Ajido-Marujido : Oh! Roadblock!
What are you doing here? Come for a visitaru with the boy-genius of Windurst, have you?
Ajido-Marujido : I'm sorry to inform you, but I have a super-confidential meeting to attend. No time for idle chin-wagging!
Ajido-Marujido : What's the meeting about? Well, if I told you, it wouldn'taru be confidential now, would it?
Hmm... maybe you should just come along.
Accompany Ajido-Marujido to the meeting?
Ajido-Marujido: I figure you've earned your place after last time.
Come along, then. No dawdling!
In Heavens Tower, you climb the stairs with Ajido-Marujido...
Ajido-Marujido : Look... the War Warlocks have gathered in secretaru!
Ajido-Marujido : Hm? You thought we were invited to this meeting?
Don'taru be absurd.
Ajido-Marujido : A potential Wise Wizard such as myself must master the art of reconnaissance!
Ajido-Marujido : And I also had to see what kind of goodies the grown-ups get to eat at these hush-wushy get-togethers...
The War Warlocks are sitting in a circle, talking...
Robel-Akbel : It appears everyone is in attendance.
Robel-Akbel : I'll cut right to the meat of the matter.
Windurst is facing a crisis she has not known since the federation was first founded.
Robel-Akbel : Fort Karugo-Narugo stands as our last line of defense.
Robel-Akbel : And that is why I intend to make a request for San d'Orian reinforcements.
Kayeel-Payeel : You would grovel before the Royal Knights?
Those pointy-eared prance-abouts have been our mortal enemies for generations!
Robel-Akbel : We are now a part of the Allied Forces.
San d'Oria is a nation of proud warriors -- their aid would be invaluable.
Zolku-Azolku: B-but...
Lutete : (Yawn)...
It's all the same to me...
Robel-Akbel : Master Caster Pattna-Ottna of the Taurean War Warlocks.
Robel-Akbel : It will be your duty to make the request for reinforcements to the Royal Knight General.
Pattna-Ottna : S-sir, yes sir!
Robel-Akbel : And since I detest sitting around sucking my thumb, I intend to execute my aforementioned strategy...
Gariri : You mean... that strategy?
The one where you storm Castle Oztroja?
Kayeel-Payeel : Insanity!
You would do better rally-wallying the Mithra Mercenaries and seeing to the defenses of the city, rather than wasting lives on a hopeless assaultaru...
Robel-Akbel : The Mithra will remain here.
I shall be taking only my personal guard.
Kayeel-Payeel : !?
Zolku-Azolku : But, Warlock Warlord, even with your formidable powers...
Robel-Akbel : Your concern is touching, but misplaced, Zolku-Azolku.
Robel-Akbel : Zonpa-Zippa!
Robel-Akbel : I leave command of the city defenses in your hands during my absence.
Zonpa-Zippa : Ahahaha! And such capable hands they are!
So capable, you needn'taru even bother coming back!
Robel-Akbel : Master Caster Kamolo-Domilo of the Sagittarian War Warlocks.
Kamolo-Domilo : Sir.
Robel-Akbel : Your duty shall be to command the defenses of Fort Karugo-Narugo. The Tigress Volunteers and the Cobra Mercenaries will be dispatched to provide a sizeable fighting force.
Kamolo-Domilo : ...
Robel-Akbel : Are you displeased with your assignment?
Kamolo-Domilo : N-no, sir.
Robel-Akbel : If something should befall the enchanted walls, the fortress will become vulnerable.
Situate the mercenaries in key locations to repel any sudden assaults.
Robel-Akbel : "He" shall serve as your advisor.
You may see more cooperation with a suitable intermediary.
Robel-Akbel : These orders are effective immediately.
To your posts.
Ajido-Marujido : Oho, this was a most successful reconna--
??? : Well, now!
Ajido-Marujido : Wha--!?
Zubaba : I see we have a pair of snoopsy-woopsy interlopers!
Ajido-Marujido : I-I was justaru practicing my information-gather--
Zubaba : Silence!
This is no place for children!
