You need the ingot and icon of Reliant and 1 bar of enchanted platinum. Go to Kithicor Woods, in one of the burnt houses you will find a book (looks like a bag on the floor). The book will reveal that Turgan the Reliant lived here once, and his brother perished in the fire that burnt the house. It also states that one of the items is hidden in Kithicor. This is the Ingot of the Reliant. Look for it on one of the tree stumps in Kithicor Woods (it is among a group of stumps). It is at loc -70, 3275. You need to jump off a fallen tree to get onto the stump, or use levitate. The book also states that Turgan has moved to Lake Rathetear. There, he is situated off to the left of Gnoll Camp at 3626, 112.. Hailing him is useless, as well as asking him about the Icon of the Reliant (he will shout at you and tell you to go away). Give him the book and he will give you the Icon.

Just verified there are no faction hits or experience, and that this can be done at dubious.

Seems to be random spawn...
# Aug 15 2001 at 7:52 AM Rating: Default
... meaning the book doesn't spawn every night (morning). I spent a couple hours camping the cabin, checking it every so often, especially the times listed here previously and got nothing. Even when I spent two game time nights Feigned inside the cabin, nothing. So I gave up and just check whenever I un through the woods to HHP. The first time I ran through I checked and got nothing. The second time, about a week later, there it was just sitting there in the corner! I entered Kith at 12noon and checked for the heck of it and there it was. The Ingot was there on the stump when I checked the very first time.

Warning about Ruined Cabins
# Jul 30 2001 at 6:34 PM Rating: Good
No one mentioned that running around in Kithicor looking for ruined cabins can be extremely dangerous, even in the daytime! I read the quest and first post... no problem, I'm on my way to Kithicor (figured I'd check it out with my higher level druid and ported into commons). I checked the /time running between ring and zone to Kithicor, was 9am gametime, cool! Of course, everyone knows by now about Kith at night. So, in Kith, I know that burnt house along the northern wall running back and forth to Rivervale, I checked there, nothin. Pull out my map (printed from Eqatlas.com - awesome map site) lists a few other ruined cabins but doesn't mention anything about a book place, so knowing nothing else, i start checking them. The first one (heading southestish from there) has extremely mean mobs, even in the day, gametime couldn't have been more than 1pm by this now, and I run smooth up on that first hut and get hit with what I believe was an HT for 810, took 4 bubs health, I start running, a spell does like 500 and dead.

Anyway, now I've read a few more posts and know which cabin (loc 1700,1100)... hehe the first one I checked...

Later,

I waited in Kith all night to pick up the book, and checked the cabin constantly from 6am-10am, but the book never appeared. So, does this mean that the book has a 7-8 hour real time spawn, and only pops at 7-9am in game? that would make it roughly once every in game week right?

Return all three items to Blaze the Radiant in the Temple of Solusek Ro and he will reward you with the Boots of the Reliant.

Minor point. Blaize the Radiant is a female npc. Gavel the Temperate is the male cleric npc there.

In all fairness, to the level 6 guy, it should be pointed out that 130 pp at level six is REALLLY EASY to get. Hunt black bears (and cats/wolves)in east commons, and sell all non-ruined pelts. My pricing schedule at this level was:

HQ bear - 30-50pp (ask 50, go down to 30) usually got 40+
HQ cat - 3pp (usually sold fast, better in Freeport than EC)
HQ wolf, MQ and LQ all others 2pp. (sell for 1pp if loaded down)
Grizzly skins 3-5pp (note at these levels, can't kill young kodiaks, but often find these on decaying corpses)

Using this strategy, I generated 100pp+ per level from level 5-8. Got lucky with 7 and got 5 hq pelts, so made about 250pp total at that level. Before you flame someone, make sure you're right.

BTW, he did get really lucky to loot the needed items from kith, even during the day. I got whacked in midday in kith by a teir dal reaver, who was WAY red at lvl 16.

I just got both items in 10 mins (Drinal!). I went in early 7am game time, just 1 hour game time before the big guns in there de-spawn and went straight around the right side of the map to the cabin. 8am on the dot (game time), the book spawned and I got it!

Went to the tree stumps and the Ingot was there too.

