Train the AA related to tradeskill, "New Tanaan Mastery" to allow a secondary tradeskill above 200.
You will need to camp and logout so it can update before continuing your skill up, when you continue you'll see tradeskill start rising again.

This is an awesome skill up recipe.
Relatively cheap and all ingredients can be bought from "Brewmaster Berina" behind the small bank in POK.
There is a brew barrel next to her as well.

The only down side I noticed is that "Search Recipes" won't find it, which means you will have to "Experiment" until you create one.
When experimenting, you will need to put each required item in manually without stacking.
- Once you create one, close out and re-enter the Brew Barrel.
- Type "Minotaur" in the search window, click "Search Recipes" and then click "Minotaur Hero's Brew" to show the ingredients needed.
- Below the ingredients, click "Make All" then "Combine. This will do the combine automatically.

Selling items back will recoup a good portion of what you paid for the ingredients.

Happy Brewing!!! :P

FYI ...... You can buy the short beers in Abysmal sea off the merchants next to the brew barrel ..... one less sub combine works for me, and it's still cheap :)

Skilling up to 2148

Thank Sony for the new trade skill UI! saved me from carpal tunnel for sure! As long as the trivial doesnt get nerfed, I plan on making 248 in a day or two. Here is a nice little feature: in PoK, go to the brewer merchant in the bar with the brew barrel. position youself just right, and click on him to buy/sell. then, click on the barrel. you can do the combines, and buy new supplies and sell the bottles/finished product. You just can't buy short beer from him, so have about 500 hundred in your inventory. you can do the combines for an hour, if the money holds out.

Holy <Censored>! Bought 1000 shortbeer in the push to go from 228 to 248, the trivial. i sold back only about 100 beers. thats 900/20 skill-upos, and that is a good ratio, i think. That is 45 attempts per skill-up. had 255 wis (267 actually), 140 Int, and a damn slow rate of climb. I actually had a slower rate going from 200 to 228, since it is easier and actually cheaper to use this method to skill-up than some of the other recipes. It actually cost me about 40 pp, after i sold all back, with a Cha of 180. I dont know if it had an effect, but I had my cha gear on, boots and opal steins, and this did reduce the cospt of purchases and increase buy-backs. BTW, if someone wants to do HMB in PoK on Firiona Vie server, the beer should be there for a while. The merchant in the bar with the barrel. just read the post i am replying to.

According to the links, all the ingredients can be found in the same zone only in SouthQeynos, Thurgadin, and Shar Vahl.

Good place for supplies

The best place I've found for the supplies needed to make this is in south qeynos. I know sometimes there are faction issues (don't be an ogre :>) but for those of goodly races its a prime place to do it. There are two buildings at approximately -290, -290. One is a bakery and the other is a bar. Between the two you can find all the needed ingredients. Good luck!

BTW this is a very slow skill raise!
Think this is slow?
# Dec 28 2003 at 4:58 AM Rating: Decent
toy think THIS is slow and tedious? you haven`t done Misty Thicket Picnic`s then, ALOT of subcombines, and SLOW skill upage
Where to make this
# Oct 10 2003 at 2:16 PM Rating: Good
Just a little help... there are vendors in Shadowhaven which are all relatively close to each other that sell the components to this.
Bilkel Biddinight at 195, 907 sells the beer.
Lander Furthers at 167, 327 sells the yeast, the malt and the casks.
Brew barrels are upstairs at 74, 400 and -17, 312. The vendors upstairs also have the water flasks needed to complete the recipe.

Best of luck!

You always get the 2 bottles back.
They are from the 2 Short Beers you use.

Good recipe but SLOW!
# May 18 2003 at 11:28 PM Rating: Excellent
I used this recipe over the last couple of days and it's not just slow it is PAINFULLY slow, at least with my lowly 130-Int! Starting at skill level 188 I have now made it to 193 in about 5 hours! So if you don't have a HIGH Int or Wis and lots of patients I would advise making Faydwer Shakers up to 188, it is a lot faster, has only 5 components to lug around and all can be vendor purchased in one place!

I made the Faydwer Shaker from skill level 135 to 188 and those 53 skill up points took 5 - 6 hours and cost next to nothing when selling everything back and with a Cha of 135. I think I spent 15-20pp or so for this 53 skill points. Also this would have been faster but I had limited slots open to carry everything. All you need for the Faydwer Shaker is Mead (1), Dwarven Ale (1), Elven Wine (1), Gnomish Spirits (1) and a Cask (1). Best of all is that they are all vendor purchased in E. Freeport at the Seafarer's Roost on the docks, #11 on EQ Atlas map. If you have 2 or 3 handmade Backpacks you can make fewer trips and get this done pretty fast. I averaged about 5 skill up points for every 3 stacks of ingredients. Once I hit 180 that dropped off and took about 10 more stacks for the last 8 skill points.

This slowing of skill points after hitting 180 has carried over to the Minotaur Heros Brew and needing 9 components for each combine is no help either! Again all these components can be found in Freeport. Yeast & Malt - Krystin Charcoal in the corner on main ramp from W. Freeport leading to N. Freeport. Water - Alec Greenglade in the blue building next to the bank (Don't know why water is so hard to find in the city!). The Cask and Short Beer can be found at any of the pubs/bars in the Freeport area. I used Swin Blackeye at the Hogcallers Inn in W. Freeport just because the Brewing Barrel was available at the time. There may be some place in W. Freeport to get water in which case you would not have to leave the zone for this one component!? This brew is even cheaper to make then the Faydwer Shaker if you sell everything back.

Make sure you have as many empty Backpacks as you can carry ready for this one and lots of Int/Wis and patients! Have to get this trade skill maxed out and go for that Trade Skill Trophy! : )

Happy Brewing

P.S. I also noticed that when I had a pair of items stacked and tried to do the combine I got an error/warning message window pop up. Looks like this should not be a problem for people anymore!?

Make sure you're using Short BEER and not Short ALE... and the Flask of Water(s) must be store bought, not foraged or summoned....

RE: DONSNT WORK

Confirm this recipe still works, prob the best trade skills to get to 248 of any of the tradeskills available. The ingredients are all store bought and easily found in the same zone. Just remember like said above to not stack things and to not mistake water flask with the foraged pod of water or summoned globe of water or something like that.
Every other tradeskill now is tuff to near impossible to get to 248+ without some painful hunting or painful $$ buying ingredients in bazaar. Take for example 200p or more per combine attempt for the other trade skills with the relatively paltry 2-3p per attempt to raise brewing to 248. It kind of amazes me that verant/sony has not nerfed the hero brew down to like 202 or something more in line with the other skills the same way smithing was pushed down a few months ago last spring. Granted getting those last 2 pts to get yerself to 250 will still be an accomplishment, but still when you compare you got to agree that this skill is now the simplist to max out.
--edit--
Man I forgot to mention one of the very good reasons to max out a trade skill; and that is that you can then attempt the grandmasters Corking device. If you can get this you get a very nice item with +10str +10wis +10int and +50 cha for your range slot not to mention being the winner of a 10 slot 100% bag. This has got to be worth the coinz to get brewing to 248 even though getting the artisans seal will cost you.
Sure you can just lug 5250 or more in coinz down to Sol A and buy a bag from the gnome there, but a range item with +80 in stats is hard to pass up!
