if you are having trouble finding this guy, check the water along the NW side of the zone, i found him underwater just pathing around. he stopped outside of the zone boundary (inaccessible to PCs) and I could not target him until he moved back inside the zone perimeter.
I was standing in WW minding my own business when this guy aggrod onto me. While my pet was taking him down, Bufa (a CoV dragon) also aggrod onto me. I was max ally with CoV and never had a problem with dragons in WW before until this time.
If you're fighting him and wish to keep CoV faction, avoid doing it near any other dragons.
I now appears that the banished efreeti kills Kozz. I had been killing the efreeti for alt access flags and he spawned and stayed up. Other times I was in the zone he was only up for a little bit, and I know no one was in zone with me before he despawned/died.
Have been tracking for a few weeks and never can find him. All over the zone. I used to find him all the time a year or two ago when I helped people with it.
After a week of looking for him (after 2 chances of his 3-day spawn)I finally found him. He was wandering north, a bit NW of the Necropolis zone in. I pulled with my reverse DS and immedately went for the water to avoid adds. Fought him on shore with my 68 hammer and yalup VII, nuked several times, healed myself 2-3 times. Only took about 3k mana total.
Pretty fun and not that difficult. Now my level 50 monk has a nice new shoulder item. The turn in gives 56ish plat and some change, and about 2 blues of XP at 50.
I've been running to WW looking all over for this guy several times a week lately. I can't find him! I'm hoping he wasn't replaced by A Banished Efreeti. Has anyone seen him since the alternate Solusek Ro Tower quest was introduced?
He does indeed still spawn. The spawning and pathing in WW is terrible, apparently velium hounds and other mobs like to tunnel under the ocean. The time I "discovered" Guardian Kozzalym, he was having a box social with a variety of dragon kin and one velium hound. They popped out of the ocean floor and made short work of my surprised 52 druid. There is also a spot in one of the scars that seems to collect quite a few mobs (currently the home of Tantor and friends on Tunare).
Good to hear thanks. I started this quest when I had like 30hp shoulders and now I have Time shoulders. I gave up and deleted my parts, but it's good news to those that could still use this. :)
Guardian Kozzalym patrols from the NE corner near Dragon Sage and wyvern caves, about halfway south through the zone, then cuts west, walks into the water, where he isn't visible, but CAN aggro on you, then goes north/northeast till he hits the north shore, and walks east back to the NE corner.
Basically, he patrols clockwise and does not despawn or get killed by anything that is along his pathing. The reason people are getting the "You have lost your target" message is because you can only track an NPC for so long without refreshing the track. Any person with tracking should know this.
Claws of Veeshan assist him... or atleast they did when I tried him... maybe because they BARELY like me enough to not beat me up, so he isn't as easy as everyone has made him out to be. He himself is pretty easy, but the 2 cragwyrms and named dragon that might aggro along with him aren't!
I have watched a banished efreeti kill Guardian Kozzyln (guardian got efreeti to around 86 percent. Efreeti was not charmed or anything, I was only one in zone.
Ran into this guy today. Being a druid, I had no information about him, but since I am ally to CoV I kinda wander the zone without too much worry. He definitely didn't like my little druid butt in his neighborhood, which was unfortunate, because I had just taken a lot of time to round up 4 velium hounds and had them down to about 25 percent health. Since they go snare dumb at about 19 or 20 percent, thought it was all over but the shouting. WRONG. This guy hit me and stunned me. Got a piece of me 3 times before I took off. Since he was named and I had no information about him, I didn't want to bollix up my CoV faction so I beat a hasty retreat. I had SoE up and had no problem at all outrunning him. Also, he didn't summon me at all (prolly just dumb luck), so made it to the zone with no problem.
Anyway, trying to keep CoV faction means I'll give him a wider berth since some wandering dragon will surely jump in if I try to take him out (Flewid's addendum to Murphy's Law). Since there seems to be some question about whether he still spawns, I guess my 2cp is that he does... and at inopportune times as well....he he. Hope you have better luck with him.
The rule on summoning seems to be that unless the mob is rooted or under 95% health it will not summon. There may be other exceptions to this such as from slow's or whatever else, but as a druid at least, that is why he didn't summon.
This principle is to allow for summoning mobs to be pullable to an area for a group or raid to fight it.
This guy is soloable by some classes, but for you druids out there I give warning. He runs at soe speed (or close to it) cannot be rooted or snared. A velium hound with two complete heals can take him, but unless you have dire charm, expect to die. Once charm breaks you get eaten fast because you have no time to re-charm between summons and being beaten on. Fair warning as clerics are hard to come by in WW at night lol.
I followed this guy around the zone a couple times trying to get a couple people to help take him out. He followed a strange zig-zag path. I found him in the extreme NW corner of the zone. from there he headed almost straight east. After about half the zone he stopped for a minute then turned south to the ToV scar. Once he got there he turned back west again and followed the rim of the scar all the way around to the other side.
On the "south side" of the ToV scar he followed the lower rim all the way to (and a little past) the opening to the scar. Here he turned around and basically went west again right between the scars to the ocean. Then, in true head-scratching fashion, Guardian jumped into the water and headed due west and out of targeting range at the edge of the zone underwater. After about 15 minutes he started working his way (underwater) back up to the original spot that I found him in the NW corner of zone.
