Commander Inasch Prae`va

Named

This is a named mob in the Plane of War. For an overview of all nameds in the Plane of War, their PHs, map points, and mapped locations, see this quest entry.

Spawns health-based kobold adds named A mind-sustained vicar (cast cleric spells including buffs that boost Max HP) that may be very resistant to melee damage and entirely resistant to spell damage (not known if controllable, or if their mitigation can be removed).

Other spells the adds cast:

  • Mind Melt; chain cast every 5 seconds per vicar, 75k targeted DD (this is the mana-based nuke other comments mention)
  • Reforming Light; 3 casts in 2 minutes, 1,010,000 heal to Commander
  • Sound of War; roughly once every 3 ticks, 46k targeted DD + 3 sec stun
  • Mind Over Matter; one cast 105 seconds into the fight; self-targeted 100% melee mitigation buff
  • Hammer of War; cast upon spawn, repeated every 40 seconds; lowbie cleric pet, can be ignored

Note: If you kill the "Inasch" mobs in the room while the named is idle, they instantly respawn. However, if you kill them while the named is engage, they remain dead until the named dies (or is left idle). However they do not assist, so you can pull the commander to a corner to avoid them.

This one is annoying. He definately does something based on how fast you attack, or what you attack him with (melee vs. spell), or how much your HP/Mana moves in relation to his HP.

I ended up using a Paladin to tank, but did not cast any damaging spells or melee. Just kept agro and group healed as able. Had a group Rogue do most of the damage. Also had a merc cleric and two merc rogues for additional DPS. I could not kill the adds, so just defensive disced the whole time. Things went decent until after about 30% where I was getting hit harder. HP would go from 100% to 40%, up and down. At 10% things got wild and had the group Wizard drop Manaburn and everyone unloaded what they had. The cleric merc died fast at this point but we made it.
may be useless info now

The other Inasch mobs in the room do not auto assist, so you can pull the commander to a corner to avoid messing with them. He spawns kobald mobs called A mind-sustained vicar (not currently in Alla). I believe these are spawned as %-based triggers from the commander's health. They spawn 1 at a time, at his currently location. Seems to be at 90%; 70%; 60%; 40%.

A mind-sustained vicar's cast:
  • Mind Melt; chain cast every 5 seconds per vicar, 75k targeted DD (this is the mana-based nuke other comments mention)
  • Reforming Light; 3 casts in 2 minutes, 1,010,000 heal to Commander
  • Sound of War; roughly once every 3 ticks, 46k targeted DD + 3 sec stun
  • Mind Over Matter; one cast 105 seconds into the fight; self-targeted 100% melee mitigation buff
  • Hammer of War; cast upon spawn, repeated every 40 seconds; lowbie cleric pet, can be ignored

Commander had just a single cast:

I would reasonably estimate the commander's health at 100 million. DPSing the vicars was not an affective strategy. Full-burn with enough DPS seems to be the way to go.

It seems that if your mana > commanders hp + 10% you get the mana igniting message and start taking massive damage.

This would explain why folks saying not to use mana regen because it would likely push their mana > his hp and they'd DT'ed

Warning at start of raid was to NOT cast any damaging spells on the named or you would be DT'ed. Found out during fight that anyone using canni/mana harvest/quiet mind/ect style spells would also be DT'ed instantly.

Bear in mind this fight also has a mana drain component.
Any Info?

I attempted this guy a few weeks ago and it mostly ended up with him powering up since the adds were so resistant to dps. On one of the spawns though, one of the adds got insta killed, but i'm not sure what caused it. Just throwing this info out there if someone else wants to try and see if they can figure that out.
