EverQuest® The Anniversary Edition includes all expansions ever created for EverQuest® making it the largest compilation of MMO expansions ever

SAN DIEGO, CA – March 16, 2007 – Sony Online Entertainment LLC (SOE), a global leader in the online games industry, today announced EverQuest® The Anniversary Edition, a new compilation collection for the Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game (MMORPG), EverQuest. EverQuest The Anniversary Edition will only be available at participating retail locations and is scheduled for release on April 23, 2007, for the suggested retail price of US$19.99.

“After eight successful years of EverQuest, we wanted to celebrate with the release of a very special Anniversary Edition, which consists of all the expansions ever created for EverQuest, including the most recently released expansion: The Buried Sea,” said Clint Worley, Producer for EverQuest. “The Anniversary Edition is not only chock-full of content, but priced to allow players both old and new to join in the online experience known as EverQuest.”

Coinciding with the anniversary celebration, for a month starting on March 16th, EverQuest will be treating players to new in-game content including dozens of Luclin Fabled NPCs, a new scavenger hunt for players of all levels, and the return of the Fabled fiends of years past.

“EverQuest continues to provide players with a massive amount of content, more than any other MMO in the market, and is still continuing to grow, eight years later,” said Michael Lustenberger, Vice President of Marketing, Sony Online Entertainment.

I think it is funny that peeps think they are going to get in the box

Key chain or model - who cares
Map - (Not sure if they still do that or not)
13 cd's - excpect for $20 one CD and hours of patching(downloading)
Manunal of EQ (they quit doing nice manuals in the game boxes at least the last box set i got did not have one so I quit buying the boxes then)

P.S If the box says 30 days free it should apply to any acct new or old. Give me a break Sony.
new box set

Ok guys this is my first post all i want to say is stop all the BOiTching about them puting it in a box set. If you have played for 7 or 8 years now you should know better than to jump right on to any expansion they put out just for this reason. When I started playing only thing out was kunark i got it and didnt buy another until the first box set came out with all the expansion today. Now that tss and all those are in one box set yet again iw ill buy them. I agreen that they should give people who do jump right in and get it the second it comes out a bonus or something that we dont get because that is only fair. Now i know in past events they have done manythings like that so who is to say they just havent finalized what they are going to give you for doing it. Now for my turn to complain about something SOE does and should change. When we buy a new box set like this they should give us the 30 days that is promissed on the box for starting an account. by this i mean that where or not it is a new account they should put the extra 30days onto the accounts that already exist. I mean or drop the price for people who already subscribe to them. Other than this i think soe has done a good job on eq they are revamping old zones slowly but surely.(which is a good thing now they just need to do more kunark zones) i havent had the chance to play the next tbs zones or PoR zones yet but iam sure they are just as fun if not more than the old ones.( i still hunt in veksar really needs revamped). Well i hope everyone reads my post and doesnt get to upset or start nitepicking my spelling because if they do oh well.
something fishy here?

What a class A ********....I knew they would do something like this, since most people dont play tbs...not only does the content suck but the lvl of play is so high, 80 percent of the players who've bought it dont play tbs ...and we were charged 30 bucks for the previlage being screwed by SONY again....I quit buying their other products (Sony tv's are crap now) et all, because of quality, now im verging on saying goodbye to eq cause they have nothing left to offer...lame...jumping the shark as I've said in an older post ..../finger to SOE

You know you don't have to buy the expansions right? If you say all of their stuff is crap, why do you continue buying into them expecting something fantastic? And for other posters, its not a lie, when they said TBS would only be available digital download, they meant at release. I'm sure there has been other expansions that were only digital download that were available in a titanium pack or something. Even if there wasn't, who cares. You don't like it, don't pay, wait till they release the next bundle pack.
If you dont like it.

Play on test server.

All expansions are free, all vet rewards are available from day one, permanet double exp, and 4x exp in > Hot Zones < and the server is just like any other except our population is a small fraction of a " regular server " which is good or bad depending on if a) bad..you like to shop at bazaar for all your gear needs ( laughable amount of traders all with low/mid level gear ) b) Good...if you like the fact that most groupable mobs are open most of the time.

There are a few upper end guilds for those who like raiding ( wish there was a Morning time guild there I work 3rd shift ) and its pretty dead in the morning hours.

Safe hunts and Rare drops to you!

They also think they are fixing things when they keep changing the ui around, but I am getting damn tired of having to fix it back to the way I want it every time they bugger it. guess they don't like ppl changing the layout of it... well too bad for them. I can just see it now... a soe goof sitting there in their nice comfortable office deciding what they are going to do this time to tick off the players... note to soe... there is nothing wrong with the ui, so leave the dang thing alone or give me the option or resetting it back to what I want with 1 button that affects all settings on my system. I am sick of spending hours setting everything back on all of my toons just because someone wants to prove they are doing something so they don't have to worry about getting downsized...
Question
# Mar 17 2007 at 3:26 PM Rating: Decent
so if you buy the pack this way...do you get all the gifts for the other expansions as well? (horses, robo-pig, etc.)

