Go to the harbor and speak with Ofala Olan, an erudite in a yellow robe in one of the houses near the lighthouse at 1456, 139.

You say, 'Hail, Ofala Olan'

Ofala Olan says 'Salutations! It is nice to see one such as you in these parts; I do get lonely for some intelligent conversation around here once in awhile. The majority of the time however, I am much too preoccupied [researching]. There are so many interesting things to discover in a new area!'

You say, 'What researching?'

Ofala Olan says 'Many things actually. The very land of this island has interesting peculiarities due to the foreign plant life and substances the pirates have introduced into the ecology. I have been working most specifically on deciphering what portions of the strange materials may hold magical properties that could be useful to our work as Enchanters. Why, just the other day I believe I was on the verge of a great breakthrough with some odd substances I had mixed together, unfortunately I was careless and did not seal the vial tightly enough. When I awoke the next morning the [specimen] had completely evaporated.'

You say, 'What specimen?'

Ofala Olan says 'Among some of the substances I was experimenting with, I began to notice some peculiar attributes. I noticed some of the dark priests taking cuttings from certain mushrooms, and began experimenting with that first. I discovered that they could be boiled into a salve that had the most wondrous properties for the eyes! (sighs) It will take me ages to get the [necessary components] back to pick up where I left off on that particular spell, not to mention the research that I am compiling for my [brother] to assist with his specialties. I have enough material here to keep me swamped for ages, those spells will just have to wait!'

You say, 'What necessary components?'

Ofala Olan says 'Well, I believe that with two specific substances I can concoct a potion that will give certain effects for a specific amount of time. If I have these components I believe I have the understanding to capture the essence of them within a spell, so that the effects may be recalled at will. For this I would need the stalk of one of the local mushrooms, they secrete a fluid that is useful. I also need a mermaid scale from a mermaid here in the Gulf. Are you still willing to [assist] with this?'

You say, 'I will assist you'

Ofala Olan says 'Take this vial with you then to contain the items that I have requested. Once you have them trapped inside, blend them together by sealing the bottle and shaking gently. Then bring it to me and I will see what I can do about finishing the task. Should the mixture prove true and I unlock the secret of the potion, I will share it with you for your efforts. Be very careful however, as always in dealing with items that we are not yet fully familiar with, the materials may prove dangerous!'

Receive a four-slot bottle named "A Dusty Glass Vial."

Near the big iron gate in the water near the harbor is a shipwreck. Inside and underwater, you will find a mermaid named Latiza Trelune. Her location is approximately +264, +5.

In the caves, you will find mushrooms and lotus flowers. Kill them until you find a blue lotus petal.

Then kill mushrooms, drogmors, and lotuses in the caves until you get a Pungent Fluid.

You say, 'Hail, Latiza Trelune'

Latiza Trelune eyes you coolly, taking particular interest in the shining pieces of your array. 'Yes, Sorcerius? Is there something in particular that you were looking for? (chuckles) Do not be taken aback that I know your name. People of my kind have always been a bit more observant than yours.'

Give a Blue Lotus Petal to Latiza Trelune.

Latiza Trelune looks delighted and tucks the petal into a lock of her hair. 'How lovely! Here then, a scale you shall have. Do not be surprised if nothing comes of it, but I do thank you for the gift. Best of luck to you, dear mortal.'

Put the fluid and scale in the glass vial and hit combine to produce a Swirling Vial.

Return to Ofala Olan and give her the Swirling Vial.

Ofala Olan takes the vial gently from your hands and begins murmuring quietly. Thick incense smoke moves lazily through the air as she works, curling about and hanging onto your clothing. The strange liquid inside the vial begins to glow a deep red and seemingly moves of its own volition. Ofala quickly smears a bit of the substance about her eyes and looks up at you. 'We have solved it! I believe I can recall this again, let me get this down for you now before the spell wears. Use it well.' Withdrawing a fine quill from a pouch at her waist, she dips the tip into the swirling potion and scrawls out the words of a spell onto parchment.

