This is the first task in a series of four. It begins with Maven Bellstone who may be found at -1185, +80 in the Direwind Cliffs.
You say, 'Hail, Maven Bellstone' Maven Bellstone says 'It is as clear today as it was years ago... Thriving, growing, our future looked bright. I look back and only wonder what could have been. Finally, out of the darkness came Captain Vunsolu, his sword held high. The excitement grew, as we looked on in anticipation of [good news].' You say, 'What good news?' Maven Bellstone says 'Vunsolu looked towards us and let out a sigh, as he spoke of how many great warriors fell in battle. I tried fervently to fight my way through the thick crowd, to find out what happened to her... my one true love. I was unable to reach the captain in time. Before I knew it, he had disappeared into the night. Find out what happened to Felena for me.' You have been assigned the task 'Finding Felena'. Felena, Maven's one true love, has gone missing. Find out what happened to Felena. Search the Steppes for signs of Captain Vonsolu 0/1 (The Steppes) Find Captain Vonsolu at -1580, 335 in the Steppes. His body lies inside a small stone building in the goblin camp. Most goblins do not see invis but take care, just in case. The task will update as you stand outside the structure. You need to enter it and pick up a groundspawn that lies next to the Captain's body. This is a Note From Captain Vonsolu. Deliver Captain Vonsolu's final words to Maven 0/1 (Direwind Cliffs) Hand in the Note to Maven Maven Bellstone says, 'What have you got there? I see... I see, you found this on Vunsolu's body you say? Oh Felena, where are you...' You gain experience!! Talk to Maven again for the next task. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

cap volunso -1580/335 is on the griffon clifsf there si nothgin there, guide says in goblin hut -1580/335, but this is in middle of named griffon cliffs...

You kinda lost me here. I am on Finding Felena 3 now. And it takes place in the Vergalid Mines.

STEP 1: Deliver Vonsulu's last transcript to Kluno Orenbrew' (/loc-934 -656 257) and he says:
Kluno Orenbrew says 'Before you say anything, I can already tell you that Maven has sent you. I have been waiting patiently for your [arrival].'
Your task 'Finding Felena' has been updated.
You say, 'arrival'
Kluno Orenbrew says 'Yes.. yes, I know a great many things. I also know that you are short on time if you wish to find what you seek. If you do have your eyes set on finding what became of the girl Felena, forge your way into the ascent and return to me with four samples of indigenous materials. I should be able to gain a clear vision of what has transpired there with those materials.'
Steps 2, 3, 4 and 5 are to round up the ground spawns:
Direwind Soil Sample (/loc 1267, -479)
Sulphuric Mineral Compound (/loc -1078, -651)
Encrusted Magnesium Deposit (/loc -2066, -586)
Darksoot Mushroom (/loc 1615, 994)

Still a HUGE bottleneck at the Sulphuric stone thingee... any more locs or advice?
You can copy and paste the following into your direwind_1.txt map.

Kluno Orenbrew says 'Keep a careful watch on your surroundings - I seldom enjoy finding out that i was the one to send brave souls to their death. I wonder if an old hermit I used to know by the name of Rozoth Orbu still dwells in that region. You may want to seek him out, as he is wise beyond his years and may have information as to her whereabouts.'

Rozoth Orbu is in Vergalid mines, His location is 220, -670 in a tent. He has 2 or 3 npc's around that aggro if your KoS. Once hailing him, you get,

Rozoth Orbu says 'Kluno indeed know what he was doing when he sent you down into this desolate place. I had sensed a presence of those who did not belong down in these depths. As to the nature of their visit, i am unsure. I can only be certain of one thing; they were [not alone]. Then suddenly, i felt the area settle -- for the most part, mind you, a few hours later.'

Step 2 : Search the mines for any traces of Felena
I am in the process of triggering the "not alone" from Rozoth, since i am doing this solo, and was killed instantly soon as i dropped invis and hailed by surrounding npcs.

Days, weeks, months will disappear and they still fail to realize that the crystal supply from the mine will eventually run dry. Whoever it was that ventured this way certainly had stopped near the Zek shrine. Felena, was it? If you manage to locate an artifact from her party, I will do what I can to provide more information as to her more recent whereabouts for you.'

I spent a day killing at the shrine, inside and out, and nothing updated the task. I ran through the whole zone all the way down to Verglid with no update. If anyone comes across this "artifact from her party" i'd much apreciate the info.

Located finally. exact /loc for the one I found is -1090, -683, 12.
Facing the falls (at the bottom) it was on the clif side to the left of the falls. I spoted it when lev'ing down from the top. Best of luck to the rest of you.