Out with you!
Kamolo-Domilo : What could the Warlock Warlord possibly-wossibly be thinking?
Does he mean to hog all the glory for himself again?
Lukka-Lakka : Glory?
He'll return to a city of smoking ashy-wash and ruin if he leaves it to the mercy of the Theocracy.
Kamolo-Domilo : This cravy-waving to be on the forefront of the action is insufferable!
I don't care if he is the Warlock Warlord.
Kamolo-Domilo : His policies have our fair city crawling with Mithran mercenaries.
And he speaks of sendy-wendy for even more reinforcements from Olzhirya...
Kamolo-Domilo : As if that weren'taru bad enough, now we have this request for Elvaan reinforcements.
Has his thirstaru for conflict blinded him to the consequences of his actions?
Kamolo-Domilo : I can'taru let this madness continue.
Your day will come soon, Robel-Akbel...
Lukka-Lakka : ...
Meanwhile, in a small room in Heavens Tower...
??? : Hmm, not bad... Things appear to be prrrogressing to plan.
I hope nothing has been forgotten...?
Robel-Akbel: Do not underestimate the shrewdness of the Yagudo.
They will ruthlessly strike at any weakness in the fort's defenses.
Robel-Akbel: But if we can strike a mortal blow in the meantime...
Robel-Akbel: I am willing to make sacrifices for the greater good.
??? : Oho. How rrreassuring.
Robel-Akbel: There is one for whom this must be done...
??? : Let's see if your bite is as ferrrocious as your bark...
At the gate, in Windurst Waters (S)...
Dhea Prandoleh : What are ya doin' lyin' around, brrrat?
Ajido-Marujido : Oh!
Dhea Prandoleh : Don't ya rrremember what day it is!?
Ajido-Marujido : That's right!
The professor...!
Dhea Prandoleh : He's leavin' through the Windurst Waters gate.
It may be the last time ya see him in one piece, so ya better give him a prrroper sendoff!
Ajido-Marujido : R-right!
Koru-Moru : Please take good-dang-doodily care of the kids while I'm gone-aroo.
Romaa Mihgo : You've got nothing to worry about.
That Ajido-Marujido handled himself prrretty well back there at the fort. Speak of the devil... Rrrest easy, we'll make a man out of him, you'll see.
Koru-Moru : Oh... diddly...
Ajido-Marujido : ?
Koru-Moru : Now Ajido, I'll be absentified for a time, so don't go making a noodling-nuisance of yourself, alright-areeno?
Koru-Moru : Ah, good to see-aree you again.
My duties take me to Jeuno, and I'd be most tank-rankingly-thankful if you could keep an eye-areeno on this troublemaker.
Koru-Moru : There's a research effort in pin-diddly-progress to alleviate-aroo the food shortage caused by the war.
Researchers from across Vana'diel are gathering to offer their ding-doodily-ieas.
Koru-Moru : I've been personally invitified to participate-areeno.
I must do my bang-bingingly-best so that children like Ajido can grow up to be healthy and strong-aroo.
Ajido-Marujido : Don'taru you fret about Ajido-Marujido!
By the time you return, I shall have become a resplendent War Warlock!
Romaa Mihgo : I'm sorry I can only spare a couple of kittens to escort you to Jeuno, Professor.
Romaa Mihgo : I'd prrrefer to have some more seasoned mercenaries guide you on the trip, but...
Romaa Mihgo : His High and Mightiness, the Warlock Warlord, isn't shy about rrrequisitioning my troops.
Most of my girls were just hustled off to rrreinforce Fort Karugo-Narugo.
Romaa Mihgo : Tihl! Mihl!
Tihl Midurhi : Ma'am!
Mihl Pakorhma : Yes, ma'am!
Romaa Mihgo : You two are charged with seeing the professor safe to Jeuno.
No sidetrrrips!
Mihl Pakorhma : No prrroblem!
Tihl Midurhi : (Sigh)...
(Show some rrrespect, will ya?)
Leave it to us, boss!
