The Darkened Sea Info & Guides: Overview | Progression & Task List | Raiding | Visible Armor

This solo task begins with Damton Silverhammer (click for map image), located at the zone-in of Degmar, the Lost Castle.

    Pre-Requisites for Requesting:
    - Minimum Level 95
    - No tasks

Say "fetch" to request this task.

    You say, 'Hail, Damton Silverhammer'

Damton Silverhammer says 'Salutations, _____ You look like the adventuring type and I wager you'd like work. I can use help gathering [supplies] and seeing if we can overturn my [banishment]. If you are the more conversational type, I can also tell you a little about Degmar's [Castle].'

You say, 'What supplies do you need?'

Damton Silverhammer says 'While I have plenty of room to sleep, supplies are rather scarce. I will reward you if you [fetch] me some supplies.'

    You say, 'I'll fetch some'

Damton Silverhammer says 'Thank you. I've made notes of what I need in your journal, but I can give you more [details] if you like.'

You have been assigned the task 'Castle Raid'.

Damton has been banished to the guard house and would like for you to retrieve supplies for her from the castle.

Defeat denizens of the library and collect library books from them, so she has something to entertain her. Go to the dining hall and collect food for her. The elvish ghosts in the hall will attack if you do not dance with them before you collect the food. Spend at least one minute dancing with them. Collect Degmar Ale from the brewery. The dwarfs in the brewery are likely to strenuously object.

You say, 'Give me more details...'

Damton Silverhammer says 'I would like you to [fetch] some [books], [food], and [ale].'

    You say, 'Ale?'

Damton Silverhammer says 'The brewery can be accessed through the dining room. Once there, you can retrieve ale however you like, but you may find the bartenders and patrons a bit... possessive, with their ale. They will notice if any goes missing, so be prepared!'

You say, 'Where do I get food?'

Damton Silverhammer says 'To gather food you will need to go west on the upper level of the foyer and through the merchant's quarters to the [dining] hall. While passing through the merchant quarters, if you feel you have time, and if you can find her, let Priestess Gli'helin know that I'm okay.'

You say, 'What about the dining hall?'

Damton Silverhammer says 'You will find the food in the dining hall. Don't worry about depleting the supply as more food is generated magically. But be careful, the elven dancers in that room will want to dance with you, and if you do not appease them, they will attack. You don't need to show skill, just spend at least a minute in their presence.'

You say, 'What about the books?'

Damton Silverhammer says '[Neckchi] over there is a fine conversationalist, but he is often busy, and even when I can get his attention he's likely to drone on and on about esoteric details of teleportation magic. Some books from the [library] will help me pass the time.'

You say, 'Tell me about the library'

Damton Silverhammer says 'The library is immediately east of the foyer on the lower level. Most of the books on the shelves are so old that they'll crumble if you handle them. You will instead need to gain them from the library patrons. I encourage you to take them from the ghostly librarians, but I will not censure you if you take some from the crazy dwarves digging in the library. There is no telling what harm the madmen will cause with their digging.'

  • 1. Kill 5 Librarians 0/5 (Degmar, the Lost Castle)

  • 2. Collect 2 Library Books 0/2 (Degmar, the Lost Castle)

Kill any mobs with "librarian" in their name (both live and undead count). Library books have a 50% drop rate if you're on this step. Note that undead librarians will use standard mez spells.

  • 3. Dance with the revelers to appease them 0/1 (Degmar, the Lost Castle)

You can just stand between the tables for 1 minute and get the update.

  • 4. Collect 5 Fancy Foods 0/5 (Degmar, the Lost Castle)

Don't take any food until the dancers have been appeased.

Outside the party room is Herrul Bakewell. He sells the Fancy party foods (free), if he is kos to you invis/sneak.

  • 5. Collect 2 Degmar Castle Ales 0/2 (Degmar, the Lost Castle)

Head to the dining area where you'll find numerous tables set up along with a spread of food along the room's north wall. Before you pick at the food, you need to 'appease' the revelers in the room by dancing with them... To do this, all you need to do is move around in the room for at least 60 seconds straight. The task will update, and you'll see an emote:

The revelers look at you and raise a glass in celebration.

You can now pick up five food items from the tables. (There are five types; any combination counts.) NOTE: These items are actual food; don't eat them!

