I've got a ranger who did the Xyfl scale quest. Any decently-levelled ranger, monk, rogue, or halfling can do the quest. One of the Shackle quests out of Cabilis East details this pretty thoroughly, but I'll summarize what I did.
I dropped down to OT with carnelians in tow. Camo'ed up and ran to the narrow tunnel where you can approach Tektite from the rear. If you're not a caster with this spell, bring a friend or buy a potion. Turned on Sneak, and crept up. I clicked to trade until I found the further point away that I could make the trade, and handed him the two gems, unstacked. BING!
Of course, the downside was that some NPC nearby noticed me, aggroed both gargoyles, and I got killed. Camo, /corpse /corpse /corpse, loot at book, and leave.
I've been trying to buy the remaining scales in the Bazaar. I've got Azdalin's, but not Gylton's. How do I know which one I have? If you have a Magelo account, just synchronize and look at the item properties. Magelo's database will tell you the 'true name' of any item.
Don't have Magelo? Get it.

you can always start an alt that is a DE or other evil race/class that won't get killed at the OT outpost......OR you can work out a deal with someone of an evil class/race......if they have the first 2 scales also...."evil" person do the OT part of the quest for both of you and "good" person do the FV part of the quest.....OR get a friend that is an evil race/class to do the OT part of the quest......LOTS of options
The guy is Lord Lyfx of Burwood.
Lyfx = Xfyl. Burwood = Burning Woods.

There is no wurm named Xyfl, the scale is from temple os Sol. You can either do the quest involving tektite, or you can kill Lord Lfyx Of Burwood right there on the spot and get your scale(at least you used to be able to do this) Don't spend time in BW if you already have the scales from gylton and azdalin, you won't find the third one there. Xyfl doesn't spawn as best I know it. To get Tektite make a lvl 1 evil race and have them turn in the Carnelians. Only bad part is Tektite is No Drop so you must get it too Sol on your own for the Multi quest or you can ask an evil friend to do that part. I made the lvl 1 ogre and it wasn't hard at all just got a sow in PoK first.

I must have done the wurmslayer quest around 20 times now and have hunted in burning wood for around 10 levels or so. I have yet to see this named wurm around. Talking to the dude in the temple of solusek ro seems to be the only way to get your hands on the third scale, although, it may not always have been.

could a 57 and a 42 shaman do this quest with no probs. im the 42 shammy dieing is no biggy). can me and my buddy just kill al thses wacked or monsters to get the scales?

hm... well, you could turn the crud into the named gargoyal if you have ok faction, that you could do, as for killing the wurms, i dont know that much about a shamans fighting abilities, so id say maybe, but youd probably want to get one of your warrior buds to help out, s/he wouldnt need to be that high, somewhere around 45, give or take

This is a rare spawn... only once in a blue moon kinda thing. If you bother to go to the Lord and quest the scale you'll finish off the wurmy quest faster.

First step buy 2 Carnlines hand to the named Garg "Tektite" he hands you a Tektite take that and one peradot to temple ro hand to the Elf Lord you get Xyfl sclae its not off a wurm so dont bother looking for it in burning woods.

The bit about the carnelians and the Elf Lord are true, but you can also kill this Dragon, Xyfl, and get the scale. Verant gave us two options, i'm more of the fighting type anyways ;).

So, does this guy or doesn't this guy spawn in the Burning Woods? I've never seen him (the wurm), I've never seen any comments from anyone else who has killed him (or seen him) for the 3rd dragon scale. Does he really spawn? If so, how often and where in the zone. Or is this just an entery into the mob list that isn't suppose to be here?

He is in the temple because he is questable. IE Give him a couple items and he give you a scale. Peridot and an Item given from a Garg in overthere. (bracer of bronze quest)

Yes, The scale he drops is the one for the Quest.. Easier was to get the scale if you don't mind the faction Hit with the Temple..

I don't know about Xyfl, but I've seen the Elf lord's form in the Temple of Solusek Ro. His name is Lord Lyxfl of Burwoods. He dropped a dragon scale when we killed him the two times today.

2 candy looking gems, both running about 1 pp per, ya give them to the stone garg in the out post, its the one on th left as ya leave the place, and he gives ya his eye.