Koru-Moru : Ahaha, I may look a little soft-diddly-droopy around the middle, but I'm still an elite graduate of the Aurastery.
I'm not so hang-doodily-helpless as all that!
Koru-Moru : I must be off.
Farewell-areeno!
Romaa Mihgo : Windurst will be safe in our paws!
Romaa Mihgo : Hmmm... I don't know about those kittens.
They haven't even cut their teeth on an enemy yet.
Ajido-Marujido : Maybe I should go with them?
Romaa Mihgo : Don't be foolish. The professor'd just have to turn around and brrring you home.
Ajido-Marujido : ...
Romaa Mihgo : This seems like a job for you, PLAYERNAME.
Could you chase them down and make sure they rrreach Jeuno safely?
Romaa Mihgo : Once Tihl and Mihl see the professor off, tell them to join the rrrest of our unit at Karugo-Narugo.
Tihl Midurhi : I already told you, we brrrought the professor here from Windurst on official rrresearch business...
Irwyn : The Duchy of Jeuno, ruled by Archduke Kam'lanaut, lies beyond this point. I have orders to prevent entry to any unauthorized travelers. Do you have any papers that document this official business?
Koru-Moru : Oh, you tig-taggily-tagged along, did you? It looks like you're just in time to joinify us for the return trip-aroo...
Irwyn : You, there. That's far enough. You must possess the proper identification before being permitted entry into Jeuno.
???: Excuse me, coming through... Ah, I thought so! Professor Koru-Moru!
Koru-Moru : Y-you.... you're Rasusu!? (She's as bing-bangingly-beautiful as an angel-areeno...)
Rasusu : I figured from your letter that you'd be arriving sooner rather-wather than later.
Koru-Moru : And here I am! I would traversify a thousand times the diddly-distance to make your acquaintance...
Rasusu : This esteem-weemed personage is Professor Koru-Moru of the Windurst Aurastery, and an honored guest of our research effortaru.
Irwyn : I apologize for the harsh treatment, Professor. Welcome to Jeuno.
Rasusu : Yes, welcome, welcome! I'm so glad to see you've arrived safely-wafely. And you were the professor's escort party? A job well done. I am Professor Koru-Moru's...
Koru-Moru : G-girlfrie--
Rasusu : ...colleague, Rasusu. Nice to meet you!
Koru-Moru : ...
Rasusu : I mustaru introduce you to the rest of the research team! Come along, Professor.
Koru-Moru : This is where we partify ways. Keep your ting-tangily-tails out of mischief!
Mihl Pakorhma : Sir, yes s--er... Professor!
Tihl Midurhi : That was... uneventful. I think I'm suited to a rrriskier style of mission. You know, storm the enemy base, stealth and assassination, that sort of thing... The fun stuff that the mercenary majors get to do.
Mihl Pakorhma : Something you can sink your claws into! How did it go again? You wanted to impress the prince of a foreign nation with your dazzling swordplay, enter into a forbidden rrromance, then become a wealthy princess, rrright....?
Tihl Midurhi : What... what about it!? A girl can drrream, can't she!?
???: Oh, I say, can anyone help me!? Anyone at alll?
Tihl Midurhi : ...?
The mysterious figure is a tall Elvaan male fighting a scorpion nearby....
Tihl Midurhi : Would you look at that! You don't see that kind of prrretty down south! Mihl! PLAYER! We've got to help him!
Mihl Pakorhma : Are you serrrious?
Rachemace : Oh, I say, jolly good show. I was about to become afternoon tea for that beast. And what fortune to be rescued by such enchanting maidens.
Tihl Midurhi : Hehe. You rrreally should be more careful out here in the wilds, you know!
Mihl Pakorhma : Tihl... One handsome face and we've lost her...
Tihl Midurhi : Speaking of which, what brrrings you out here all alone in the first place?
Rachemace : I am actually part of a San d'Orian reconnaissance party. Was Am. Er.... Ahem. To cut a long story short, we "acquired" one of those Yagudo one hundred eight-knot quipus and the feathered fiends were none too pleased... They chased us down, and in the ensuing chaos I was separated from my unit and had the quipus stripped from me. I then had the misfortune to come across that creature...
