There is an NPC named Ged Twigborn who hangs around another NPC and they will wander the forest at times. I usually see them in one of two places: either along the same wall as the zone to the commonlands, or by turning on the path off the main road from the sign pointing towards Freeport. Ged will make you some gloves for a price. The Bearskin Gloves cost 25 gold and a high quality bear skin.

This is like the Bear Cape you get from Chanda Miller in Qeynos Hills. Hand in a 30PP item and about another 2.5 PP in gold to get back, at best, a 3PP item. Bad from a financial standpoint, but I guess if you are in the zone and have the bear skin and the money and are desperate to upgrade your AC (you're a cloth or leather only class, metal wearing classes needn't bother) and are having trouble finding something better, or if you're just curious about them and want to see how good they are, or you already have all the other bearskin items from the other quests and want to complete the set, then go for it. Agreed, early on before you had hundreds of 50 plussers auctioning stuff brought back from places lower levels can't go this may have been a nice item to have, but not anymore.
Ummmm... the bear cloak is only 1AC point less than a banded cloak and weighs a heck of a lot less. Metal wearing classes can and should get this if they can, especially if strength is an issue. I realize that your message is old but since Luclin and the higher availabilty of HQ Rockhopper hides for recipes involving HQ Bear Skins, you just can't get very much for them anymore. I haven't been able to get more than 10PP for them lately, which makes the loss a bit more bearable.

You can also get Bearskin Gloves by completing the Bandit Sisters quest that starts in Felwithe.

Guys, Are you NEW or something? or just plain TWINKS, this quest is as old as most of you guys. Back in the day when SplitPaw Tunics were ubber when everyone was wearing cloth this was a good quest. Now that 95% of the people in the game are planes lvl. That's my 2 cent. maybe you will consider the age of the quest and base your comment on that.

on zebuxurox a hq bear can get 40pp normally and 30pp easily. Why would you give that up for ac5 gloves??????. It would cost what maybe 4 or 5 plat to buy something simialar. So why would anyone do this???

HQ bear skin sells around 20 to 30.. no one would buy gloves for 15, and... hand made bag is much more important..

they're the same AC, add +5 to save vs. cold (the bearskin don't), and
weigh less. Not to mention that a HQ lionskin is infinitely easier to get
(or buy) than HQ bearskin. And if you really want Bearskin, do the Nybright
Sisters quest!

I've killed a lot of grizzlies with my various characters, and I'm convinced they don't ever drop HQ bear skins. Brown bears do, however.
I certainly agree that a high-quality bear skin is better sold. The going price on Innoruuk is 25 pp. The bearskin gloves, on the other hand, are heavy and not especially great otherwise.

It isn't uncommon for a HQ pelt to drop off of a polar bear in Everfrost.
This seems to be true. All the bear skin drops from ruined to high seem to be much more frequent in Everfrost than anywhere else and they drop off of level 2 cubs no less!! Talk about low risk/high reward farming!! Plus you can get polar bear skins which can be turned in to Cindl in Macs Kilts for xp, faction, some coin and a piece of large tattered/patchwork which you can sell for a gold or two. Halas is definitely a tailor friendly town. :)
Edit: There are also snow leopards and wolves in Everfrost along with wooly spiderlings/spiders so you can farm for medium and small pelts as well as silks.

i lotted a Grizzly Bear & Goat a HQ skin, but i did not kill it some 1 left there?

The Nybright sister quest DOES give you the same gloves, for nothing more than the cost of 4 no drop necklaces from the sisters turned in in Kelethin. The reward is random though, and out of about a dozen times doing the quest (it's great xp in the low teens) I got the gloves twice. So if you have the time, forget this quest and go kill the nybrights.

A tailor can make a 10 slot backpack out of a HQ Bear Pelt and a backpack pattern. The tailor's skills needs to be fairly well developed, so don't wast a HQ Bear Pelt trying to make one yourself unless you are a good tailor. On the Prexus Server, most of the HQ Bear Pelts sell for 30pp, but if you are shrewd enough, you can usually get 40pp for them :) In any event, don't do this quest, its better to sell the pelt and buy better gloves with that money.
