This goes nicely with "Hardy Seeds" (Seed Pods drop from same mobs) task from Farmer D`Resh (can be found in room with 3 other Farmers: Jade Dragon Inn, first floor, last room on right).
Also: Smithy Bronson has task: "Kindling for the Fires" requiring Hedge Devil Branches.
Akins #3 - Dead Wood: The Shambling Mounds

This is the third task in a series of six. The tasks must be completed in order, and may be repeated after completion.
Upon completing the previous task, speak with Akins again: You say, 'Hail, Akins' Akins says 'Vasha, _____. Since you seem just as eager as me to explore all things that go bump in the night! Goodie! Well I have a new area that might interest you. It seems that in Blightfire Moors is an area that appears to be quite scary that just thinking about it gives me the [shivers]!' You say, 'Shivers?' Akins says 'Within the moors is a true marsh, draped in tendrils of swirling fog and crawling with all manner of creepy creatures including some sort of walking shrub. Now I have a [theory] that might explain this.' You say, 'What theory?' Akins says 'By my diligence and gift of nosiness, I have learned that the marsh emanates some sort of powerful magic. I believe that these walking bushes might be the restless spirits of the living who are somehow bound to this location. Go there and find these walking bushes. Then bring me back some samples of wood from them. I will be able to deduce just what may be responsible for this condition. Hurry! I can hardly contain my excitement at figuring this out!' You have been assigned the task 'Dead Wood: The Shambling Mounds'. Head out to Blightfire Moors and kill 6 shambling mounds. You also need to loot 4 Shambling Mound Branches. The "shambling mounds" can be any of: a hedge devil a baleful briar a howling briar a briar thorn a hedge devil and a baleful briar are confirmed to drop the Shambling Mound Branch. The others likely do as well. Once you have everything turn over the 4 Shambling Mound Branch to Akins. You pile the branches you retrieved upon Akin's desk. He examines each one by holding it up to the light and even chewing on them a bit. Shaking his head he turns to you with a puzzled look and explains that the branches emanate an ancient and powerful magic but that he's not certain it is related to spirits of the deceased. Is just me, or sounds kinda stupid you need to be lvl 25 to get this quest, but just 20 to get #4 in this series?
It's not you, it Is very stupid. Being unable to do this quest at level 20 I'm leaving Crescent Reach and heading to Blightfire Moors. The crazy thing is I'm going to be leveling up to 25 by killing the same mobs this quest deems I'm not yet ready to kill.

Just out of interest, does anyone know what the loot is? It says quest goal: Loot, Money. So OK, you get your 7pp for money, what about loot? Or is the loot supposed to be the 7pp plus xp?
stay away from the howling briars if you are soloing and under 30. they have boatloads of mana and continually heal themselves.
I also had a problem commencing this one. Rather than get the "nothing for someone with your skills" notice, I simply just did not get the quest. I tried at livesl 23, 24 and 25!

Not broken, just level-limited. It won't give the quest to me at level 20 either, so I will come back at 25 and try again. Many quests are limited as to the level-range in which you can get them.
I and my group completed the first two tasks of this series and got the ring at level 13. When we tried to begin this one he got to the "By my diligence..." part but then said he had nothing for someone with our skills. Is there a level minimum on this task and does anyone know what it may be?