Tihl Midurhi : A trrragic tale...
Rachemace : A quipus may contain vital information on troop movements and the like, and we were on our way back to San d'Oria to have it deciphered.
Tihl Midurhi : If... if you don't mind, we'd be happy to help you get it back.
Rachemace : Oh, I say, that's jolly decent of you!
Mihl Pakorhma : Er, Tihl... shouldn't we be getting back to Fort Karugo-Narugo...?
Tihl Midurhi : How can you say that!? Do you mean to leave this delectable -- er, distrrrressed soldier to the whims of fate!? (My instincts are telling me we're on to something big. And if this information is as important as I think it is, we could be looking at instant prrromotion to mercenary captains!)
Mihl Pakorhma : (Rrrreally? We won't just have our hides skinned by the boss for defying orders?)
Tihl Midurhi : Assuming we manage to "salvage" this quipus of yours, would you be willing to share the deciphered information?
Rachemace : Of a certain! There is no reason why this information should not be disclosed to our courageous allies. Your generous and noble words have impressed and captivated me, fair lady!
Tihl Midurhi : Oh, stop now... Ahem. Well then, time to get to work! Mihl, PLAYER, let's split up and find this one hundred eight-knot quipu! We rrrendezvous here at this gate!
You find the quipu, then return to the Jeuno gate.
Rachemace : Oh, I say, you found it! Jolly good!
Tihl Midurhi : Grrreat work, PLAYER!
Rachemace : My thanks-- to all of you! I am overcome by Windurst's compassion.
Tihl Midurhi : Time to head to San d'Oria! Um... how exactly do we decipher this thing, anyway?
Rachemace : A simple matter. I am acquainted with a friar who has a contract with a beastmen interpreter. I plan to have this interpreter unlock the mysteries of the quipus's knots.
Tihl Midurhi : An interprrreter, huh...?
Rachemace : Is our merry band ready to go? This way to the kingdom of the red lion!

Pattna-Ottna : Wait, aren't you ladies members of the Cobra Unit...?
Tihl Midurhi : Who wants to know...?
Oh, it's Taurean Master Caster Pattna-Ottna!
What are you doing here!?
Pattna-Ottna : Now that's an interesting story.
You see, I was sentaru here to request Royal Knight reinforcements...
Flashback to inside Chateau d'Oraguille
Pattna-Ottna : I come before you to formally requestaru Royal Knight reinforcements for Fort Karugo-Narugo. Our beleaguered federation humbly-wumbly begs for your aid...
Yrvaulaier S Cousseraux : I understand your situation, and I would dearly love to be of assistance.
Yrvaulaier S Cousseraux : However, the logistics involved in preparing troops for cross-continent travel...
Yrvaulaier S Cousseraux : I am afraid it would be most impossible to find a unit capable of undertaking the journey at such short notice.
Ashmea B Greinner : General Cousseraux.
If I may be so bold, I believe my own unit would not be incapable of making such a trek...
Yrvaulaier S Cousseraux : Out of the question! Your troops have an important mission before them.
Yrvaulaier S Cousseraux : I will abide no unnecessary impediments to our plans for the Sauromugue Champaign.
Yrvaulaier S Cousseraux : I hope you understand my position, Master Caster.
Yrvaulaier S Cousseraux : Please inform your Warlock Warlord that the Royal Knights will do what they can. However, nothing can be promised at this time.
Pattna-Ottna : ....
End of flashback
Pattna-Ottna : And that was the endy-wend of that.
Tihl Midurhi: Huh... Um, actually, isn't this kind of talk confidential or something?
Pattna-Ottna : It's no secretaru.
And I appreciate having a shoulder to gripey-wipe on.
Pattna-Ottna : I'm afraid the Elvaan bear a grudge for the time we ruled the continent -- their pride preventarus them from lending us the help we need.
Rachemace : ...
Rachemace : Sir Joseaneaut, the Temple Knight I spoke of, is currently staying in Squire Alley. Let us be on our way...
