Clear the guys around him before you pull. All of these beasts are social and sometimes run off to get help. If you pull from the edge and work in, they are less likely to get help. A bad pull can get five or more mobs if they have others they can call.

Maybe I was unlucky but I had to clear all three PHs about 10 times each, plus loads of the cubs to fill in the time, before Crag finally popped.
The Vilefeaster, who spawns in the same sector, popped after a total of 5 PH kills, much more sociable.
This certainly cleared part of the Master Hunters Challenge quest, with loads to spare.

Killed him in NE corner of zone, 5 minute fight @ 13804 DPS (3 clerics to enusre sucess LOL). BST slowed, & group was 93 BST/93 Merc tank, 91 MAG w/91 Cleric merc, 91 CLR w/91 Cleric merc. Dropped pet power earring and T1 feet;

I had him spawn 3 times from the veridant kangoon in the corner near the wall. Not sure if all the non cubs can spawn him.

Managed to kill him with a couple mages in HoT T1 gear (~40k hp buffed @ level 96) and a cleric merc. His AE hurt for my gear level, but didn't really have too many issues once I moved in closer to the mob. Not sure how hard he hits, but he barely put a dent in the 96 air pet with EM8 focus with the merc healing it...

Drops an Enhanced Minion 12 Earring, commonly. Rarely a slot 3 version. Droppable like everything in this zone. Made my 96 air pet con yellow to me @ 96

Oh and I've seen him pop in a number of places, would not be surprised if every kangon was a placeholder... have seen him pop more in the area southerly and eastern than what is shown above on the map, happy hunting
