Is it even worth it to get this spell If I am already a level 18?
Yes, this is very much worth getting. Most Mana Pres items are every costly, this one is only 5p and you always have it. Not only that, but you can give it to others in the group that might need a MP item. I get more requests for this and the bracer then any other summoned items.

I think it's important to note...my mage got this thinking it would decrease the mana usage on DD's. When I cast one and look at it, the message on the item say it reduces Healing spell mana. Fear not though, when I wear it it sparkles on my DD's and did nothing on my friends shaman heals.

This line of mage-summoned items (the earring line) reduces mana used on DD spells by 15%. From what I understand, the 'reduces aggro' was a false rumor that made its way to CastersRealm, from where many people seemed to have picked it up. Note that the CR entry for this spell is now corrected.
Also, I've heard people saying that this item works on all 'detrimental' spells (like the Malise line)... this is NOT true. My magician never gets the effect of this earring when he casts the Malise line... it only works on DD spells.

Well, actually, it reduces mana by UP TO 15%. It's random, y'see.

Looking at the new spell focus effects list, the Jolum's Abatement line supposedly reduces mana costs by 15%. I had always heard it reduces aggro effect. Anyone know which one it actually is?

This item reduces mana cost on detrimenal spells by 15%. Only works on spells level 24 or lower. The next version of this spell comes out at level 34.
I had no Idea what the effect did, but when I found out that it decreases aggro on the caster, then that makes it excellent for avoiding distractions, i cant wait to be able to use the higher ones

Okay, I can understand how you'd be confused on what the "Abatement" does...because the first earing says it effects healing spells, whereas the others all say Direct Damage, but the fact that you think it's a range item that reduces agro worries me.....just curious....have you ever actually PLAYED a mage?? And if you have it's only level 4, right?