You gain experience!!

Hi, I took my lvl 44 Enchanter to Gunthak to do the quest. Ofa won't acknowledge my replies. I've tried "researching", "researching?", "I will assist". Nothing works. Any ideas?
The script has changed.
# Apr 14 2007 at 9:07 PM Rating: Decent
The dialogs have apparently changed to include a branch for another spell, Scryer's Trespass, which you appear to have correctly listed elsewhere. Also, the missing script is included herein. The new dialog is:

Targeted (NPC): Ofala Olan

Right click on the NPC to consider her.

<sighs> It will take me ages to get the [necessary components] back to pick up where I left off on that particular spell, not to mention the research that I am compiling for my [brother] to assist with his specialties.

-------------------------------------------

NOTE: If you are interested in Scryer's Trespass, add the following dialog:

You say, 'who is your brother?'

Ofala Olan says 'My brother is also an accomplished enchanter by the name of Stofo Olan. He has been hard at work in Erudin researching for his teacher Jeb Lumsed. He has a keen sense for the properties of stone and other such solid objects. For some time now he has been attempting to harness the power of stone for use in some form of mind control, that could be activated through a piece of jewelry. Entirely by accident, it seems that such a substance has been in use on this island for some time. It is very dangerous however, and as such most of my work has been based in theories tossed back and forth between he and I. Are you [interested] in this [strange rock] as well?'

You say, 'I am interested in this strange rock'

Ofala Olan says 'What a small world! I have skill with gem setting as many of our kind do, although I am afraid my specialties lie more with other types of elements and power. There have been stories of miners down in the Torgiran Mines losing their wits or becoming near zombie like in their actions. I have a hunch that whatever is doing this is being harvested there. Take good care down there, I fear that the miners themselves may not be too friendly. Travel into the mines and bring me two chunks of whatever the ore is that they are gathering, be sure it is of the type that glows brightly. Most likely the miners will have a few samples, but their masters probably have a few as well. Bring these to me with an enchanted bar of gold and I can fashion a test ring from it. Be careful!'

-------------------------------------------

NOTE: The rest of the Leviathan Eyes dialog:

Targeted (NPC): Latiza Trelune

Right click on the NPC to consider it.

You say, 'Hail, Latiza Trelune'

Latiza Trelune eyes you coolly, taking particular interest in the shining pieces of your array. 'Yes, Sorcerius? Is there something in particular that you were looking for? <chuckles> Do not be taken aback that I know your name. People of my kind have always been a bit more observant than yours.'

You give a blue lotus petal to Latiza Trelune.

Latiza Trelune looks delighted and tucks the petal into a lock of her hair. 'How lovely! Here then, a scale you shall have. Do not be surprised if nothing comes of it, but I do thank you for the gift. Best of luck to you, dear mortal.'

You do the combine.

You have fashioned the items together to create something new: Swirling Vial.

Targeted (NPC): Ofala Olan

Right click on the NPC to consider her.

You give a Swirling Vial to Ofala Olan.

You gain experience!!

You receive the spell scroll.

The entire quest took 30 minutes with a 50 Wizard and 51 Enchanter. We had to clear most of the cave to nearly the end by Dulak before we got both drops. Then we invised to return to town where I received and completed the quest, after obtaining the necessary drops.

I read the post on this quest and was thinking okay this sounds pretty easy, me being a lvl 64 druid and having my lvl 30 enc there at the time, now lvl 31 because of killing all these mobs. The hard part about this quest is not getting the fluid, (seen four of these drop), in the amount of three hours in which it took me to get the "Blue Lotus Petal", when it's stated as a RARE item, best believe that is one of these RARE items. Yes, the locations of the flowers are correct stay by Nadox zone and just kill away at the flowers. Hope you have nothing better to do, because you will be there for awhile!! Hey, I guess it's worth getting the spell at a lower lvl ;O).

