Background

I am a freelance Senior Software Engineer and Database Administrator, had to work for most the biggest european telecom companies, as Marconi Communications, Telecom Italia, Isocor, etc.; I also had the luck to work with the team involved in making the european optical fibers infrastructure: most likely, even it have been some year from that, most of the european IP traffic is passing through some hardware I had written the driver for.

As DBA, I usually work in the real time industry, it means my job is fine tuning and localization of the hot spots who can lead to performance degrade in the future. Man, I really wish that MySQL, one of these days, will make something good as the SQL Server Profiler. Too much time wasted on logs there, and third-party MySQL profiling products are still poor, compared to that. UPDATE! Under Oracle's hands, a new optimized sql analyzer has been released! Time to check it under stress!

About my gaming past, I am still the holder of two world records, listed in Twin Galaxies scoreboards, and a third place, about some coin-op machines of the 80's era. I love MMORPGs, and I was involved there just from the starting era of the MUDs, and even before, I also done email-based role playing games. I'm sooo old, I know...

Right now, I am involved in Aion (Europe) and some GW2 testing.

Needless to say, I am also an Anime fan (yep, I ruined the image of the serious guy I tried to make up!), the series I enjoyed a lot were: The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, Lain, Fullmetal Alchemist, Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien, Cowboy Bebop, FMP, and a lot of other series, just can't put here the full list without flooding this page :) The character who intrigued me the best was Re-l from Ergo Proxy, I definitely LOVE her eyes makeup!
