You will find Zimloro in the "shorty" section of Shadowhaven approx loc is (-450, 1450). You can find this gnome vendor using the Find option as he is an Alchemy Supplies NPC.

    You say, 'Hail, Zimloro Jalobottle'

Zimloro Jalobottle says 'Oi there _____. If you are lookin for a potion or an antidote I got just what the doctor ordered, step right up! I also have many other special potions but sadly I do not have the correct [components] for them. '

    You say, 'components'

Zimloro Jalobottle says 'Well you see I can make some very magnificent potions, unfortunately I am in need of a few [ingredients] that I lost in a lab accident a few days back. '

    You say, 'ingredients'

Zimloro Jalobottle says 'You sure seem interested in my work there _____. So interested that I think you would be willing to go fetch the components I require for my studies for me! Am I correct? Will you [retrieve these components] for me? '

    You say, 'retrieve these components'

Zimloro Jalobottle says 'Fantastic _____! Elefan, my apprentice, is currently studying under my wing. He had been collecting samples in Shadeweaver lately and he probably has the items that I need. If you could go and speak with him and present him with this ingredient list, hopefully he will have what I need. Please bring the components back to me as soon as possible! '

He gives you the item Zimloro Ingredient List.

Head to Shadeweaver's Thicket and speak to Elefan who is at approx (0, -3000) next to a large grouping of rocks. See his NPC page for a map location.

    You say, 'Hail, Elefan'

Elefan says 'Hello _____. Its a pleasure to meet you as I do not see many visitors while I am working in the field gathering research. '

Give Elefan the Zimloro Ingredient List.

Elefan says 'Ah! Master Zimloro sent you, eh? This note indicates that he wants some specific ingredients. Luckily, I've got several [fresh samples] that I've only recently collected.'

    You gain experience!!

    You say, 'What fresh samples?'

Elefan says 'Oh, some antidote ingredients that I stumbled upon not long ago. They should meet his needs. Will you be so kind as to [take the antidote ingredients] to Zimloro?'

You say, 'Sure. I'll take the antidote ingredients to Zimloro.'

Elefan says 'Here you are _____. Please bring them to him at once so they do not spoil and thank you for your help. '

Elefan gives you the Antidote Ingredients, so head back to Zimloro in Shadowhaven.

Return to Zimloro in Shadow Haven.

Zimloro Jalobottle says 'You did it _____! Finally I can finish these potions that I have been working on for such a long time. I will surely tell all of my friends of your willingness to help me! '

So, I had reported the text loop on the tracker, and it looks like it was looked at and fixed. But the text was reworded some by a dev, so I went back and did the quest again to get the new text for you guys.

You will find Zimloro in the "shorty" section of Shadowhaven using the Find option as he is an Alchemy Supplies NPC.

    You say, 'Hail, Zimloro Jalobottle'

Zimloro Jalobottle says 'Oi there, _____! If you're lookin' for a potion or an antidote, step right up! I've got just what the doctor ordered. I also have many other special potions for the discerning potion connoisseur, but sadly I do not have the ingredients for them because I lost my last batch in a [tragic lab accident].'

You say, 'I'm afraid to ask, but what happened in this lab accident?'

Zimloro Jalobottle says 'The lab accident? Well, it's a long story that involves a distraction at the wrong time and a fire and suffice to say it all ended in tears... The important thing is, I have the ability to brew magnificent potions and I'm just shy a few [ingredients].'

You say, 'What ingredients do you need?'

Zimloro Jalobottle says 'You sure seem interested in my work, _____. So interested that I'd wager you'd be willing to fetch the ingredients I require for my potions! Am I correct? Will you [retrieve these ingredients] for me?'

You say, 'I'll retrieve the ingredients.'

For some reason, his dialogue now loops after this, and you cannot get the item Zimloro Ingredient List originally stated. But there is a way around this. Head to Shadeweaver's Thicket and speak directly to Elefan who is at approx (0, -3000) next to a large grouping of rocks.

I happened to be in Shadeweaver's Thicket, ran across this guy and Hailed him... followed the stuff in brackets and got the Ingredients without having gone to Shadow Haven first. You can't really lose on this quest.. you gain in TWO factions and don't lose any!

After reading over the description for this quest I think there is a different (or perhaps second?) location for Elefan in Shadeweaver's Thicket. I found him at -405, -2570 on my way out of the tunnels from PC near three large boulders. It was the first time I'd seen him so I hailed him for fun. He gave me the item without my first talking to Zimloro, so obviously it need not be done in order. Also, having PoP makes this quest quite easy. Going back and forth between the Shar Vahl and Nexus stones is much easier and much safer than going through PC.

    Hope that helps someone...

since one of the last patches, this quest is useless. just do the quest to get the amulet of the haven once and you can buy/sell there. I guess if you want to you can do that quest alot of times so you dont need the amulet, but i had to do it about 7 times before the patch just to buy/sell.
    Faction and Charisma
    # Jun 24 2002 at 1:51 PM Rating: Default
I just want to remind you that Charisma effects how fast your "con" changes when doing a faction quest or killing things. People with higher charisma can change faction faster. And If you dont believe me..talk to my Troll WArrior friend, he cant even improve faction with cities that do like him.

You are considered based on more than faction. Race, Deeds, and Religion. Perhaps your Troll friend follows a deity (evil) that regardless of how many times you see "Your standing with blah blah blah got better" will never improve your standings with certain factions. I tested this by slaughtering gnolls in bb for about 12 hrs of game time with my 33 iksar necromancer. Still "Scowls, ready to attack" with the guards of Qeynos. Ask any enchanter what spell (s)he would like to see and more often than not they'll say "illusion religion". Hope this clears it up. Good luck to you and be safe.