If you DON'T dance with the revelers before picking at the food, they aggro you. You can also draw auto mob aggro if you hang around in the room for more than five minutes without dancing. In this case, you start seeing emote warnings 60 seconds before they'll attack:

The revelers look at you and frown.

The revelers look at you, disapointed that you have not reveled with them, and attack.

a spectral reveler says 'Why won't you dance?'

You have been slain by a spectral reveler!
a spectral reveler says 'See. You should be dancing.'

For the Degmar Castle Ales, head to the Brewery (just east of the dining room with the revelers) and pick up 2x "Degmar Castle Ale" from the bars in there.

  • 6. Deliver a library book to Damton Silverhammer 0/2 (Degmar, the Lost Castle)

  • 7. Deliver 5 Fancy foods to Damton Silverhammer 0/5 (Degmar, the Lost Castle)

  • 8. Deliver Degmar Castle Ale to Damton Silverhammer 0/2 (Degmar, the Lost Castle)

    Upon turn-in:

Damton Silverhammer is grateful for your assistance.

    75 platinum
    Faction with Degmar's Commoners (+225)

Don't take any food until the dancers have been appeased. Instant death several times till I figured I'd grabbed a food item when I went for a sparkly...

You don't have to move around at all for the dancing step. Just stand on the "dance floor" between the tables, for one minute. You'll get the update.

    Learned this by mistake:

Outside the party room is Herrul Bakewell. He sells the Fancy party foods (free) and you can get the update if you buy 5 of them (can all be the same). I needed to sneak for this to work since he hated me. You can then stand invis on the dance floor for a minute to get that update. If you are not invis, the party-goers attack as if you stole the food.

Stay away from the Angry Spectral Revelers, they will attack...best idea is to just stay in the middle of the room moving around for 1 minute till you get the update...then get the five foods off the table... then head east to room with bartender. He's to the left in the room behind the counter and grab the two ales

    Watch out for the following:

My cleric got the dancing step done (which has to be done without invis, btw), invis'd up and went to get the food. I wasn't very cautious here since I had done it with 3 toons previouslty with no problem. But this time a dorf "server" showed up and paused at the table. Before I could grab all 5 items he agro'd, saying something like "it's good to tip your server." I don't know if a tip would have placated him before he aggro'd but he killed the cleric. I rezzed the cleric and he needed 2 more food items so I invisd and went back. THIS time he encountered the problem of getting agro from the dancers for looting food without dancing! After a couple of more deaths I got smart and had him dance again. You do NOT get an update message but there is an emote showing the dancers are satisfied. Then you can finish looting.

So watch out for the server. There are two food tables so if he's lurking at one go to the other.

    Ok so
    1. I did dance with them by actually targeting them and it did nothing. I had to stand by them and target nothing and just do /dance and a few seconds later credit
    2. Even though I had danced with them and was not KOS as others have stated, after probably 5ish minutes?? (as I was doing 6 toons) the first toon I went in with died lol

Ahhh after looking back, it was the guard that killed me, not the Spectral Guys. So just make sure after you dance to invis.

Just an odd experience .... I was boxing this task. Did the dancing update on each toon, one at a time, then regrouped in the hallway. Mage had no problem going in with dual invis and grabbing the food. The SK, every time he entered the room, with dual invis, would draw agro. Became a PITA, ended up using Harmshield to get it done.

But turn ins and everything at the end went fine. Just odd agro in the dining room.

we found out the hard way. Don't cheat this task by scooping the food first, because if you go into the room with scooped food you will die or close to it....

We found out you need to delete what ever food you have looted and then you can invis and head into the middle of the room where by get the "dance" update. Then go back and re scoop your food ... good luck

The part of this task where you must dance with the Revelers can be somewhat buggy, at least on bertox. I've bugged and petitioned it. Today when i was trying to camp the PH which is located in the same room, about 75 Revelers had stacked up against the far wall and if you are in the room too long they will attack you, following the emote "The revelers look at you and attack, yadda yadda" being that you haven't danced with them. I have even tried dancing with them but it does not reset the attack timer for whatever reason.

When we originally did this task a few weeks back you would get a red emote saying they were attacking but they never did, likewise you could pick up food form the table with no problems, but all of a sudden now it's pretty rough to get through this task because of this room.

Maybe they will sort this out, but for now it's hit or miss, and you will need to run this and the other faction task probably twice to request the HA.
