You say, 'Hail, Megosh Thistlethorn'

Megosh Thistlethorn says 'Greetings ______! I am Megosh Thistlethorn first Ranger of the Storm Reapers of Rivervale. I journeyed many years ago to the Surefall Glade far to the west of our lovely shire. It was there I trained with the human and half-elven rangers that like the Storm Reapers are faithful disciples of Karana. I have returned now to Rivervale to teach our interested young people the ways of a ranger of the Storm Lord, so that we may defend our shire and the wilds of Norrath from the [evil forces] that would see it destroyed.'

You say, 'What evil forces?'

Megosh Thistlethorn says 'Currently the Death Fist Clan of Orcs, a race of bloodthirsty humanoids concerned only with expanding their territory and slaughtering all who stand in their path, threatens our homeland. The Orcs have long had a minor presence in the Misty Thicket but lately they have been amassing in greater numbers. The Death Fist has been chopping down our trees and quarrying rock from the nearby mountains. We know only that they have been shipping the materials to the commonlands and stockpiling it for what purpose we do not know. As rangers of the Storm Reapers it is our duty to [stop the desecration] of the thicket.'

You say, 'I will stop the desecration.'

Megosh Thistlethorn says 'First you must outfit yourself for battle with the Death Fists. Seek Bipdo Hargin here in Rivervale and give him this letter. He will instruct you further on getting yourself outfitted for the tasks ahead. Once you have been outfitted in a suit of Thorn Mail Armor return to me and I will instruct you for your [next task].'

Your Location is -222.35, -71.61, -21.81.

Hand Bipdo the note Megosh gave you.

Bipdo Hargin says 'Pleased to meet you ______! You must be one of Megosh's new trainees. Megosh has asked me to help get you outfitted in a suit of armor to protect you from the vile weapons of Rivervale's foes. I have assembled a kit for you that will allow you to construct the armor pieces once you have gathered the necessary components. The required components vary according to which piece of Thorn Mail armor you are planning on assembling. Do you wish to craft a [thorn mail coif], a [thorn mail bracer], [thorn mail gloves], [thorn mail boots], [thorn mail sleeves], [thorn mail leggings], or a [thorn mail tunic].'

You say, 'I wish to craft thorn mail gloves.'

Bipdo Hargin says 'To assemble Thorn Mail Gloves you will require two [silk thread], ruined thorn drakeling scales, and two large fruit bat furs. Once you have the necessary components combine them in your Mail Assembly Kit with this Tattered Glove Pattern.'

Ruined Thorn Drakling Scales drop off of Thorn Draklings in the newbie side of Misty Thicket.. erratic spawning.. seen 3 at the same time but then houuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuurs with not one.
Fruit Bat fur comes off of Large Fruit Bats (you'll get a large fruit bat fur) on both the Newbie side & Runny Eye side if Misty Thicket & Giant Fruit Bats (you'll get a giant fruit bat fur) on the Runny eye side of Misty Thicket.

To help the Fruit bats spawn I train EVERY non-fruit bat on the runny eye side to the guards in hopes Fruit's will pop next, seems to work fairly well (also train giant wasps with bats just incase they're connected)

Thorn Draklings are a pain in the patut!! Haven't figured out what spawns them yet =\ If anyone knows please share

Ahh, just as a side note, the drop rates on the components needed for most of these items is ASTOUNDINGLY low.
And to make it even better/worse,the spawn rates on the Thorn Drakelings is most heinous. The other mobs spawn more often, but refer back to the ASTOUNDINGLY low drop rates.

Hehe, otherwise pretty straightforward.

So far its just paid to be out there earning your xp and keep checking track for the mobs you need, otherwise you're going to pull your hair out and go nuts 8)

And yes, almost all the components needed off the mobs are NO DROP. So leave your main at home:)

Good luck on all these HLF racial/class armors !

(you're going to need it)
