    This group mission begins with Arcanist Tivalin (click for map image) in Katta Castrum. He is located near the port-in point of Katta Castrum.

    Pre-requisites for Requesting:
    - Completion of "Confront Emperor Vaakiszh"

    The starting NPC is bugged in that he won't reply properly, but you can still request the task by saying "venture into silyssar" (the key phrase). You can interact with him normally if you're sneaking.

    You say, 'Hail, Arcanist Tivalin'

    Arcanist Tivalin says 'What's that? You! You're one of those outsiders! You must have had a run in with the Shissar while you were in this area. [Yes]?'

    You say, 'Yes'

    Arcanist Tivalin says 'Good, good, now since you've undoubtedly heard about their stronghold, Silyssar, I thought I would impose on you for a bit of help in my [research].'

    You say, 'Research?'

    Arcanist Tivalin says 'Ah you see we once shared quite a bit of information with the Shissar in regards to magic and enchantments. I admit I was quite taken with how they did things and have studied their methodology for many years. Lately though I've come across several bits of magic by them that I just don't quite understand. I just know if I could figure out how they managed [it] we could find some way to solve one or both of the major problems facing us.'

    You say, 'How they managed it?'

    Arcanist Tivalin says 'Well there are really two important things they have accomplished. The first is that the Shissar have found a way to power their magic domes outside of the use of the Pellarus Satum artifact here in the city. Their domes are not decaying at nearly the same rate as ours. Perhaps if we can discover how they are managing this, it will allow us to repair the damage that has been done. The problem is I need a brave soul to [venture into Silyssar] for me to retrieve information and artifacts regarding this accomplishment. Then there is their [second] achievement. . .'

    You say, 'I will venture into Silyssar'

    Arcanist Tivalin says 'I knew you would help! Here are my notes on what I've found out so far. Whatever you can retrieve for me will help my research. I only hope it is enough to help restore some of the power to the dome.'

    You have been assigned the task 'The Source of Shissar Power'.

    Arcanist Tivalin needs you to retrieve any of the artifacts and materials used in the enchantments supporting the Shissar's dome. With those items he believes he can discover how the Shissar have managed to preserve their dome and possibly put that knowledge to use saving Katta Castrum.

    Find your way in to Silyssar 0/1 (Zhisza, the Shissar Sanctuary)

    The zone-in is the same as the non-instanced Silyssar zone-in (back of the cave just north of the Zhisza zone-in point).

    Destroy any of the Shissar power conduits you find 0/2 (Silyssar, New Chelsith)

    Retrieve any materials the Shissar ritualists might have 0/2 (Silyssar, New Chelsith)

    Bring Tivalin any of the Shissar collection bowls you find 0/4 (Katta Castrum)

    Make your way to the third floating pyramid (the eastern of the three) and to the bottom two floors. There is an NPC called "a power conduit" on each of those two floors that needs to be killed. These have ~40,000 hitpoints. Whoever gets the killshot receives "Power Conduit Shard" on their cursor.

    Kill the ritualists and loot "Vial of Inky Blood" from them.

    The Collection Bowls are ground spawns in various rooms on the bottom two floors.

    Take the shards from the power conduits to Arcanist Tivalin 0/2 (Katta Castrum)

    Bring vials of blood to Arcanist Tivalin 0/2 (Katta Castrum)

    Upon turn-in, you see:

    From these items it appears the Shissar have managed to harness a completely different power source than the artifact in the city. In an almost necromantic enchantment they have been using the lifeblood of Shissar sacrifices to reinforce the power of their domes. Unfortunately this magic holds little immediate value for the Combine as they are unlikely to be willing to go to the lengths necessary.

    I can confirm that you do not need this task to get the Immortal Coils task.