Well my enchanter had just turned 44 and I was apphrehensive about the possible trains in the Gunthak tunnel but I headed in invised thinking from other posts that I would have to go very far in to gst he Blue Lotus Petal and Pungent Fluid. The first thing I come across though, near the tunnel entrance from the beach, is another player being attacked by four mobs and down to about 35% health so I decide to help with my summoned pet - attacked a dark blue Deep Pebble Lotus - the Blue Lotus Petal drops - a lite blue diseased Drogmor attacks me next, killed it and the punget fluid dropped - all this took barely a minute. By now the other player had survived and was beating the final runnning mob to death. I feel really lucky by now but i sure did'nt press my luck -- I was happy thankful to go get the spell. I assume the spell components may drop anywhere in the tunnels, unless I was just really, really lucky.

After reading these posts, took my 44th Chanter with some pet toys to Gunthak. Started to solo my way to Nadox entrance, got the fluid from a mushroom about halfway there and got the flower/petal drop just outside the Cave to Nadox zone line. Mobs 50/50 lt/drk blue. Drk blue diseased drogmors needed tash to ensure slow would stick. Guess I got lucky this time.
Good Luck !

Just looted the pungent fluid off a diseased drogmor.
The Mermaid, correction to text
# Nov 09 2004 at 12:51 PM Rating: Decent
When you find the Mermaid, the whole sequence is as follows (please insert into the above quest)

You say, 'Hail, Latiza Trelune'

Latiza Trelune eyes you coolly, taking particular interest in the shining pieces of your array. 'Yes, #yourname#? Is there something in particular that you were looking for? <chuckles> Do not be taken aback that I know your name. People of my kind have always been a bit more observant than yours.'

You say, 'I need a mermaid scale'

Latiza Trelune says 'A scale? Do not tell me that you are superstitious. A scale from a mermaid is the same as a scale from any fish, and it is foolish to think otherwise. If I am to part with one of my beautiful scales I would like a [gift].'

You say, 'what gift'

Latiza Trelune says 'I have always been fond of the lotus flowers that grow deep in the caves here. Unfortunately they are not easily accessible to my kind. Their petals are ever so interesting. Bring me a lotus petal and you may have one of my scales, although I do think it is foolish to glorify a mere scale. Go now then, lest I get bored.'

If you have not already looted the Lotus Petal then go and hunt for it. If you give her the NO DROP petal she then gives you a mermaid scale.

Latiza Trelune looks delighted and tucks the petal into a lock of her hair. 'How lovely! Here then, a scale you shall have. Do not be surprised if nothing comes of it, but I do thank you for the gift. Best of luck to you, dear mortal.'

You now combine the 2 items, Mermaid Scale and Pungent fluid in the container A Dusty Glass Vial. Hand the final combine to Ofala Olan

You recieve the spell "Leviathon Eyes"

The drops all occur in the tunnel that leads from the beach to Dulak's Harbour, around the Fort area. Please note that I also saw Deepwater Emblems drop here for the Spell: Temperence.

I was cruising the boards looking for good level 50 players guides for my enchanter when I happened on this quest. It had slipped my mind. So I read all about it and headed off to Gunthak (The long way because I forgot I could get a port most of the way there). Long story short I did as everyone said and invised and ran to Nadox. Then started hunting. I have hunted for 2 days straight and aside from few cool magic mushrooms (which remind me of my younger days) and a decent collar off of the named guard I have found neither the leaf nor the pungent fluid and I have killed LOT’s o stuff. I will keep doing it but was hoping you 1-hour guys would have some hints. Lastly what’s with the Dark Elf? He is red to a 53 chanter and cons indifferent? Who is he?

