New LDoN Goodies

Sony sent us some more peeks at the coming goodies in Lost Dungeons. First off, the lewt! A series of pictures here demonstrate how item augmentations happen. Standardish everquest item, the Trueborn Elite Ring: An un-enhanced Blood Laced Axe of Mistmoore, this item shows the ability to add three different enchancements to it at once: Radiant Permafrost Chunk, note the new type, and it's limitations: The Polished Brown Stone, adding 15 HP to the item it enhances, but much less limited: After the augmentation, the Blood Laced Axe of Mistmoore has piced up some new statistics. an extra 2 damage, and 15 more hp, presumably able to recieve one more augmentation. One wonders if old world items will recieve slots for augmentation, however personally I doubt it. Oh, we were also sent over some lovely pictures of Miragul's haunts in Lost Dungeons.

The Sony press release specifically mentioned "that old item you have in the bank". So yes, old items will be augmentable. However, my bet is that things used to augment will be NO DROP and found only in the 48 zones they are adding.

At a guess, anything augmentable is going to be no-drop. Whether that means once augmented, or whether it means ONLY no-drop things can be augmented we don't know yet.

With the post at the bottom of the page about test server old equip having AUG slots, sounds like we'll be able to upgrade older quest armor and no-drop weapons and the like.
Not all Items

Only the NEW items you can add these to not the old items, so you cant take a fbss and give it 15 hp ect.

Like stated in a post above, SoE quote says words to the effect of "upgrading the old item in your bank", so it very well could pertain to some old world items. However, since that it would require massive amounts of work, i wouldn't expect all items to be augmentable when the expansion first comes out.

I can't wait

I can't wait to get some augs that will boost my already good int score. I already have a 230 int and I haven't even started inate int training. A few +3 int augs to my robe or my bracelets would leave me with a disturbing amount of mana at my command.

Until the lost dungeons are found, happy camping :)

they are just kissing the High level peeps butts again, can you see that all these things are level 65 required? kinda lame if you ask me, they are catering once again to the people who live in EQ.

Naw, there are zones for 20th levels. I'm sure that the augs will be dropped there too. 20-65 is an awesome way. Especially with the LoY zones that have been added lowbies aren't getting the shaft as much these days. I guess they figured out that they need to make the game fun at the low end too.

Umm, I am confused. Yes LoY had a great many niceties (ie. Transfer Bank Slots, Charms if available). However nothing was really added for low levels as 50+ toons. Yes I know that high chars will will be catered to better mainly cuz of time invested but come on. I am a lil hesitant to bad mouth LDON before it comes out, but I would really hate to see 50+ getting the items over lowbies. I am sure that there will be Augs for lows but I am willing to bet that the stat increases will be lackluster (betting +1 dex or +1 Cold Resist). Hehehe, I have seen those bonuses on items from 50+ droppable items in the bazaar without too much else added on. I do hope that the items/zones are really worth it for ALL levels. I was a lil disappointed with LoY as far as zones. Anyway, good luck to all in the new zones and I hope you win those rolls.

Nothing was added for low levels? If you are talking about anything less than the mid-high 30s then I would agree you but have you ever really taken a trip out to the Gulf of Gunthak? The experience here is phenomenal and a great place to group. Its a shame more people prefer the Dreadlands to Gunthak and Dulak since the experience and loot blows DL away.

I have a 56 pally and a 48 shammy (both of which were in the low 40s when LoY came out) and I really have to wonder if the people who are bashing LoY so much have really explored the zones there.

Honestly considering the 65s are the ones who are die hards and play daily for atleast 3+ hours catering to them would be a wise thing to do, most companies would cater to those who provide the most money making opportunity. And speaking of catering what would you call opening up tier 2 and 3 zones to lvl requirement instead of keeping the manditory flagging in place to enter said zones.....sounds like they catered to the lower lvls on that one.

RE: what if i don't want a subject?

The excuse that the epics are X number of expansions old and should be forgotten about is silly.

PoH is older and it got a revamp..
CT is older and got a revamp..
Mobs, zones, weapons, equip all get nerfed or upgraded all the time...look at the patch notes.

the classes and races have gotten upgrades and nerfs along the way.

the fact that the epic quest is old, should not negate that they should be looked at for augmentation/upgrade.
Or at least made obtainable in a way that does not trivialize them..
why not have all the encounter mobs be spawnable and drop what is needed..etc...
something.

the rallos encounter and 4+ tier planes are not accessable by the majority of players.
the fact that there are better obtainable doesnot mean that anymore than a few per server will have them.