I've never 2 boxed before, but think it might be worth a shot with this. How does it work? Do you have to have 2 machines or can you run them both on 1? My computer isn't bad, but it isn't top of the line either. I have an old laptop that I may be able to use.

If you have a good enough pc, you can run both on the same one. Otherwise you can use two comps next to each other or a laptop works. =)

I don't have a great PC, I can run three accounts on mine. My GF runs three on hers. I just have to lower my settings more to run smoothly. LOL so many people ask me what program I am using to box... I don't run any. just alt+two tabs and set my most used ability to the same key.

I'm excited to finally be able to access the last two expansions, since I generally avoid digital downloads, having a strong preference for a hardcopy of the expansions. Actually, I'm not sure why you would ever prefer a digital download to a hardcopy. However, I digress ...

My question was regarding the upcoming Anniversary edition. If I only need the last two expansions, will I still have to install the entire Anniversary edition, putting expansions back on my computer that I already have? Or will it read that the previous expansions are already on my machine and ONLY update the last two expansions?

A box set every year(or just about)
# Mar 16 2007 at 8:16 PM Rating: Decent
This was expected, just a bit late,...

2003 - EQ Evolution: included classic, kunark, velious, luclin, planes and ykesha.

2004 - EQ Platinum: all the above plus LDon and Gates.

2005 - EQ Titanium: all the above plus DoN, Omens and DoDH.

2006 - no box set

2007 - EQ Anniversary (just announced) everything including PoR, TSS and TBS.

Each one of these box sets cost $20, a substantial savings over purchasing each expansion individually for $30.

NB Titanium included all the in-game rewards from each expansion. Also, the free month is ONLY if you are activating a new account. If you add the new box set to an existing account you won't get the free month. At least that's the way it was with all the previous box sets,...

don't forget EQ Gold which was all eq up to Planes which i bought at the launch of planes for $100.00 U.S. dollar.....Then i bought EQ Platiunm for $20.00...Which is all eq up to darkhollow ..THIS IS becoming riddiculous.
that why i'mot buying any ex-packs for atleast 2 or 3 more expansions..

I got a new account right before Christmas '06...spent an enormous amount of money buying all the available expansions digital download from SoE (hint..you couldn't buy anything including all of them for $20.) So I spent almost 10 times the price they are now offering every expansion over the past 8 years, and all that within a 2 1/2 month timespan. Makes me want to call in the nukes to SoE HQ.
I'm more than miffed, to say it politely. @*#holes.
I'm glad I waited.
# Mar 16 2007 at 6:25 PM Rating: Decent
I didn't think the new expansion was worth $30, so I figured I would wait until the price goes down. SoE rushed out yet another steaming pile (although the zones look terrific. . .they did a great job on the eye candy), and charged the same $30. . . but for only a tenth the value (or even less) of the last expansion (the Serpents Spine).

After exploring some of the new zones and mobs, and doing some missions and testing new spells (in beta), I was disappointed, to say the least. For a casual casual-raider (family guild) type, I knew I wouldn't be raiding any of the hard content, and the exp per kill there was about the same as hi-end TSS zones, but mobs too hard for the exp you get. The NDA was in effect, so I couln't really tell anyone why I thought it wasn't worth $30.

So, fast-forward to now, and this is some good news indeed. With 5 accounts to pay for, between me and my wife, $150 spent should really be buying us something worth that kind of money (which this doesn't, imho). Anyhow, this new release will save us not only the 10$ off the retail price, but deduct the $15 we save on the free month included, and now we are talking the $5 value that it really is.

You can see by the swift release of this combo-pak, so shortly after the TBS expansion went live, even SoE needed to do something drastic to get their money from it. I am sure it fell way short of projected sales, but I know they wouldn't want us to see those numbers. LOL.

So, for $5 bucks each expansion, I'm game to plunk down $25 to port our group with banners and campfires.

I'm glad I waited.
# Mar 19 2007 at 10:09 AM Rating: Decent
I hate to break it to you, but if this compilation pack is anything like the previous ones, you will not get a free month for purchasing it. Only new accounts get that.

On a side note, I've dealt with purchasing all the expansions since PoR individually, and thus paying 40$ more then someone who waited, but would love to see some sort of loyalty reward for jumping right on instead of waiting for them to give up and throw everything together to pull in more people... (yeah, i know, what was I thinking?!?!?!)
saving some $$

Think of the $30 as the premium for being able to get into TBS zones on the very first day, not waiting 2 months after the release. The upper guilds and top players get to bask in glory for being the first to reach zones and raid mobs.

Naturally the patient ones can benefit from this: strategies have been discovered and posted, making things easier for us late comers. The price of orum and other currency are reasonable and not insane greedy price gouging level like the first week after the release. Also we get to find where is a good camp, safe camp, how to pull, what gears are worth farming, etc.

It comes down to: was it worth $30 to be the first or $20 and missing some raids and groups so things would be easier for us later?

With any luck, the next expansion, probably around August, would not be part of future compilation until probably late 2008 or early 2009 at the rate SOE is going now.
