Then it is very, very, very rare for them to do so...I've gone from level 50 to level 58, plus 25 AA points, and have never, ever been summoned by an Elder.

Ensnare, root, rinse, repeat - easier than wurms!

Do these guys summon and are they rootable/snareable?

As a 52 Druid, I have only played with the dark blue ones. I root and snare with no problem and have never been summoned.
Spawn Time
# Dec 18 2002 at 12:26 AM Rating: Decent
The 5 elder wyverns in front of V peak have a 20 minute spawn timer, pretty easy slowed, not as much hp as you guys say I dont think, unless we're just UBER! WoOt!

Kigero, 52 Rogue
Group was 57 shammy, 56 chanter, 56 monk
nice pets

these guys make the best pets in zone, imho. *can* dual-wield, although you dont see them holding the weps. lotsa hp, nice proc, overall nice burly quad-160ish pet.
Spawning Areas

I did some exploration of skyfire and ended up finding these things and killing a few. I was pulling them to a lava flow on the northern edge of the zone. I think they hang around close to VP along with the higher level common MOBs.

My team consists of a lvl 52 cleric, 53 monk, 55 druid. They were tough. I did manage to tank a few, but got the cleric and druid down to about 30% mana by the end. Spell drops in the area were alot higher than the BW zoneline area, but the MOBs were all tougher.
Not worth it

As a 54 necromancer, I killed about 3 of these. Pocket change for drops, no spells. Yes, I probably got unlucky for spell drops. But in the time it takes to kill 1, I could kill 2 mature wyverns, wurms, etc.

The point is, these things have around 15 to 20k hitpoints and take a long time to die. The downtime and risk/reward ratio just isn't worth it.

And don't fight these on a dial up. If you lag, you're gonna get smacked around for 164+ :) not to mention their dark poison spell.

Where in SF does this guy hang out? Dunno if a 53 necro could solo him or not, but I'm stupid enough to try it. (I could DOT at least 10k on full manna, but resists and keeping pet alive might be hard).
# Feb 23 2002 at 6:25 AM Rating: Default
About 18k hp, took me ages, and no spell

Resisted a fair few roots and snares

Partial resists on about a quarter of nukes

Was told lvl 51 according to a group there.

Did not summon me)

to fly or not to fly, which is it going to be?
# Oct 10 2000 at 2:33 PM Rating: Decent
I'm a 51 druid, these things bite me for 140+. they tend to resist ensnare a bit more than usual and after level 50 they like to summon you. Only one thing I really think is stupid about this MOB. They make a flapping sound like a griffon even while standing still but they don't fly. It's just really annoying to hear that sound all the time while fighting them, I think the folks at VI could have done a bit better with the sounds on this mob.

Dunno, if these were pre-velious sounds, but just went into skyfire tonight to look around. Most of the mobs in Skyshrine sound the same. Screeching and flapping. I think it's cool.

Verant did not add many new sounds in Kunark; the only ones I know of are the iksar pain and death sounds. The others are taken from somewhere in the old world, and thus the wyverns use the griffin sound effects. You could always imagine that it's just the wyvern breathing... that would work for me.