This cutscene can be viewed in game by talking to Zidalf at (H-8) in Southern San d'Oria (S). Select the cutscene "Knot Quite There (pt.2)".
Joseaneaut : Rachemace!
How glad I amm to see you safely returned.
You were reported as missing by your unit. And who might your companion be?
Rachemace : These fine individuals are citizens of Windurst that extricated me from a rather harrowing predicament.
Tihl Midurhi : So honest and humble...
Mihl Pakorhma : Tihl, give it a rrrest...
Joseaneaut : Well then, I offer up my most heartfelt gratitude.
May the Goddess watch over you all...
Rachemace : Joseaneaut, I actually come to you with an urgent request.
Would you by any chance be able to decipher this Yagudo rope message?
Joseaneaut : A rope message?
Perhaps my Goblin friend will have some insight.
Leada! Could you take a look at this?
Leadavox : A gold piece for the guide.♪
A gold piece for the Goblin.♪
Joseaneaut : Can you decipher these knots?
It appears to be some sort of Yagudo code...
Leadavox : Leada is as bright as a box of brass tacks. Piece of crab cake.
One gold beastcoin each.
Joseaneaut : Very well, but allow me to collect the fee a little later.
It seems our guests are in a hurry.
Leadavox : You got no business sense, Josea.
Well, I'll get my gold one way or another.
Let's see this rope...
Leadavox : Hmm... hmm?
Somethin' about magic gear?
Joseaneaut : Magical equipment?
Leadavox : Gear that makes magic useless.
The Yagudo have made some, it says.
Joseaneaut : The Yagudo have developed equipment that renders magic ineffective!?
Rachemace : Magic-resistant armor?
San d'Oria also once attempted to create such equipment in our own conflict with Windurst...
Have the Yagudo been successful where our artisans have failed!?
Leadavox : There's more.
"Manifest, lead us to the city.
Windurst... will fall."
Joseaneaut : Windurst will fall?
A prophecy, mayhap?
Tihl Midurhi : Ugh, gives me the chills...
Rachemace : This is ominous news.
It seems those Royal Knight reinforcements are even more vital than our Tarutaru friends anticipated...
Joseaneaut : Reinforcements? What talk is this?
Rachemace : It seems a request was made recently...
Joseaneaut : And General Cousseraux refused this request?
How callous...
Rachemace : Joseaneaut.
I mean to somehow convince the general to reconsider his decision to lend troops to our allies.
Rachemace : And if it means aiding my newfound saviors, I will travel to Windurst alone, at the cost of my knighthood...
Joseaneaut : Though I hold little sway in military matters, I shall add my voice to your plea.
Joseaneaut : And I think it best that you return to Windurst.
It will not help our cause if we are thought part of some Tarutaru conspiracy.
Tihl Midurhi : I'll never understand politics...
Joseaneaut : One moment.
Please accept this platinum beastcoin as a token of my gratitude.
May it alleviate some of the cost of your journey.
Walking away...
Mihl Pakorhma : Looks like your nose for trrrouble landed us right in the thick of it, Tihl.
Mihl Pakorhma : Is Windurst going to come through this okay, you think?
Maybe I should be making plans to board the next ship out...
Tihl Midurhi : Bite your tongue.
Magic-rrresistant armor isn't gonna help the Yagudo against Mithran blades and arrows!
Mihl Pakorhma : I guess you're rrright.
Hmm, I wonder if Rachemace and his friar buddy will be alright.
Tihl Midurhi : I'm sure they'll be fine.
I mean, how could anyone rrresist the charms of two such handsome lads?
Mihl Pakorhma : Those Royal Knights are a stubborn lot according to the Tarutaru.
I hear they put people to the sword for stepping out of line.
Tihl Midurhi : P-put them to the sword!?
But that would be such a waste!
Tihl Midurhi : We gotta hurry back to Karugo-Narugo and rrresport to the boss!
Mihl Pakorhma : Yeah, about time we were heading out.
We'll see you there, PLAYER!