TIP: Get in early before the newbies wander around picking things up they shouldn't!

I was wondering if you need a certain faction level with Blaize and/or the Temple of Solusek Ro in order to get the boots? (i.e. how you need to /con to her)

I would rather not walk up to her and give her the Ingot, Icon and enchanted platinum bar then have her say something like "Gee thanks."

Any insights would be appreciated.

Well, I've completed all of the pieces so far except the BP (I still need the piece from Dagnor's - that ***** is never around when I'm there) and the vambraces.

I'm selling a pair of the boots and gaunts also, if anyone on Brell would rather buy them than quest for them. Since I did the quest I'm selling them cheaper than they'd normally go for.

This series of quests was quite a bit easier than I'd anticipated. By far the most annoying/difficult thing about them is all the running around involved. If you're planning on doing them all I'd suggest starting at one side of Antonica and working your way east, grabbing all the pieces for all of the quests along the way. It'll save a lot of time.

I'll be happy to help anyone having trouble with these quests. Post it here or send me some email @ lostatsea@xmail.com. Oh, and if you have any tips on catching Dwigus in Dagnor - please, share! :)

There is no "spawn time"
# May 25 2001 at 7:14 AM Rating: Decent
The book & bag spawn every 8 hours. I have done this quest several times now, as a mid-thirties shaman, and it is one the easiest pieces in the quest-set to complete. If the book or bag isn't there, it's not because it hasn't spawned yet -- it's because someone has picked it up, whether or not they were aware of its purpose. Remeber Kith is a newbie zone during the day, so there's dozens of little asslings poking around, picking up stuff. Just be patient. The first time I did the quest I parked my *** on the hill and waited the 6 hours until it popped. Now, I just check to see if it's there every time I make a run through Kith.
RE: There is no
# Jul 19 2001 at 2:45 AM Rating: Decent
You denigrate the newbies for picking up the book not knowing what it is, yet you are proud that you also have picked up the book several times knowing exactly what it is thus depriving several clerics of their chance to do the quest. If there's the justice that The Tribunal so prides itself upon, then several clerics will kill the glacier bear for their quest item and will also loot and destroy the quest item you need for your totemic. Of course you won't care. You'll just buy your totemic piece with your boots profits. Assling indeed.

He didn't say that he picked it up, he merely said that he checked to see if it was there. I rather big difference I think. I doubt he is picking it up for no reason at all.

Well Good News...I finally got the book, the method of checking back in is the best way I found. Loc I got from all the posts here paid off, it is pos 1700 pos 1100. Just a bag laying in the left corner as you come in (needless to say I almost fell out of my chair when I saw it), that was the biggest pain about this quest was the spawn time of the book. Just be patient, it is there. Well Good Luck, I am off to do another one of the quests.

I just got the stuff I needed for this quest today. After reading some of the posts I was trying to haul my butt as fast as I could (without sow) from lavastorm to kith before 10 AM. I didn't make it. It was 10 AM by the time I entered the zone. I ran to the stumps first... ignot was there. I ran to cabin... book was there. Ran through Highpass (with about 8 orcs hacking at my back) and through the karanas to Lake Rathe...Turgan was in the cabin at the LOC given many times. So far this has been easy for me. Just have to get the plat and have it enchanted now and I'm off to Solusek Ro!

The undead
# May 09 2001 at 7:29 AM Rating: Default
The book spawns in the burnt down house on the right wall entering from WC. BUT!! it only spawns at night.....and what else spawns at night kids? UNDEAD!!! woooo....and to the guy who said hes never seen them, wait till night time and run straight into kith without following corners. These things con blue to bright cherry red at lvl35. And the blues are VERY rare and the undead aalso has pets to top off that sunday with a cherry. Not fun at all. Ive ran across the book soooo many times. i destroy it everyonce in awhile or just pass it up(i go through kith alot) and it always spawns at nighttime in kith....not sure if it despawns thoug.

Turgan will talk to you, if you say the right things, and have high enough faction with him. When I hailed him, he said Hello Scalldon, how are you today.
I tried several other phrases seeing if he would talk some more, but couldn't get anything out of him. However, when I gave him the book ( I finally got the stupid thing) he told me he was no longer worthy of the title and that perhaps I would be a better to hold the icon.
I believe if you try calling him by a title, perhaps, Turgan the Reliant or something, he may speak more.

