After all these years still no info on Lockjaw and how to make him spawn or what his spawn timer is? Someone tonight told me its 23 hours but I think they just said that to get me to leave the area. Any information would be helpful. Just a couple hours after 1 Lockjaw was taken out another spawned. So much for the BS that he is on 23 hour timer.

This named crocodile is much tougher than the regulars on the beach of the desert. He is usually taken down within seconds of his spawn.

I'd been killing crocs and caimans while shrouded, off and on for a couple days and I just had him spawn twice in less than two minutes on Bristlebane. So I assume that Lockjaw can spawn from any of the various crocdillian mobs on the beach and there doesn't seem to be an overall spawn time.
There are 31 crocs and caimans along the South Ro beach, including 4 swimming in the ocean. I checked respawn times for all of them -- roughly 2 min -- nothing stood out. I tried narrowing down mob type and ended up with all 31 as "a caiman", so no go there.
All I can suggest is kill crocs and caimans until Lockjaw spawns. I stood in the middle of the beach and slayed everything that walked by, spawned Lockjaw after 12 hours, got him a second time after 2 more hours. It's random.

I think his PH's are crocs on the beach. I've seen him spawn plenty leveling characters there.

Any Lockjaw sightings lately?
Just killed Lockjaw on Cornaiv Server today April 2 and got my Shammy an nice new ocean/ Croc Smelling Lockjaw Hide Vest :)

Lockjaw is still spawning as of January 2009. South Ro had only a level 13 bard soloing and my level 11 warrior with his merc, all of us hunting crocs, when Lockjaw came wandering up from the south. I don't know what made him spawn, but the only mobs being killed were caimans and crocodiles so maybe one of those was a placeholder or something. All players made sure to give Lockjaw a wide berth.

Was doing the Caimen quest to increase my Freeport faction, when Lockjaw
spawned in front of me. Killed him quickly and looted the vest as a trophy,

Took this guy down tonight with a 15 ranger a 16 Bard, 16 Cleric and a 17 Rogue.
We were all down to less than 30% health before we got him to under 20% and he turned and ran.
He dropped the vest. Cleric won the roll.

Personally, I think Mr. Anonymous is lying about this so-called "sword of the mermen". I've checked and there doesn't seem to be any evidence of it's existence.

as the druid said, he's unaffected by root, as well as snare, and i was unable to outrun him as a 41 bard with a thunderous drum of karana (really fast) ..... couldn't kite him, couldn't snare him, finally charmed some giants to kill him for me, but watch out, as he was green to me and i would have died without being lucky enough to have charm memmed

As of today's patch, Lockjaw is now The Fabled Lockjaw. Green to 50 druid but seemed to be unaffected by root as he did not slow down nor did I see a resist message. His hitpoints have been seriously uped. He was also hitting for 70+ with some as high as 120 (I had to melee as I was low on mana from sand giants). Bewarned, he's tougher now. He also dropped a NO DROP version of the glowing wooden crook called Fabled Glowing Wooden Crook. It has several stat buffs on it.

The worst is when he casts "Hint Of Shint" on you.......it does 3000hp of damage and stinks like a dead skunk........the "Hint Of Shint" spell as been known to wipe out groups of lvl 65's........trust me....be wary of that spell-You have all been warned!

The wicked nuke was cast by the Fabled during the anniversary events. The regular little beastie is still as simple as he always was (which is to say slightly underconned but not undoable).
It's tru. My 62 BST just ran up to him, expecting to kill this guy within seconds, he casted twice, pet and I both died, me w/ 5.5k hps, my pet w/ around 4k.

How can this low level creature cast a 3000 nuke? Im not saying you're a liar but i have fought this guy and i don't think he is a caster, or at least not that tough of a caster. I'll believe it though if I see a screenshot.

Last Night i was going to OOM and bang i was hit with a 3000 Nuke!! I was like WTF???.....turned arounda nd it was LockJaw!!..................I did not even know he could cast!!.........all i know is he is now even more dangerous.Maybe he is mad,cause nobody goes to kill him anymorelol

Me and a 19th lvl Shamie killed this guy last night. He went down easy and dropped the vest. It was a lot of fun so I´m going after him again.
heheh lol every time me and my friend visit oasis to kill specs and save the day from SGs I always check to see if lockjaw is up. it's really fun.. I charm him and run around scaring people, then everyone shouts like
"elle you stupid ***** uncharm lockjaw so I can kill him for phat lewtz dont make me duel you"

This is slightly more valued now by troll blacksmiths, as it can be reformed in the grobb forge into a better weapon apparently.

LJ vest aint' bad for Monkies at all. Same weight and ac as Crystal Covered Shroud, but Sta instead of Str... My Monk has both ;p

At 29 or 34 druids get charm animal and ferel spirit (pet Buff), I'm 42 now which is why I don't remember the spell level but charm animal works on creatures 35 and under... Lokks like I'm gonna have to do some pet kiteing on SG's and specters, see how well he works with the str & attack speed bonuses of ferel spirit...
I'll pobably be nice and dispell magic and snair it before Letting a lower level charecter kill it...if it survives.
But then if too many ppl flip me **** I'll just add a few buffs and DS before gateing out.

the small scarab breastplate is the best for a halfling druid, it's only for gnome, dwarf, halfling AC14 and some nice hp bonus, way outdoes this item.

That means he's the right lvl...

I know its probably an old statement. but even the SCARAB armor quest (if your a halfling) is better then this. Its ac is 14 (im pretty sure it IS 14, i know its at least 12, ut i remember thinking its the same as bronze and lighter). Dont get me wrong a lockjaw vest is nice.... but you know?
