To get task update, the battle plans need to be looted from a Black Legion mob. If the battle plans are looted from a Red Legion mob, you won't get task update.
I am on Thornblade server, but I am sure Mischief is the same.

This task is available from Scout Zryan with kindly faction. He is located just east of Sunderock Springs zoneline by a rock with another NPC, at -1620, -1010. He is the one crouching.
You say, 'Hail, Scout Zryan' Scout Zryan says 'Greetings, ______! It's nice to find a friendly face in these forsaken lands. I've been scouting the Ashengate temple, looking for a way in. Dyn`leth's armies keep the [approach] heavily guarded, but we may just have a chance.' You say, 'What approach?' Scout Zryan says 'When outnumbered, the superior warrior stalks with patience and strikes only when the time is right. Here is what must be done. . . ' You have been assigned the task 'The Black Legion'. Beyond the outer gate, you will find the encampment of the Black Legion, a great force that mobilizes to attack our encampment in Sunderock. We need their battle plans before they attack! The plans will be difficult to capture, as Dyn'leth is notorious for entrusting his battle plans to loyal low ranking soldiers who can blend in with the rest of his forces. Any black legion member could be holding them!' Go to the Black Legion encampment high in the northern cliffs. Hurry! You must steal the plans before the Black Legion marches! Zryan says 'Now that you have the Ashengate seal, you can use its magic to temporarily disable the guardian statues and enter ashengate itself!' Find Dyn'leth's Battle Plans 0/1 (Direwind Cliffs) Deliver the Battle Plans to Zryan 0/1 (Direwind Cliffs) Your task 'The Black Legion' has been updated. Scout Zryan says, 'So Dyn`leth's plans to march against our emcampment does he! Ha! Let's see him try. With your reconaissance and these stolen plans, his forces will never breach our perimeter.' Your faction standing with Crusade of the Scale got better. Your faction standing with Forces of Dyn'leth got worse. Your faction standing with Circle of the Crystalwing got better. In case the separate "find" & "deliver" with only the former revealed when the task has been accepted isn't enough of a tip off -- He wouldn't take the plans I already had.