When i asked him "Where is the icon of the reliant?" He talked some more. Told me leave him alone and go back to Kithicor or something. I just gave him the book, got the icon, and left.

I play on Veeshan and have tried aquiring the ingot and the book several times. I have never pulled it off. I have never seen either one, nor have I seen any high lvl undead, although have heard a lot of people complain about them. I have never seen one of the wolves there either, guess I'm just lucky.
The biggest meanest thing I have been attacked by in that zone was, believe it or not, a tainted fairy. The thing conned red to me at 28, and aggroed on me. It was a caster, and threw one spell that took half my hp. Luckily I had SoW and was able to make it back to the zone. I wasn't far from the WC zone anyways.
It was a strange event.

Of course, for those of us who like roleplaying, and enjoy the quests, perhaps we'd like to be able to say we had a set of quest items that we didn't buy. Looking over the quests, it looks like the boots will be easiest, so I'm going to try them soon.

P.S. if anyone have found the other quest items to be attainable by a lvl 20 cleric, please let me know. Can respond to this post, or e-mail. my address is listed if you click on my name on this post.

Well as i was walkin through kith with my rogue i found the book first time to see the cabin and it was there so i picked it up not knowing what is was

i have the ingot and was wondering if i can turn the stuff in with my rogue and still get the boots to sell or give to my friend

Yes... as much as it pains me to see the boots being given to a rogue who cannot do more than profit from them (that's what rogues do heh heh) You can complete the quest and sell the boots. They are Lore... but not No Drop.
Spawn times on the book and ingot...
# Mar 03 2001 at 4:58 PM Rating: Default
I was able to pick up the ingot at 11AM game time no sweat. The book on the other hand was a pain in the ***** It spawns at 7AM game time (which *I think* is when the undead all pop and the forest becomes safe again) and despawns at the most 9AM as I checked at 10 and it was not there after I got the ingot.
Recommendation: Enter Kith durring the day. Bind yourself at the wall near the cabin. Chill out in Rivervale till morning. As soon as the /time reveals 7AM gate. Go IvsU and go down to the cabin. It should be there. Then go grab your ingot.

Ran into Kithicor from Rivervale at 9am and on my way to WCommons decided to see if the book was in the ruins. It was so I grabbed it and continued on my way.

When I got to the WCommons zone I thought to myself, "Why not try for the ingo?" so I turned around and ran most of the way back through the zone and jumped onto the stump. It was there. I didn't check the time, but it was probably about 10am by then.

So, both items are in their respective locations at 9 to 10am.

*SIGH* No go... I tried this all giddy with excitement... been camping this damn book for 2 days now. I been camping inside the house, actually logging to a new character at 8pm and back on at 8am...

Tried the 7am deal - no go. It does not spawn at 7am.. seems only a random spawn time.

I will post my time - If I ever get the damn thing.

I've done this quest recently (must still go to the Temple to get the actual reward, but at least I have all items for it), so I'll write down my experiences witth this quest.

When I first went into Kithicor, I immediatly found the item on the treestump, and assumed that the book was as easy. It was not. I came back there about 6 times, searching all over the place, not finding it. I even went there during the night once, incorrectly assuming it would be a nightly spawn. The hut was not guarded the slightest, but the book wasn't there either. On my way back I got killed by 2 Zombie troopers (spell casters, Necro if I'm right ... they had a skeleton pet with them). On the 6th time I was lucky, and found the book, it is simply not always there. Strangely, I checked the other item once again during my search, and it was there.

Anyway, I found the book during the day (I was not so stupid to go inside again during the night). The burned down cabin is indeed at 1700, 1100 about, near the mountains to the north. The book is INSIDE the cabin, in the rear-left corner when you enter through the door, on top of the grassy rubble in that corner. It looks like a bag, like all other items that are dropped on the floor.

For what I have heard, the spawn time is about once every 8 hours. However, unlike the Ingot, I think the book despawns fairly soon again. Camping it is just as good as dropping by there whenever you get the chance. That's what I did anyway.