So the short of it is this: if you are trying to track him, run the coast from SG to the far NW corner. Cut south right down the center of zone and head for a nice cushy centrally-located tracking spot on the southern rim of the ToV scar. Good luck :-)
Yes He's a complete wimp Hits for 179, fast but he has no ATK at all as a 65 necro with CA3/LR5 and CS2 he missed me like 1/2 his swings, and most of the ones that hitted were under 150
Barely broke a sweat melee-soloing him (no pet, i just doted him and healed myself with Touch of Mujaki)
He summons, but rarely (maybe once a minute), he's not rootable nor snarable, no idea if he's slowable I think it would even be possible to pet tank him (send pet, heal pet), but would take quite a long time
After finding Kozz a first time, didnt have a healer and he warped. was at NE Corner of zone. then after getting my shammy there, 2 hours later found him and pulled him to a shoreline and murdered him. didnt resist anything from a 56 shammy max hit was 178 fully slowable and fully easy. just make sure ur in a safe spot where u can avoid an add for a few minutes. took about 2 and a half minutes to kill. not too many hp but enough to keep a warrior occupied for a few. Adios
I was helping my friend do this quest and decided to look for this air elemental myself with a couple of invis potions. Keep in mind, I'm very KoS to the dragons, so this is sort of a big adventure for me.
So I found him on the western shore travelling through the water (Don't ask how I spotted that out...) after I had gotten a see-invis from a druid at the SG zoneline and thought I'd pull him back to SG for killin. Man, now that is a hard thing to do! I got near DN when a named dragon finally added and figured, "Hmm, I'm screwed, time to zone!" after they had dispelled my sow and everything else. I zone into DN and during that time, I lost him! Excellent, I thought, and then my guild called OTM several minutes later.
I came back with a ranger and we finally found him on the eastern zoneline right by the wyvern cave. So we thought we were safe and we engaged him when all the sudden a weaker named dragon added. Gah! He was enough to wipe our party, but we killed Kozzalym anyways. The only unfortunate thing is, I was the last one living to loot the ore! Not the person who was supposed to.
So we rez back up and are waiting for the druid to come port us out when good ole Cargilia decides she's hungry. For being a blue con "named" she sure is a freaking badass. She proc'd her massive 1250dd + grav flux TWICE in a row. Boy does Western Wastes look purty WHEN YOU'RE 500ft IN THE AIR!!! I ended up landing for 529 damage and then was AE'd again for the last time until I was pretty much dead at that point.
I have been hunting WW for a few weeks and see him most often sailing along between DN and the Western shore, fairly close to SG zone at times. He does, indeed, seem to "wink out" from time to time and reappear, but I think he goes under the zone, since I always have SoE or Mask of the Stalker up, both have see inviso.
I soloed him finally after two aborted attempts (read dragons assisting him) with a DC bronto. He doesn't cast or dispell but does summon. An easy fight with pet as tank, just keep the pet healed and throw dots on the guardian.
He dropped the ore and 70pp and change. No faction hit.
It has been my experience with air elementals that they like to go invis, which is probably why peeps are losing them on track and thinking they are buggy. I have no firsthand experience with this mob, but I know what I know about air elementals in general.
Killed him today, im a 63 druid, and i charmed a direwolf, speeded it and sick it on him, had my lvl 35 ranger camped there to loot the stuff :) Dident give much exp :) Had around 20k hp
i found him, roaming the ne zone wall, he kind of buggy and disappears every now and again, but mostly around +3500 to +4500 / -4000, basically along the zone wall, he is normal sized, so don't think you'll see him right off the bat, he kind of blends into the snow. Killed him with chanter, druid, and me(war). Easy slowed, was more worried about getting a add then the guardian.
On server repop the other nite, after Druzzil Ro came down for the 4th time in 2 days, I decided to check and see if Kozzalym was up. My ranger was parked at the entrance to ToV. I logged on and was the first person in zone. I checked track and there he was. Guardian Kozzalym was south of the entrance to ToV. I was very happy, being the only person in zone and because i hadn't seen Kozzalym up in months. I, too, need just this piece for the shoulders. Well my joy was short lived because about 1-2mins from first seeing Kozzalym on track, I lost my target. I checked track again and he was no where to be found. I was still the only person in zone at the time. I searched the entire zone and still no luck. Kozzalym is spawning, but must be kos to other NPC's in zone and is probably getting kacked by NPCs before players are getting to do so. A friend also said she experienced the same when she saw Kozzalym on track in the southern part of the zone near SG. One moment she had Kozzalym on track. The next moment ......poof!! So, I am figuring either you get lucky and engage Kozzalym without any CoV faction NPC's near by, or wait for SOE to fix this faction problem.
Yep, decided to sweep the zone for ages... Found him up in the sea at the very southern tip of the zone. He eventually made it all the way to the DN zone.
[Mon Mar 24 02:25:38 2003] (Brell) Guardian Kozzalym says 'Halt! I protect this land with my life. You shall not obtain any Velium Ore while I stand guard!'
He's not on CoV faction, he scowls to everyone. CoV mobs WILL assist so don't fight him near any dragons! Level 55 mob, melees for about 180 max. Casts/procs a spell called FrostAOE but it did not seem to be an area effect spell. Small cold dd that I usually resisted at 150 CR. Wanders everywhere. I've seen him near the top of the DN grotton, and this time I killed him he was wandering just barely south of the north edge of the zone.
I recently got Yael myself. I also couldn't find the Guardian, so I came here to find out what the spawn time was. When I read these posts about him being broken, I logged back in and petitioned to find out if there was a known issue with the spawn. A "Guide" answered me and told me there was no issue, and that he was spawning regularly. I think he's full of crap, and we'll see this issue in a patch message soon. But maybe, the Guardian is spawning, but something else broke that causes him to be consumed by other mobs in the zone. They are on different factions I believe... Just a thought. Good luck.
