Prospector Keykis spawns in Grimling Forest near the cave to Tenebrous Mountains only after the successful completion of all of General Staginar's raids.
You say 'Hail Prospector Keykis.' Prospector Keykis says 'Oh, hello! Are you busy at the moment...I need a [quick favor].' You say 'Quick favor?' Prospector Keykis says 'With your prowess, this task shouldn't be too difficult. A bit time consuming maybe, but worth the effort. I need ore samples from deep within the mountain .. from Acrylia Caverns itself. Now, I'm looking for a specific form of the ore .. pristine shards. The Grimlings of the caverns apparently use these as money so you'll no doubt have an easier time finding the shards on ...ahem...them. But you have to be [careful].' You say 'Why careful?' Prospector Keykis says 'Well, no one outside the caverns has actually ever seen a pristine shard. And I'd like to keep it that way. Take this staff and put the samples in it. It has secret compartments in it that should hold the eight shards I'm after. Return it to me and I'll make it well worth your while.' At this point he gives you an 8-slot container Compartmented Staff to be filled. The shards are random drops form any grimling in Acrylia Caverns. Combine eight of them in Compartmented Staff to get Shard Filled Staff. Give that to Keykis. Prospector Keykis says 'Yes...exactly whay I was after. On the down side, such a pure source of Acrylia will no doubt fuel this war further. But, on the up side, there's a lot of profit to be made. Thank you, Sharrien. At level 60, I was grouped in AC for a few hours. Collected 8 of these.
At level 60, I got 16% AA exp. Considering I'd get that in about 20mins of group time in AC, not worth it.

what are the PHs for the Prospector? How do you get him to spawn?
The six slot chest is for the acylia ore samples quest. It's indicated on the left above under related quests.

I just completed this quest today.
At level 57, I got a blue bubble of experience. AND the 750pp. Not bad. I was NOT grouped, by the way.
When you combine the 8 Pristine Shards in the staff that Prospector Keykis gives you, it turns it into a "Shard Filled Staff". This is what you give to the Prospector to get your reward.
I finally found him, he was standing on a large rock beside the entrance to Tenebrous. I ran back and forth 3 or 4 times before I finally saw him. Wish I had tracking, hmmph.
The XP reward was nice, even though it only took 40 minutes or so off my soloing time. Hey, I'll take what I can get.
As long as you're lucky enough to have the Prospector be up when you're in the zone, I would do this quest. Collect 8 shards and hold on to them, and when you see him, you can hail him, get the staff, fill it up and hit combine, and hand it back while he is standing there. He doesn't despawn either so someone else can do it right after you.

I don't know bout any 6-slot box. The posts about the 8 part Segmented staff are definately correct. I've done the quest, yes 750pp nice pay off.
The zone doesn't respawn after you do the quest, at least not right away, as prospector was up for 2 days before the zone repopped. Probably broken like Hollowshade Moors was for sooooooooo long, and you have to petition to get it reset.
8 Pristine Shards in 1 Segmented container nets 750pp and some xp.
the Grimling Camp raids, yield some FT items and Bane weapons stuffs...
worthwhile all around in my opinion.

For this particular turn in, (the pristine acrylia shards) to actually get experience, you must be ungrouped for now. They may fix that. I know this because I had been saving shards for a while and had 24. I did 2 turn-ins and got 3 blue of AA exp per turn in at lvl 59. Joined up with my wife who then did 2 turn ins, no exp for either of us. Disbanded and then did a third turn in each and got 3 blue AA exp again. /shrug
Great reward though, 750pp and a good chunk of exp as long as you are not grouped at the time of the turn in. Good luck to you other prospectors.

I just went there said the things to him as listed above, he gave me the staff, i filled it with the shards i had collected from acyrlia caverns, combined, gave it back to him, 750pp back to me :D
Well I just did the quest last night, the text was the same as above, and he gave me the 8 slot staff, I filled it with the shards and turned it in. I got 750p but no experience.
Also it takes a VERY long time before you have to do the battles again as the zone doesn't immediately reset. It's been over a week since my friends and I did the war to get the kitties to take over the camp, and they are still there *sigh*

Now Keykris hands you a chest instead of a staff and he wants six samples put in it. Does anyone know what type of acrylia goes in the box? Has anyone doen the modified quest? Pl;ease reply if you have. Thanks.

i hailed the prosepctor today and he gave me a six slot container (prosepctor's sample chest" and said he needed a "range of samples from within the mine" he didnt say exactly what samples, this has changed from the conversationl isted above. is it still the same quest and is it something my 26 lvl paldin should ignore for now?

what you got was a 6 slot box, (you hailed the wroug NPC). the box is for the heads of the named grimlings in the caves in grimling forest,and maybe some named in AC as well... not to sure. if you hail the correct npc (the one at the left side of the cave heading to TM) then you will get the 8 slotted staff for the shards.

Well with both grimling forest and AC revamped can anyone confirm if the Prospector Keykis can still be spawned or if they changed it to a timer spawn? =/ I finally looted my 8th pristine acrylia shard and came here only to find he doesn't spawn till the general's quest is completed.. I wish SoE would take greater care in making sure when they revamp something they either remove drops for quests they break.. yada yada.. oh well.

Yeah the prospector still spawns but only when all the Raids are done...this is due to the fact that the grimling camp near TM zone becomes occupied by the Kitties.

Sure about that? Seems kind of silly that you would have to do the raids to get him to spawn to get the quest then have to do the raids again to get him to spawn to do the turnin. Seems worse than silly that you would have to cheat the quest by collecting shards before you get the quest.

Yes it is 750pp for the quest. Not bad, the drops are random so you can go for ever without getting any or sever in succession, and the 10-15% AA is raher nice as well!

I don't know if I was just unlucky or not, but when I brought the staff to store the shards in, they dropped often, I finished the quest, got the 750pp and about 10 percent aa. I went back in without getting a new staff to store them. An hour goes by no shards dropped. A few ppl come into the zone, and they start dropping like mad. I shouted a question to see if anyone just brought a staff in. 2 ppl had just brought staves in. My Question I guess is, am I unluckily or do you need the Staff to put the shards in for the shards to be put on the loot list?

Well, I can say that you don't need the staff to get shard drops. They are completely random

750pp seems reasonable to me, considering that by the time you are able to collect 8 shards, you'll likely have looted and sold over 3k worth of loot. I've only found 2 shards so far and have made 1k in the process. It's the XP I'm after, though. The XP grind at this level is brutal!

It's a decent amount, considering the level you need to be to do this quest. It looks, to me, that SOE finally has gotten the idea of decent reward for risk.
I noticed it first with luggald flesh and fecund flesh from LoY. The experience given is actually noticable...which, at the 50+ level, was previously unheard of.

Let us hope that they'll go back and 'tune' the exp rewards of some of the older quests geared for the 50+ crowd. Getting 2-5% AA exp on an old velious armor quest turn in rather than the virtually nothing we get now would be good but it's mainly the faction & delivery quests that need to have some upgraded EXP rewards. Getting some decent exp will finally encourage players to actually do some of the non-gear quests and perhaps encourage them to do more of the gear quests as well, even if the gear reward is still subpar.
