 times (spawn is like 15 minutes or so,)(ok, so i was bored) there was another warlord that spawned in its place 2 times, although it never dropped anything. at level 56 both mobs were light blue, after killing all of them nothing ever dropped, one of these days i will go back in and kill him a few more times and see if something drops
Took this mob down first week luclin was out. At that point it didn't drop anything, which is a shame because it is slightly tougher than the Chancellor in LOIO.