This is a some what late reply to this particular thread, since by now almost all of the people posting here will already know this, but our Epics will be upgradable with the new expansion. Even the Mage summoned epic will be able to be augmented, assuming you want to have a 1 charge item become a permanent fixture on your char. All you need to do is talk to the correct NPC, forget his name, but they will allow the item to receive an aug. Magicians won't get a better summoned epic pet, though. Just a more damaging weapon. Like I'm REALLY gonna stand there and beat on a mob that can kill me with one hit!

#REDACTED, Posted: Aug 16 2003 at 10:08 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Epic is Kunark era, that's what? 5 expansions ago? back when level 50 was max. Epic for the most part SHOULD be totally useless by now. After being able to get epic over 3 years ago, people need to be able to strive for better things. Mobs are much harder then they were in that era.

i disagree the ranger epic is used all the time, haste + atk bonus, whether the dmg/dly is all that uber doesnt matter - there isnt many weapons that i would consider loosing my epic for

Delay augs?
# Aug 16 2003 at 2:52 AM Rating: Default
The one aug I'd love to see, especially for one handers, would be a delay reducing aug. Imagine getting a 14 22 (Blackened Acrylia Blade, for example) and giving it an aug that dropped its delay by 2 or 3 . . . suddenly its a LOT more powerful!
Seems ok.
# Aug 16 2003 at 1:37 AM Rating: Good
After you put the aug item in, will you able to take it back out? I'm hoping that items equipped with Augmentations instatly become no drop, keeping track of all the AUGS on the weapon your buying would be way too hard. The new ice goblins looks great.

Yes - they stated that you can remove enhancements but it destroys the enhancement (not the item though).

DMG bonus?
# Aug 16 2003 at 1:17 AM Rating: Default
I noticed the +13 dmg bonus was present on the unmodified axe, and remained unchanged after augmentation with the Permafrost chunk...Would have thought it would stack... since the DMG +2 from the chunk added, why didn't the bonus???
RE: DMG bonus?
# Aug 16 2003 at 3:52 AM Rating: Excellent
Because damage bonus is based character level and either a flat rate for a 1H weapon (13 for L64+) or delay for a 2h weapon.

The Chunk does not effect weapon delay so doesn't effect the dmg bonus.

I don't think that the augmentations are quite the same as in Diablo..
The augmentations (if they are removable/stackable on items) will allow for customization of armor based on a characters needs. Short on mana? Mana + Augmentation.

Sure...it makes finding suitable equipment very easy...but it'll make for some seriously nice junk =)
Augmenting
# Aug 15 2003 at 8:19 PM Rating: Decent
I believe that the augmenting of items will be alot like Diablo -- only some items having slots for augmentation (sockets) and that u will take whichever augmentation is appropriate for the slot type and u just perhaps click it and drop it on the item, which will add it to the item. I do hope that if they do this there will be a confirmation message before it is finalized, or that you are able to retrieve an augmentation from the item, otherwise this will make many people frustrated and upset. I know the many times when i have accidentally put a perfect gem into a socketed item in Diablo 2 accidentally, and regret my decision. Another possibility i was thinking of would be to just combine the item and its augmentor and put them into a forge or other combining device and press combine, but it would not require any tradeskill to do so, because otherwise this would just benifit the people who have too much time on their hands to develop the skills in the first place.

Okay im done now. This is just some of the possibilities i believe might happen.

Thanks for listening
How does one do augmentations?
# Aug 15 2003 at 7:42 PM Rating: Default
Anyone know how augmentations are placed on an item? Is it like an imbue spell or with a tradeskill(s)?
RE: How does one do augmentations?
# Sep 16 2003 at 5:08 AM Rating: Default
Augmentation is done at the camps in each area. There is a table usually off to the side or in a tent. Click on the table, and it opens a combine box, similar to a forge, but with only 2 slots. Add your item, and the aug. Hit combine and you're done.
Same augmentations?
# Aug 15 2003 at 7:31 PM Rating: Decent
Notice the Augmentations are not lore, wonder if it would be possible to add same augmentation several times. Comparing Axe above and the aug, it would be possible to create theese combos:

1HS 18/20 +55hp 30mana 10str 10dex 7svc 7svf
1HS 12/20 +100hp 30mana 10str 10dex 7svc 7svf

Somehow I don't think that would be allowed..

Consider an already nice item like Battle Fists. That could make them 24/20 weapons with above augmentations.

Old World Items Augmentation

hope they have AC augs too :)
RE: Old World Items Augmentation

I don't see why they wouldn't. After all, they have stated that the idea of augmentation was to customize armor as well as weapons. So, seeing as they have HP augs, it stands to reason that we'll see resist and AC augs as well.
