Rain of Fear Information & Guides: An Overview | Group Progression & Task List | Raid Progression | Visible Armor

This is a kill task that begins with a giant named Silnik (map) at /location -1820, 2930, 144 in Zeixshi-Kar's Awakening (outside the giant fort in the northwestern part of the zone).

You say, 'Hail, Silnik'

Silnik glances down, then suddenly turns pale and closes his eyes, and starts to clutch desperately at the banner behind him, 'Dear Brell! I'm going to [fall]!'

You say, 'Fall?'

Silnik says 'I'm not good with heights; they make me dizzy. Gnomes just aren't cut out for things like this!' He opens one eye carefully, keeping his gaze carefully skyward. After a few deep breaths he relaxes a bit and asks hopefully, in your general direction, 'I don't suppose my [companions] sent you to help me?'

You say, 'Your companions?'

Silnik says 'Baffod, Taelanie, and Tramric. Baffod somehow managed to get lost - again - and I wound up being left alone while Taelanie went to find him, and Tramric went to scout ahead. So when I saw a pair of giants approaching, I cast an illusion, to disguise myself as a giant, in the hopes of avoiding a fight. But it [backfired].'

You say, 'Backfired?'

Silnik says 'The next thing I knew, I'd been recruited to join their army. I can't even sneak away to escape; whenever I move I get dizzy. It's all because of this blasted illusion! If I could just turn back into a Gnome, I'd be fine, but I don't dare take off my disguise with so many enemies around. Won't you [help] me?'

You say, 'I will help'

Silnik says 'Thank Brell! If you could cause a distraction - maybe rid the fort here of some of its inhabitants? - that might allow me to sneak away unnoticed.'

You have been assigned the task 'HO-HO-Help!'.

Silnik has asked you to slay the inhabitants of the fort so she can finally remove her disguise and return to her friends.

Slay the inhabitants of the fort 0/8 (Zeixshi-Kar's Awakening)

Kill mobs inside the giant fort.

Note: You may need to be inside the giant fort in order to get credit. If you pull mobs outside the fort, then only the first player to aggro the mob will get credit (or no credit will be given at all).

Speak with Silnik 0/1 (Zeixshi-Kar's Awakening)

But not for a whole raid and it is still bugged for the group.
Did the task with a bunch of 18 people. This task is still today crap. Only the group with the kill/pull got the task despite all 18 people beat on the mob. But even in the aggro/pull-group one got no single credit.

I would suggest opening a ticket on dgcissuetracker.com for this so the devs can fix it.

Getting Updates
# Jan 31 2015 at 4:53 PM Rating: Decent
Don't know if anyone still does these but I'm going to post this anyway .. we went back to do these to get our stone of the landing updated and all you have to do is be inside the giant fort when you kill them. The first couple we killed did not give us credit but after we went inside they all counted for the whole group.

Well this quest gave ZERO exp at level 94 and 92.

had no issues completing it, only took 8 mobs inside. But upon turning it in I only got plat, no mention of exp nor any bar movement.

Oh well.

With RoF mercenary "kill" tasks, you only get regular experience :(

And very little of it, Could possibly why you did not see the bar move

I saw the same as Severos - if I pulled them outside, no credit. Kill them inside, worked fine.

I just completed this quest in a 4-box setup, with one toon just invised for the entirety of the quest, and all 4 toons got updates on each kill. 8 kills and done for all.
tricky

In my Setup (ENC, MAG, MAG, DRU + 2 MERC) only the one got the Update, was the one who aggrot the mob first. You can change this using memblur.

In addition, pulling mobs outside the fort didn't get any updates at all for that task.

I confirm that the puller gets the credit. I also see that the person getting the credit gets credit for kills equal to the number of real players in the group. In my case that was three.

Yes it seems buggy, just keep killing mobs... My tank and cleric updated on first 8 kills... I said WTF! Dumped the task on everyone else in the group and had them redo the task... Killed mobs for like 15 minutes and then two more group members updated... Then dumped task on other group members and had them get task again... onekill later they both updated to 6/8... So i say again... just keep killing... 8Xnumber in your group will get you there... Or solo it if you are Uber...

Joshual is correct, you pull it, you get the credit no matter who kills it. So if you got 4 in group, you need to pull 32 mobs. I assume you got to both pull and be alive when it dies.

The only way on a consistent basic to get an update at this point is to be the 1st person to get aggro on the mob. Did this for 4 people and it worded everytime. You did not have to be in melee range.

Yes, this quest is VERY buggy. It seems that the only way to get an update is to be standing on top of the mob when its killed. Killed 10 various creatures from the fort with ranged spells...no updates. Killed 5 more and finally got 2 updates.

Oh, and dont be standing on top of them while being too high either. If you have lev, go ALL the way down to the ground or it wont update either. The kill credit range must be insanely tiny for these. And even when you are right on top of the mob, it only registers about a third of the time.

Buggy!

I'm thinking this task is not bugged, but instead needs a different tactic to get the updates.

I killed 8 mobs in a row and my tank was the only one to get an update, but got all 8 updates in a row.
The others in the group did not get any updates during this time.

When a pull went bad, the wizard snared and rooted the mobs up. As we killed them off, ONLY the wizard got the updates.

It seems there is a mechanic where the first person gets hit gets the update, or who has the most agro, or something along those lines. But essentially, you'll only get 1 update per person at a time in this task, so it's going to take a while.

This task appears buggy. My warrior completed the task 3 times and my cleric never got a single update. I don't know if it's a proximity issue or what but something's definitely amiss.
