Call of the Forsaken Info & Guides: Overview | Progression & Task List | Raiding | Visible Armor

This raid expedition begins with Templar Gemma (click for map) in the Dead Hills. She is a gnome found in a tent in the dock camp, just west of the West Karana portal stone.

Pre-Requisites for requesting:
- Level 85
- Completed "For the Sake of the Forsaken" (Dead Hills partisan)
- Completed Ethernere Tainted West Karana raid event "The Doomscale Horde"

Pre-Requisites for Participating:
- Completed Ethernere Tainted West Karana raid event "The Doomscale Horde"

You say, 'Hail, Templar Gemma'

Without pre-requisites, you see:

Templar Gemma waves a bloody glove at you dismissively, 'Leave while you can, _____. The Dead Hills are no place for a _____ like yourself.'

With pre-requisites, you see:

You say, 'Hail, Templar Gemma'

Templar Gemma peers up at you with weary eyes and sighs, 'It's good to finally see someone who's not injured or otherwise maimed. I could use a break.' The exhausted healer wipes blood from her hands while nodding towards the unconscious gnome to her right, 'Sometimes I wonder if it's even worth trying to save them. I mean, what kind of life could he possibly lead after what the [xulous] have done to him?'

You say, 'What did the Xulous do?'

Templar Gemma says 'I take it you haven't spent much time in the northwest? It's probably best. The xulous are the horrific offspring of Bertoxxulous and butchers, at best. They're determined to bring their behemoths back to life at any cost. Although they're often at war with the ogres to the east, they've taken to kidnapping smaller races and using them for experiments. Maybe they think because we're small we're easy targets? Truth is, we're a resourceful bunch, which is why so many of us have escaped, but not without [injury].'

You say, 'Injury?'

Templar Gemma says 'Even if you manage to escape physically unscathed like myself, the nightmares will surely haunt you for a lifetime.' The gnomish healer pauses with noticeable regret, 'Sometimes I feel guilty for escaping. It doesn't feel right being free when so many [others] are still being tortured. I guess that's why I remain here, hoping that healing the injured will somehow nullify my guilt. It hasn't worked yet.''

You say, 'What others?'

Templar Gemma pauses while she tries to recall the details of her captivity, 'I wasn't in any shape to count my fellow prisoners. If I were to judge by the number of screams I heard, I'd say nearly a dozen were in need of [rescue].'

You say, 'We'll rescue them'

Templar Gemma blinks with disbelief, 'Would you really put your life on the line for a bunch of strangers? The xulous are not to be underestimated. They fight hard and they fight dirty. You won't be able to break their camp alone. Perhaps if you had a [raid] force or maybe a well-trained [group], you'd be able to reach the encampment where they keep the prisoners.

You say, 'I have a raid'

Templar Gemma looks up at you in awe, 'Wow. You're really going to do it, aren't you? The least I can do is lead you safely to the outskirts of their camp when you're [ready]. Once you're there though, you're on your own. I'll remain close by to heal the injured, but I'll never step foot in the xulous camp again.'

You say, 'Ready!'

Templar Gemma urges you to follow.

Summary

- When ready, run up the hill from the zone-in and engage Xulous Prime (leashed to the area in which he is located).

- Xulous Prime casts an AE knockback (Toxic Blast), a targeted DOT (Festering Pustules), and a disease protection buff (Counteract Disease -- do not use disease spells against him while he has this buff on).

- Around his spawn location are four untargetable green oozes.
--- From each of these oozes spawns 1x "a maggot" about every 40-60 seconds. If these aren't killed within 30-40 seconds, 1x "a mosquito" spawns in its place.
--- Generally, 2-3 DPS classes should be able to keep a single maggot location from spawning additional adds.

- At certain health intervals (80%, 60%, 40%, and 20%), a random player receives an emote about a cloud of disease. This is an aura that spawns on the player's location and follows that player around for the duration of the event. Anyone caught in this aura is inflicted with a DOT+snare (Breath of Xulous Prime).

- Anyone who dies with "Festering Pustules" or "Breath of Xulous Prime" on them will spawn "A Rotting Corpse" add.

- Kill Xulous Prime along with any mosquitoes or Rotting Corpses still alive to complete the event.

