Operating System

Item collector is only known to run on Windows XP, 7, Server 2012 and 10. It should run on even older operating systems.

For those running on Windows 10, make sure to see the Winpcap section below.

Download & Install

To install the program you can download it here.

Run the setup.exe and follow the prompts. If you already have winpcap installed then ignore the prompt to install it. If you are on windows 10 ignore the winpcap install and see the below section.

WinPCap

Windows Versions Prior to Windows 10

WinPCap 4.1.3 should come with the install if you are running any other version of windows besides Windows 10. Version 4.1.3 has wireless support (wifi).

Windows 10

If you are running Windows 10 then you'll need to uninstall the 4.1.3 version of WinPCap if you have it installed and install the Windows 10 WinPCap here or install the up to date Npcap.

The Windows 10 WinPCap from win10pcap.org doesn't work with all wireless network cards however, Ethernet network cards do however work so make sure your cat5 cable is plugged in and wifi turned off. Npcap from nmap.org has better wireless support, however it will not work with some wireless cards.

To make sure any version of WinPCap driver is installed take a look at the properties of your network card by going to Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network Connections and right clicking on your network card and selecting Properties. You should see the packet capture driver in the list of drivers and it should be checked.

Program Menu Options

File

  • Profiles - This option should list out all of the characters you have used with the item collector. On this screen you can input your allakhazam username (which is your email address) and password too in order to sync your character to the site.

Options

  • Settings -
    • Username
      • This menu option allows you to set the name you want to attach to the items you upload to Lucy.

    • Mode
      • You should have WinPcap highlighted.

    • Network Interface
      • This should have a listing of network cards that are compatible with the WinPcap version you have installed. Make sure the network card your currently connected with to the outside world is selected there.

    • Start Collecting when launched
      • This tells the program to automatically start listening for traffic on start up. However if you started the program after you loaded your character in game, you'll need to zone first.

    • Quiet Mode
      • This tells the program that you only want to see items that need to be updated. Other than that, you shouldn't see anything else.

    • Start Minimized
      • This places the program into your task tray on startup.

    • Profile Support
      • This should store your profile settings in the directory of your choosing.

    • Advanced - Sniff in promiscuous mode
    • This allows the item collector to see other EQ clients from other PC's on your local LAN.

Collection

This option just simply turns the collector on and off.

Questions

  • Which EQ client does the item collector listen to?
    • The item collector attaches itself to the very first EQ client it sees send traffic. It ignores any other client.

  • Will the item collector upload things that I loot?
    • It will only upload your loot if you turn off the advanced loot tool and loot things manually.

Known Errors

If you're having trouble downloading the item collector you can usually find up to date files here

If you are getting vcruntime140.dll errors, try installing Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 Redistributable from Microsoft.

If your backend.exe is crashing, we need the crash report. You can reply to this wiki post with the crash report.

If you want to help us debug the crashes you can install Visual Studio 2015. When the crash happens tell the prompt to debug. It should open VS 2015 and go through the motions of giving a debug report. I'm working on a more in depth guide to this part so if your trying this and lost, sorry.