If you can't find it poke your head into the rock at the base of the waterfall. It will often times spawn under the rock. You can't get it if it does spawn under the rock and I have had no luck getting a GM to reset the spawn. I had to get lucky on a zone restart after patch for it to spawn above ground where I could get it.
If it is still spawning under the rock make sure to bug and petition it so we can get it fixed

OK. The sulphuric compound must be on an extremely LONG timer. I have been to the loc and have yet to find it up. Have tried in the morning, afternoon, evening and nothing. I have even sat near the spawn point for about 2 hrs and it never spawned. I heard a rumor that the respawn is on a 24 hour timer but I can't confirm this. Any one have any insight?

I found the other 3 but can't seem to spot the Sulphuric. I checked the locs posted, nada. The Soil though I found in a different loc (same area) as the 2 posted here (was 1313 and something) near a tree in the Koda alcove so my guess is there's at least 5 random locs in the areas, though more likely 20 :-p

I can't find the one near the waterfall to save my life :( Ive been running all around the base all to the top clicking on everything imagineable. I dont even see anything that looks like it could be picked up :( Can someone be more specific of what I should be looking for? is it on a ledge..in the water? in a crack?i went to a loc someone posted but saw nothing.

soil sample is on the ground in the back of an alcove where koda walks
mushroom is ground spawn in the mushroom caves
another ground spawn to the right from zone in by a rock and last one is by the waterfall on the wall around it

Thanks for the info...I found the mushroom, soil sample and suphuric items but I cant find the Encrusted Magnesium Deposit. Your post said "another ground spawn to the right from zone in by a rock" and I have search the entire area right of the zone in but have not found it (up to the See Invise guys). Any more detail desription of where the Encrusted Magnesium Depositground spawn is loacted?

Do you have a /loc of where the Sulphuric Mineral Compound is? After running around the waterfall for an hour and not being able to find it, I'm about to lose my mind. :(

found it, sulphuric mineral compound at -1078, -651.
Turn all 4 in to Kluno Orenbrew for some xp and to unlock a new chapter in the Finding Felena quest.

Can you please verify that loc on the Sulphuric Mineral Compound? that is awful close to the Task giver (at the foot of the falls) and I find it unlikely that they would put it so close.
I have looked all over that area. and just can't find that spawn. Thanks!

Well "I" am not finding it. Is it a graphical glitch that some folks can't see it or what? I've searched for just under an hour clicking everything. I saw the other items no problem but just can't seem to see this one anywhere around, in, or under the waterfall.

This trick works for all items that are embedded in objects such as rocks or bookcases(gate neck items). You have to do this when you actually get to the object - becuase you can't move around once you change the settings. It basically makes items invisible so you can see through them. Its pretty cool. Sometimes its just shows a brown/black view screen - but the item is always visible.
Once you are at the object- go to Options / Display tab and turn down the LOD Bias setting all the way down. If an item is there - it will show up.
Once you get the item - turn LOD Bias back to whereever u had it(middle position most likely) and you can move again.

Changed to wolf form and started sticking nose in rocks at base of waterfall and sure enough could see it *inside* rock because camera goes through rocks in wolf form. So now I could see it, but couldn't click on it. Tried some other illusions and in skeleton form when I sat down I ended up partially in rock and clicked and got it. Obviously a bug, but there is a cheap work around - off to Verigalid Mines step...

Kluno Orenbrew is at -934 -656 257, he's at the lake above the waterfall NE from the druid ring. The items he asks for are an Encrusted Magnesium Deposit, a Sulphuric Mineral Compound, a Direwind Soil Sample and a Darksoot Mushroom.
I had the Darksoot Mushroom in the bank, I'm a complusive hoarder :), if I remember right it drops off a named in the mushroom caves, the rooted one surrounded by a bunch of smaller mobs. Not 100% on that though since I killed it over a week ago.

After you turn in the transcript to the giant Kluno you're assigned a task with the same name, but you have to collect 4 rare items in Direwind, which I haven't even see yet.
Captian vunsolu is at the bottom middle of the map in the building of the Steeps. He is lying on his back. Loc is -1580.28, 335.51, 4.44. He has a little bag on the ground you need to pick up. Turn the note (the bag) into Maven and get experience. Then you can get another Finding Felena quest. That one is to deliver a note to Kluno Orenbrew. Kluno is in direwinds but do not have the exact location yet. But he should be North East (more towards east tho).

I found Felena - The Steppes at approximately 2811, -117. Captain Vunsolu is at -1577, 326. The name is spelled differently, but I am not so sure if that matters (Vonsolu vs. Vunsolu).