Xulous Prime

Xulous Prime summons from 100% health. He hits for a max ~44,000; flurries; single-target rampages; and AE rampages.

Every 35 seconds, Xulous Prime buffs himself with "Counteract Disease", a 2-tick buff that causes him to power up any time a disease-based spell is used against him:

Xulous Prime conjures a protective shield to counteract disease.

If a player casts a disease spell on him at this time, you'll see this emote, indicating a power-up:

_____ cast a disease spell on Xulos Prime, allowing him to heal and grow stronger.

Every 25 seconds, he AEs "Toxic Blast":

Toxic Blast: PB AE 60', Disease (-1000)
1: Decrease Hitpoints by 62460
2: Knockback (8) and Toss Up (2)

Every 15 seconds, he casts the targeted AE "Festering Pustules" on a random target:

Festering Pustules: Targeted AE 20', Unresistable (-1000)
1: Decrease HP when cast by 19200
2: Decrease Hitpoints by 31920 per tick
3: Increase Disease Counter by 120

If you die with this DOT on you, a zombie called "A Rotting Corpse" spawns in place of your corpse. These adds hit for a max ~37,000; have a lot of hitpoints; and cast the same "Festering Pustules" DOT as Xulous Prime. They also cast a permanent DOT effect called "Decaying Flesh":

Decaying Flesh: Single Target, Unresistable (-1000)
1: Decrease Hitpoints by 19800 per tick (indefinite duration)
2: Decrease Mana by 5400 per tick
3: Decrease Endurance by 3200 per tick

Maggots & Mosquitoes

Around Xulous Prime's spawn point are four green oozes (untargetable, unkillable). At each ooze location, 1x "a maggot" spawns every 40-60 seconds. These are permanently rooted and do NOT summon. They hit for a max ~11,500. These maggots must be killed within 30-40 seconds of their spawn, otherwise they turn into "a mosquito", which is NOT rooted, DOES summon, hits for a max ~24,500 and casts "Infected Bite":

Infected Bite: Single Target, Unresistable (-1000)
1: Amnesia (Silence vs Melee Effect)
2: Decrease Attack Speed by 90% (2 ticks)

Generally, 2-3 DPS classes (per ooze location) should be able to keep the maggot spawns killed without having any mosquitoes spawn.

This has to be done for the entire event's duration.

Cloud of Disease

As Xulous Prime reaches certain health intervals (80%, 60%, 40%, and 20%), you'll see an emote indicating the spawn of a "cloud of disease" aura:

A cloud of disease begins to form around _____. (where the blank is the name of the targeted player)

Shortly after this emote, an aura spawns where the targeted player was standing and then proceeds to follow that player around. The player will need to kite the aura around for the remainder of the event (so, by the end of the event, you'll have four auras being kited by four different players).

Anyone who gets caught inside a cloud of disease aura is inflicted with "Breath of Xulous Prime":

Breath of Xulous Prime: Single Target, Unresistable (-1000)
1: Decrease Spell Haste by 50%
2: Decrease Hitpoints by 34720 per tick (1 tick)
3: Decrease Movement by 50%

Anyone who dies while inflicted with "Breath of Xulous Prime" will spawn "A Rotting Corpse" add.

If the originally targeted player dies or leaves the zone, the cloud of disease chooses a new target:

A cloud of disease moves towards _____.

NOTE: These auras are leashed to the event area. If an aura is leashed, it warps to Xulous Prime's spawn location and summons the originally targeted player to it.

Event Failure & Reset

Once Xulous Prime is initially aggro'd, his aggro range (along with that of all event adds) increases to the range of the entire zone. This aggro range only resets upon a full event reset.

The event itself will reset within 30 seconds of all NPCs being idle, with all corpses warping to the zone-in, all adds despawning, and Xulous Prime respawning at his original location.

Event Completion

Kill Xulous Prime (and any mosquitoes or Rotting Corpses that happen to be alive) to complete the event.

Xulous Prime has been slain by _____!
A cloud of dust and filth fills the air as Xulous Prime's lifeless body crashes to the ground.

Loot

NOTE: In addition to chest loot, everyone in the zone receives 10x "Medal of Heroism" (used as an alternative way obtain raid drops, from Requisitioner Sheon (map image), the Tier 1 raid vendor in the northwestern Qeynos camp of the Ethernere Tainted West Karana).