Thanks,

Oceana

get a WAR friend with the Auto-Reposit Disc(lvl 56)... and a CLR with her AoE unlimited target DDs.... have WAR pull the ENTIRE caves... and get all the mobs bunched up on the pull.... have him disc his reposit disc WITH A VERY HIGH DAMAGE 2H WEAPON (I used a 61dmg), since delay does not matter when auto repositing, a weapon with 60+ dmg will do... after disc is done start AoE stunning and have CLR AoE Nuke... boom.... everything dead in under 25 seconds. Loot up.

I was able to loot it today off a Pungent Mushroom after about an hour of killing all the mobs in the cave.
Where to kill.
# Apr 10 2004 at 1:50 PM Rating: Decent
The key to this is to fight near the Nadox entrance. I fought all the way to that zone and nothing dropped. Once I went to the side cave near the zone, they both dropped in the second spawn of the cave.

Invis to Nadox zone, charm a guard and you should get it quickly.

Also, I got the fluid off of an Escaped Drogmor so kill everything.

Xepe.

I soloed this today with my 53 'chanter. Started at back door to Nadox, brought up pet, hasted and AC buffed. The blue lotus petal dropped for me from a deep pebble lotus after only a few kills; the pungent fluid, however, was another story.

I killed the entire tunnel twice without seeing a single fluid drop; went to the front entrance to nadox where groups of drogs hang out together and got the fluid off the third kill.

I completed this quest this afternoon after waiting many seasons, eager to get my little hands on such a great spell.

I camped at the opening of the tunnel just off the beach and I was able to solo the mobs using my lvl 49 pet that was buffed with only Shadow and SLTW. I used slow to pull the mobs, and they were rather easy to drop. The drogs and the lotus flowers all conned light blue to me. I was rather fortunate, as the first Deep Rock Lotus dropped the blue lotus petal and it only took about half a dozen drogmoors to get the pungent fluid. As for Letiza Trelune, she is located underwater in a shipwreck directly north from the beach. She conned indifferent to me and althouh I was unable to cast Benevolence on her, she didn't eat my lotus petal, so amiable faction is not necessary for the turn in. The entire time I spent obtaining the components was about 1 hour, with the exception of a couple of nasty trains that went through and slowed things down for me. All in all, this was a very easy quest to complete and I am extremely pleased with my new acquisition. Best of luck to you in your journeys, my fellow Enchanters!
Advice on this quest
# Jan 17 2004 at 1:55 AM Rating: Decent
I just did this quest from start to finish in less than an hour solo with my level 47 enchanter. Charm is your friend, here.

I reccomend that you invis up and run to the Nadox zone, there's a nice open area there just right for charm-killing, and there's a pair of Broken Skull guards that make fine pets. Charm one, kill the other, and start pulling the mobs from the tunnels. If charm breaks at a bad time and you can't recover, you can just zone into Nadox.

I got the fluid quickly off a Pungent Mushroom, and the petal sometime after off of one of the deep [something] lotuses.

The mobs in the nearby tunnels are random, I believe, so just keep killing and eventually you'll shots at both mushrooms and flowers.
Locations for Mobs
# Jan 16 2004 at 5:52 AM Rating: Decent
Just finished this quest, and after all of the other helpful hints I found here, I felt I should add one that I didn't find earlier: general location in the cave to hunt for mobs.

It took me about 6 hours of hunting in 3 sessions to finally get the items to pop for me. Tonight's session took me 1 h 45 m to clear all the mobs from the mouth of the cave in to the spawn points mentioned below. I tend to pull slow anyway, though. :-)

The intersection where you turn left to go into the fort is a good starting point. I found the Pungent Fluid on the first diseased drogmor after that intersection as I was heading toward Dulak. The fluid is Lore NoDrop and looks like a tube of Bone Temper. The drogmor was near -1996, +639.

The Blue Lotus Petal actually looks like one of the green herbs you can buy in PoK. I got mine from a deep rock lotus on the left further in from the drogmor. Coordinates are -1829, 842.

It was easy to pull singles in the cave, because the mobs are set just out of spell range of each other. My problem was that as I got closer to where I felt the items should pop, I was killing mobs too fast and not regening enough.

