Just finished this last mob for the shammy 1.5 last night. Confirmed he is a random static spawn with no spacific place holder. Caprin wasn't up, I was hoping to take him down. It took me 3 full clearings of the area before Elite spawned in the larger church between the benches. Took him down and got my corrupt powder. Next to him was an Elite death Knight. In the room behind the church was another Elite Corrupt. There can be more than one up at a time, and they spawn randomly.
been working on my shaman epic and let me say once again .. SoE sucks AZZ!!i have spent 7hours yesterday clearing zone and 3 hours today and still there.i have had 1 to pop and he wasnt even holding my drop ... TY once again SoE for making this game a pita just for something so simple
There's nothing really to explain just head straight from the entrance and start clearing corrupted's, death knights, and magus mobs if hes not up. Paghk's vision tactic works great for scouting the area. It took me about 3 hours to get him to spawn, and hes about as tough as the other mobs in the area.
As far as caprin goes I don't know if he sees regular invis or not, but he didn't see undead invis. The regular mobs saw through regular invis but not IVU. So I was able to use an IVU potion to get right by him and kill the ECK. Be careful though one random mob did see through IVU.
I didn't find any of the following posts helpful in figuring out where this mob spawns. (I hadn't seen Paghk's post down there) The maps I had from mapfiend didn't have an area where Carprin spawn and he wasn't up to begin with so I'll give you information that will be clearer.
This mob is a random spawn off of Corrupted Knights, Death Knights, Fireborn Magus', and some other mobs you'll see if you follow my directions.
The zone in room is safe to pull to. At the first intersection you'll see a path following forward, to the left are stairs, and to the right is another path no ascending or descending. Where you need to go is straight. Just make little camp spots as you move. There aren't any twists or turns that can trick you.
The first roadmark to clue you in that you've gone the right way is a ramp. I saw a Corrupted Knight on top of this ramp. At the top of that ramp is a room, with liquid and another ramp which leads up to the right of the forward wall. This is the area where everything seems to be a place holder.
We moved up past the moat area, to a larger room filled with all the mobs I listed. They're all undead from this point on. As you kill, keep an eye out for the elite corrupter. The mobs you are killling could spawn any of these including the Elite Death Knights. Working your way in deeper you'll come to an area I'm calling the chapel. There's a trigger emote that says something about evil coming from the chappel. We ended up using the chappel as our camp spot. Took about an hour and a half and we got an Elite Corrupter Knight to spawn which dropped Corruption Powder I needed.
I hope this is helpful. Fyful Laughinghammer - Fennin Ro (Torvonnilous 4 life)
P.S. My group was. Me 71 Shaman. 69 Necro buddy, and my 68 warrior pet, played by me as well.
Took overkill group in the other night for my shaman. I can confirm Caprin does NOT see REGULAR invis. I thought it was just invis to undead, but it was our ranger that invised us right past him. No mobs in his room saw through invis but one in the room beyond did. He was a static mob on the backwall to the left so we simply hugged the right wall past him and skipped the small room behind Caprin, because clearing that room would have agroed Caprin. Glad to hear it only took people three times to clear the entier back area. We cleared 3 times and did not get him, but probably would have got him on the fourth pass. It was a total overkill group so we were sitting around waiting for spawns and got bored. Just this and Umbral Plains left my epic yay!
I was in CoD today . - I used normal shaman fixed duration invis . Carprin saw thru it (scowls) - the mobs around him did not see thru it (indifferent)
I used potion to Invis to Undead - Carprin changed to indifferent - mobs around him were still indifferent.
Was helping a guildy with this today, didn't see the spawn but Carprin was up with his lovely friends but we just used normal invis to run right past him.
I just camped my bard at zone in to track each day I logged in for the Elite Corrupted Knight. He was not on track for 5 days straight. Then, on day 6 he was on track and standing on top of the stairs directly west of zone in.
After reading posts I ran into Decay and used vision to find the Elite Corrupted Knight and he was up. Had an awesome shaman friend with a boxed mage and I had a shaman and boxed cleric for invis to undead. We cleared stairway, invis to undead, mage ran up and coth'd us to knight. Cleric gated out and we stayed in the corner and killed him. Only got one add and got the powder. Yay!!
I'd been camping this guy for my Shamans epic for the last week, 4-5 hrs a day with no luck. Today out of boredom/frustration I took a walk around the high priest's area, and took a look into the very last room and there he was, a static mob against the back wall. So although he can be one of the wandering mobs as people describe, he can also spawn in the static spots too so if you have time to clear both areas I would do so, or at least check all the spawn points.
Working on your Epic 1.5 but don't know how to go about doing it? Well, there are a lot of great guides out there for the quest overall, but for this mob in particular:
You'll probably need a group to take him down. He is, in theory, soloable, but not easily, and overkill is better than BEING killed. He's not much harder than the other knights, if at all, but if you get resists or adds, it can get ugly fast.
Here's how to check for him: Zone in, invis, then either run up to the Stairs area (straight ahead) or just click on any mob in the way or (hopefully) a xx Knight that'll be at the base of the stairs. Then, use the most-underrated SHM spell in the game, VISION, to bind your sight to the mob's point of view. F9 until you can look around the room the mob is in, and keep targeting other knights / priests and recasting Vision to explore the entire zone from the GY area. =)
If he's up, you'll need to go up the stairs, past Carpin's archway (if Carpin is up, forget about it), through two smaller roundish rooms, and then there is a ramp leading down (only slightly) to another round room that has a couple church pews in it. He'll stop in the center of this room on one end of his path. He'll stay there for a while, and then roam down the next ramp into the larger church room and into the smaller alcove area on the left of the High Priest Ultor.
There's a see-invis mob at the top of the first stairs, another to the left of Carpin's Arch (Carpin probably also sees invis), roamers that MIGHT see invis, and several see-invis in the first room the Elite Corrupted Knight will stop in, so I killed the 1st mob, invis'd past the 2nd (and a whole lot more), then set up camp in the round room just before the 1st stopping area (where the pews are). He was a pushover but I was glad I had backup! Good luck!
We spent 3 hours clearing out the entire area past the stairs with a full group, every single mob, was pretty tedious and boring. But eventually he spawned near the end of that area.
The others cofirmed that, let me confirm something else. He is a RARE spawn. Cleared CoDecay's upper floor from front to back three times before we got one, and we in fact were about to leave.
I'm fairly certain the powder is for Shaman Epic 1.5/2.0, seeing as this is part of our epic text
Quote:
The powder is very unique and can be difficult to obtain -- many have died trying as it's a coveted magic. There is an undead fiend that uses this powder to turn many creatures and darken them. It is a beast in a sickly plane which makes it that much more challenging, of course. This powder is needed so that we can use a pinch of it to attract the Spirit of Might close enough to us to have it turn its back on the path of the wasichu.
