you don't need a rogue shroud. Just look up your quests on alla and put what you need to say to the npc on a hotkey. Go up to the npc un invised and click your hotkey.

didnt work as an iksar necro
he is on stillmoon kobold faction but.. you don't need faction to do the icefall quests .. Just use goblin shroud and sneak to change faction

Has anyone confirmed the faction Malgen is on? I would like to do this quest for my Cleric. Would be kind of worthless to me as a mage, though.

What faction do you need to get quests? And can you just bring a chanter to charm him so he's indiff, clear the room and get the quest?
There is 2 oposing factions: Coldeye clan (orcs) and Nightmoon Gnolls (the kobolds?).
Malgen wont talk to you if you have low NG faction (spent a few hourse exping on his mates, thats why).

Locate the haven of the direwolf elder
Locate the haven of dire wolfs
Kill 5 dire wolfs north middle of map
Kill 3 Dire wolf elders
Kill 3 Coldeye wolf tenders which are to the right of wolf camp
Talk with Malgen
won on necro got a Arcane Wolf Familiar which you cant have a reg pet out at same time i thought was gimp but does mana regen by 6 and dodge by 20pct

Kobold caves are in the western valley of Icefall, his cave is southeast of the wizard port platform. When you get to the cave entrance, go left and to the back to find Malgen.
how about some help with getting faction for this quest?
I have been killing Orcs for faction. The two faction hits are "Your Faction Standing with Coldeye Clan got worse" and "Your faction standing with Nightmoon Kobalds got better" I am betting (rather counting on) the Nightmoon Kobalds as the Faction Malgren is on...remains to be seen...
the posts have mentioned both stillmoon kobolds and coldeye orcs to farm the faction needed for Malgen's favor, are you saying both will work? or is it just one of the two mob types? I thought the shroud thing was a bug and is no longer effective in this quest....and if a blonde moment has caused me to miss something entirely, please disregard, thanks!

wait, nevermind, answered my own question, malgen is a kobold, he's not going to want his own kind, the stillmoon kobolds, to meet a sad end at the hands of a rooting, dotting, and kiting chanter, but could probably care less if that same chanter has to spend the same nsane amount of time charming coldeye orcs against eachother, hehe.... Thanks for the info!