A luggald concealer wandered in and nearly made the trip a bust. *chuckle* Smiley: yikes It was a necro mob that con'd blue at level 50. It usually spawns right after you kill the wandering Broken Skull troll guard.

Again, thanks for all the hints, especially the walkthrough by APhenox. Smiley: grin

The handiest part about Leviathan Eyes is that is stacks with Enduring Breath, so you can one while the other is fading. Smiley: king Smiley: yippee

Change in drop rate?
# Jan 04 2004 at 1:36 PM Rating: Decent
Did this in about 15 minutes for a friends enchanter. Both dropped between the tunnel entrance and the first "intersection" where the small outpost is. Also, she said that Latiza Trelune cannot be affected by Benevolence. On indifferent faction, the hand in worked. Perhaps the faction is built in to the class.

after the 2nd kill the fluid dropped. that was simple. then i started soloing since i was letting my friends (lower lvl) kill the things and get xp so then another friend came and i just got the loot off before i had to run on drogmor so i didnt get wiped by a massive train.

I came in with 2 enchanters. 60 and 65. had no trouble clearing the entire tunnel from teh beach to dulak and saw teh blue lotus petal drop a dozen times or more before I saw teh first fluid drop. We were killing everything that moved, dogs, shrooms, flowers, gaurds, you name it. once we got teh first fluid the second one dropped almost immediatly though.

That's basically what happened with me. "A Blue Lotus Petal" dropped at the end of 2 hours in the tunnel, after about 10 Pungent Fluid. The next flower we killed dropped another Petal. When it rains it pours, I guess. /sigh

tried halign her today as i allredy got all components, and respose was "i am busy, library next door" tryied key words, for any fo them she respond same thing. i am guesing its either: she thinks I am too low level to do the quest (34) or that i am not an encthaer.

If you aren't an Enchanter, then why are you doing the quest? I believe that most spell scrolls from quests are NO DROP, including this one, so you wouldn't be able to use the scroll when you got it.

EDIT: yep, just checked the spell scroll, NO DROP. /ponder

Despite being a high elf I like having ultravision on quite often *shrug*. This spell allowed me to move see invisible and EB to the back of the spellbook and is quite usefull since at least one person on a raid will want ultravision. Got the blue lotus petal and the fluid within 10 minutes of getting to the tunnels yay!

Howdy, (it's the husband again)

Ok.

Ofala Olan is located in the second house if you travel clockwise from the "dock", the first has the researcher for the int caster research books.

/loc is +1456, +139

Latiza Trelane is kinda not well explained in the write up. She is NOT right next to the "iron gate" but instead is in the mouth of the part of the harbor that leads to the gate.

/loc is +264, +5

They were both indifferent to me in both Erudite and Dark Elf form. I did Collaboration on Latiza and became amiable. I then con'ed Ofala and she was also amiable, so I -presume- they are on the same faction and any faction boosting spell (since the quest reward is ENC only you should have one) will get you there.

The Blue Lotus Petal drops pretty common of any Lotus. They were light blue (rock/stone) and green (pebble/rock) to me at 51.

The Pungent Fluid drops off any mushroom (we all knew that right) AND off the diseased drogmar's. (I got mine off a drogmar, so I am -sure- they drop it too.)

Most mushrooms were green, a very few light blue. All the drogmar's I saw were green.

You can pretty easily walk around the mushrooms and lotus... but the agro range on the drogmar's is pretty big. You will have to fight them. (at least if you go there with a pet and can't invis... but hey, they drop the fluid so why not kill them.)

Common drop off the drog and shrooms is "fungus sap", uncommon is nothing (2 shrooms) and I left after I got my first fluid. (got a second petal, they aren't lore, but the scale and vial are)

Got no exp messages from either turn in, but the few light blues I had to kill got me half a blue in 51.

Be safe and good hunting.
