You say, 'Hail, Eric Von Schnelling'

Eric Von Schnelling seems to creak as he moves. He gives off the air of one that has lived well beyond his years but still has shining bright eyes. He smiles at you, 'Welcome to my humble, temporary and spacious residence. Please, make yourself at home. Feel free to drink my wine and eat the candies that have been given to me out of love and friendship by the Master and his many minions.'

You say, 'master'

Eric Von Schnelling says 'Him? He's a good guy. He is the only one that has a clue about what it's like to be me. Sure, he's got a bit of power and a ton of servants, but that's not the point. I have some power too. He has seen eternity and faced it down. The rest here, they pretend that eternity is just tomorrow or the day after. They keep their heads down, that's the only way they can go forward. Chumps.'

You say, 'power'

Eric Von Schnelling says 'Ah, power. Now that is a fascinating topic. You're probably not aware that to remain alive as stubbornly as I do requires rather large amounts of power? So much so that I can barely spare any to deal with people that try to kill me. That's ironic, isn't it? Over my long life I've learned some nice ways to get that power. The easiest is just to take the power stored in items. Folks waste a lot of energy building these epic items, precious energy that could be used to help keep me alive. This is a topic that the Master and I have spoken about several times. It's most certainly the reason he holds me in such high regard.'

You say, 'epic'

Eric Von Schnelling says 'Sure, like that one you have there. I can sense its power. In fact, perhaps we can work out a bargain. I'm here for several reasons, not the least of which is the fascinating conversations. I know that there is a mystical book of great power here called Shadowspine. I also know that it is weaker than it was when it was created. Pages have been, um, exercised from it and lost. These pages hold a power that make my [work] much easier.'

You say, 'work'

Eric Von Schnelling says 'I don't know that I'd call it work, exactly. But since I already have . . . Anyway, the process of devouring a powerful item requires a large amount of energy. The net gain is nothing to sneeze at, but it's not as much energy as I'd like. These pages can be used like keys to unlock that power much more easily. Each page is usually dedicated to a style of magic, so they tend to only unlock certain types of power. If you can bring me a page that matches with your epic item then maybe we can work out a [deal].'

You say, 'deal'

Eric Von Schnelling says 'Yup, a deal. If you give me a page, I'll use it. If it's the right page for your own epic item, I'll channel a bit of the extra energy I get into your item. That should make it a bit stronger. Either way, though, if you bring me a page I'll certainly use it, it's up to you to have the item in your hand that you want me to make better. You are starting to weary an old man. I get bored talking about work all the time. Is there anything else you'd like to discuss? If not, why don't you start looking for those pages, eh?'

He is the NPC for An Epic Augment aka Epic 2.5.

There was no need to clear any mobs, I just picked over and found him in the dining room.

I spawned him in the dinning room last night. Lots of mobs in a small area which are very social so it was easy to clear them out at 105. Repop did not take very long. Just make sure he isn't up before you start clearing. I set a hotkey /tar Eric to make it easier to check and see if he was nearby.

If you don't have a tracker and you don't want to wander around, go to the dinning room and multitask while you are waiting for repop.

He is a random spawn from one of a dozen or so spawn points, each of which can spawn a dozen or so placeholders. There can be duplicate PHs up. Each PH will be there for between 30-90 minutes.

The bottom of the map is the entrance to the castle. The only thing KOS to this point are the 4-5 undead near the DSK zone in. You can train past them and run up the bat spiral and into the castle. They will not follow through the castle door.

The green dots are the spots we found placeholder mobs. We never saw more than 8 up at any one time, and so at least two of the spots will be empty. The red spots can also be PH spots, but they are not as accessible. We never saw Eric Von Schnelling there, so it is unknown if he can spawn in those spots. A druid can track them all from the ballroom in the center.

The room labeled "1" can be accessed through a secret door in the room to the west of it, but the passage is guarded by KOS bats. I was able to monitor the room by sending an Eye of Tallon through the pasage.

The room labeled 2 could not be accessed at all by us, but there may be a quest for a key or something. I was able to monitor that room by looking through the wall by the balcony using the sit/stand trick. The wall I looked through is the secret passage down to the chest after the Sisters event in DemiPlane.

The PHs we saw are:

Hsranitu the Webspinner
Mauntegu Cordenzo
Notable Shadowmane
Shadowmane Advisor
Shadowmane Sage
Shiliskin Advisor
Shiliskin Councilor
Shiliskin Functionary
Skeletal Administrator
Skeletal Functionary
Skeletal Scribe

This may not be all the possible PHs, but those are the ones we saw.

He popped in a bedroomwhile we were killing for sleepy and exhausted guests. Accidentally agro'd him when ae taunting an orc and he promptly ported me into the dining room, then I guess that wasnt good enough because I popped into mid air at the top of the bat tower and promptly 20k'd. Had to corpse summon because my group couldnt find my corpse tho.

Text when porting me was " I am far to old to deal with the likes of children like you."

shortly followed by "No, be gone from my sight and consider that not everyone in this place is here for you to beat upon."
When you have 2.0 and the page...

He is trackable. We had him pop in a bedroom on the way to Vule on the upstairs level from the foyer/entryway. He popped at 2am game time. The other named in the rooms and in the library depopped about 10 minutes before he popped in one of their places. He replaced Orc Chieftain when we did it.

This is the text when the page is handed to him:

Eric Von Schnelling says "Well, this is exactly what I need. Hang around and watch me work, if you'd like. Keep that epic of yours in your hand and I'll make sure to channel some of my power into it. If you dont have it in your hand, well that's unfortunate."

You gain party experience!!

Eric Von Schnelling draws the power out of the page and channels it into the staff in his hands. The staff pulses with power for a moment, then that power is pulled into Eric himself. As the ritual finishes, the once mighty staff is turned to dust that fades away before it even touches the ground. Erick Von Schnelling says "Ah, now that was refreshing! Thank you for that, I feel a dozen years younger."

Keep effects on ... the effects while he goes through this ritual are really cool to watch.

It adds stats and changes the effect on your 2.0 epic. Make sure to keep 2.0 in your hand when turning in the page.

Just give him the page when he pops.

He did not wander at all. He seems to be stationary in the corner like the other nameds. He stayed up after the turn in. I believe you would have time to call other people to do their turn in before he despawns again.

Like a lot of the "named" non-KoS NPCs, Eric will spawn and despawn at random places in the Non-KoS section. I've seen him in the dinning room in at least 2 seperate places, and in several differant guest rooms. Basically, if you wanted to find him to do the quest turn in, you'll have to hang out a while in Dreadspire wandering about looking for him waiting for him to spawn.

He appears in the dining room at the east wall or at least he did for me. He doesn't really give a quest quest, just the text that we already have.

adds another aug slot to your epic, slot 5 type 30 from what I've heard, no idea what the pages are.

Quest giver requiring epic 2.0s

The following is dialog with a mere epic 1.5 holder. Apparently he responds differently to those wielding epic 2.0s and asks for a set of pages or something.

He smiles at you, 'Welcome to my humble, temporary and spacious residence. Please, make yourself at home. You say, 'what epic items'

Eric Von Schnelling says 'You wouldn't be able to understand such things and, well, you have nothing to offer me. I'll tell you what, you gather up a fully powered item that's worthy of the term 'epic' and come talk to me again.'
