Priestess Caulria in the temple in North Qeynos (the one in leather near the back wall) gives the quest, which requires you to look into the occurrence of rabid wolves in the area. Rabid wolves and bears are found in the Qeynos Hills. Return a 'diseased wolf pelt' to her for faction bonuses, experience and a 'cure disease' spell that she casts on you to purge you of that annoying Plague Rat Disease and Rabies.

You say, 'Hail, Priestess Caulria'

Priestess Caulria says 'Welcome to the holy Temple of Life. Your presence shows an interest in our ways. We are the followers of the [Prime Healer] and would gladly open our arms to any who [serve Rodcet Nife]. Do we not all owe our lives to the sustaining force of the Prime Healer?'

You say, 'Prime Healer'

Priestess Caulria says 'The Prime Healer is Rodcet Nife. The one whose power flows through your body. He is the air that you breathe. To serve Him is to serve every living creature. Do you wish to [serve the Prime Healer] or do you [need more time for contemplation]?'

You say, 'serve the Prime Healer'

Note: This quest lead-in phrase is currently bugged, Priestess Caulira will simply repeat the phrase above asking if you wish to serve the prime healer. You can simply give her a diseased pelt now, provided you have enough faction.
Priestess Caulria says 'Then you are commanded by the Prime Healer to go into the surrounding terrirories of Qeynos and destroy any rabid creatures you may encounter. There will not be an outbreak of disease within reach of the Temple of Life, see to it! Bring me pelts of any rabid beast as proof of your good deed.'

You say, 'need more time for contemplation'

Priestess Caulria says 'I understand. Sometimes a person can be filled with the lies of so many other false deities that he cannot see the truth when it lies in front of him.'

  • Turn in diseased pelts to her.

  • Priestess Caulria says 'I see you have rid our land of a beast tainted with the blood of Bertoxxulous. The Prime Healer shall look favorably upon your soul. Here is our thanks and just in case the beast may have bitten you...'

Your faction standing with Priests of Life has been adjusted by 5.
Your faction standing with Knights of Thunder has been adjusted by 1.
Your faction standing with Guards of Qeynos has been adjusted by 2.
Your faction standing with Bloodsabers has been adjusted by -1.
Your faction standing with Antonius Bayle has been adjusted by 1.
    You gain experience!!

Checked this info out on Agnarr. The Priestess takes the pelt, no indication of she wanting to (as in the info already there) and the rewards/faction are correct.

Hmmm, wonder how long ago this broke. I added in the dialogue she is SUPPOSED to say but doesn't. I tried every combination of phrases I could possibly think of but if you say anything which includes: Rodcet, Nife, Prime, or Healer she will just repeat the same line.

some one help with the Coyote Skull. What is it for? Just started dropping this week.

The Coyote Skull is used to make the Breastplate of the Rainkeeper which is part of the Paladin of Karana armour quests.

Don't know, but there's also a "plague rat tail" that drops in the aqueducts. My best guess is, these are for the Qeynos newbie quests, which haven't been activated yet.

I have done this quest many times with various characters, but this afternoon I killed a rabid wolf, and he dropped a coyote skull along with the deseased pelt. It is a magic item with no stats. does anyone have an idea what it is for?

When you turn in the fleshy orb to Lome Tredor (hes in the magic user's guild), he'll give you a fine steel weapon worth 7-8 pp. It's well worth the trip to Freeport if you have the time and you're still low level. The xp wasn't bad either.
    great for lvl9!

I turned in 4 pelts and got half a bubble at lvl 9 so this is great for faction and exp!
    Fleshy Orb too
    # Feb 15 2001 at 3:15 AM Rating: Default
I found on a gnoll shaman or gnoll high shaman-- not sure which a No Drop Lore Item called Fleshy Orb. It is black and round. Looks sort of like Hematite. On a lark I walked up to Caulria and said "What Fleshy Orb?" She said something like "I do not know what you are talking about. Let me see it." So I gave it to her. She gave me xp and some gp and told me to go to Freeport and give it to Lorme Tredore (I think he's in the Temple of Marr).
Other people told me she did not give them this additional information but I am a Cleric so I probably have better faction.
Anyways, I haven't completed delivery to Lorme Tredore yet.
Will post more info when I get some.
    Good Experience
    # Dec 22 2000 at 5:16 PM Rating: Excellent
This is a pretty easy quest, great for lower levels. You get enough exp to make this worthwhile. Getting rabies from the wolf can be a nuisance, but remember Princess Caulria will cure you when you give her a diseased pelt. I have hunted rabid wolves for the sole purpose of gaining the experience from it. I got exp when I killed the wolf and exp when I turned in the pelt. Im not saying this is the best way to get exp at that level, but difinately worth killing one if you come across it.

The rabid wolves spawn between the guard tower and the entrance to Black Burrow. There is a long valley there and they spawn at the end closest to Black Burrow. Then then trot diagonally across the valley, up over the hill toward the large direction marker. At that level I just liked to hang out in that valley and on the side of the hill, killing the wolves and giant rats. Since I was right there anyways, I was around the rabid wolves spawn.
    Great for Faction
    # Sep 15 2000 at 9:27 AM Rating: Default
This quest I did to bring my faction up so I as a High Elf Cleric could train in the Temple of Life. Much better than turning in bone chips to Lashun Novashine. I went from Apprehensive to Indifferent with 3 rabid wold pelts (prior to this I had turned in about 20 bone chips to Lashun). However I had a guild member help me track Holly Windstalker and Cros Treewind. For those of you that don't know, Holly and Cros will kill you on sight if you are caught either being attacked by or attacking a bear or wolf. Doesn't matter if the animal is rabid or attacked you first. (Watch out for Tovax also, Nasty Necro NPC that wanders Qeynos Hills, but he's lvl 15ish.)
Rabid bear pelts are great also, plus normally Priestess Clarissa (sp) will give you 1 or 2 pp, exp and I think the spell is Endure Disease, but not sure.
I hope this helps. Journey Safely and Hunt Well

    # Sep 15 2000 at 9:32 AM Rating: Default
Doh, the Priestess name is at the top, if I would read first. LOL
I have not gotten the scroll Endure Disease from her for turning in the rabid wolf pelts, although she will cure you (cast cure disease on you).
You do get exp, faction, 1-2pp, and the scroll Endure disease for turning in a rabid grizzly/bear pelt.
    Bears, too
    # Jul 19 2000 at 6:56 AM Rating: Decent
Wolf skins sometimes also gets you an Endure Disease spell scroll. Killing a rabid grizzly sometimes yields a putrid bear skin. The Priestess will, in addition to xp, pay 2 plat.