I have constantly seen Iksar and Ogres running around in Kaladim and Kelethin so I know that even Iksar followers of Cazic-Thule can enter areas where Cazic followers are generally KOS with the right faction work. From what I heard, it takes about 200 orcs in CB for an iksar to get to dubious faction with Kelethin. Testing that out with my shammy here in a bit.
    RE: Faction and Charisma
    # Sep 06 2002 at 3:42 PM Rating: Decent
While Race and Religion certainly do affect starting faction across the world, there are always things you can do to improve it. My Troll warrior spent about a week in Blackburrow killing gnolls and has gone all the way to kindly with the Qeynos guards, Jaggedpine, etc. It just takes a long, long time. After all, when you start with faction bottomed out, there are that many more layers of faction to work through till you get to where you want to be. In all the characters I've played, I have never been unable to raise faction, as long as I was willing to do the work.

This is what I've heard from a few people. Basically faction is on a 2000 point scale. neg 2000 is bottomed out (scowls) and pos 2000 is topped out (ally). The breakdown of the points is not an even number i.e. does not mean going from indifferent to amiable will take same amount of hits as going from any other lvl to the next. Also not all hits count the same. You can get more hits from certain creatures i.e. more points pos or neg. Some factions you will get more hits for because of your deity, race, class and yes even cha.

This is just what i've been told before and have no concrete proof, but thought this might be an interesting note for ya.

    # Apr 30 2004 at 4:09 PM Rating: Default
I agree with Kordela, above: NPCs can hate you for your religion, regardless of your faction with their affiliated groups. Try taking an Erudite ENC that worships Quellious to the Qeynos catacombs with Illusion: DE on. Then, since you died anyway, start a new enchanter, make them agnostic, and go back. Much greater average life span...

That's absolute ********* charisma only affects the price vendors buy/sell to you at, it does not adjust your faction in anyway at all!

    # Sep 03 2002 at 1:35 PM Rating: Default
Its not bull. Higher charisma does affect the size of your faction hits. Personal experience and a few experiments bear out the theory.
    RE: Faction and Charisma
    # Dec 21 2003 at 10:29 PM Rating: Decent
What experiments? LEt's have some hard facts, I never heard anything like this. The faction gain/loss numbers I've heard for killing various mobs were always constant, with no mention of charisma affecting them. Generally it's +1/-10 as I recall.

Just for the record, the level of your charisma does affect certain spells. not being an enchanter, i have seen posts, however that state the charisma does affect your mezz and charms. As a druid, i did notice a differance when i got a GM Corker (+50 cha) on my charming animals. I dont know what tbhe full effect is, but it seems to be there

Druids can do this quest fairly quickly. First bind yourself at Zimloro in Shadow Haven. Next run into Paludal and cast Lessor Succor, which takes you to the zone line of Shadeweavers Thicket. Then run to loc -410 -2570 and look for the group of rocks that Elefan is hiding in. A quick gate back to Zimloro and repeat.

Even easyer for a lvl 20 wizard/19 druid.
Just bind near Elefan, and cast Nexus gate, then run through SH portal to Zimloro and gate back.

Just an addition for druids... You can egress from Zimloro to the Paludal zone, which makes it a bit faster. I've also been egressing to the entrance of Shar Vahl, which I believe is a faster way to get to Elefan than running. Makes it a bit faster.

I have done a multitude of these including the barb to gnome (who gives u gems), the trade commish, the 1st part of the mining opeerations, the Fordel to DSP quest, for prolly 200+ faction hits and I have YET to move up ONCE in my faction to the stouts. I'm allied now with the trade commish, but the rest seem to be stuck. This is getting REALLY old. I wasted 4 hours yesterday doing this ****. >(

I did the "barb to gnome" quest you mentioned until I was Amiable to Traders of the Haven (including Trade Comissioner Henry) and then did the Amulet of the Haven quest once and was apprehensive to the Houses of Fordel and Midst (indifferent with the Amulet on). So these do seem to work, at least for me. But my House of Stout faction has yet to move - luckily the Amulet lets me buy/sell there anyway.

Not all faction adjustements are the same, too.... Just plucking numbers out of the air as an example.... A quest that gave 100 points for Faction A might only give 5 for Faction B.... It makes sense if you think of the NPC's saying "What has this guy done for ME?"..... Something you do that is a big help to one group might not be too helpful to another, though they may give you a little credit for helping an associate of theirs....

    Enough rambling, where's my caffeiene?

I have been doing the quest without note. I simply hailed Elfen and responded to his comments. He gave me the LORE NO DROP ingredients and I gave them to Zimloro. Then Zimloro gave me the xp and factions. I never knew about the note. I was bound in Shadowhaven before I reached 20 and would leave ingredients in bank. That way if I died I would go to bank and get invis potion and ingredients. Give ingredients to Zimloro and use invis for trip back to shadeweaver thicket.

    # Apr 02 2002 at 7:00 PM Rating: Default
There are a bunch of quests you can do to raise your faction - the sets I'm aware of involve the Glimmerblades, husband and wife. Her quests are easier to complete, require less zoning. Trade Commissioner Henry is another, just run between Shadowhaven, the Bazaar, and Fungus Grove (no need to go past the outpost in FG). These two sets of quests should get your faction up to Indifferent or Amiable pretty quickly so you'll be able to train without the use of Sneak.

This quest sounds like it gets traders faction, for better prices or even just being able to sell and buy from merchants.

Shorty faction is very handy though.

Don't forget as a monk you can always use sneak and click on a merchant/trainer from behind.

if i remember rightly, the ingredients are lore. VI seem to have realised people will really want to raise faction and have made it as boring as possible because of the long journeys with lore items. better than nothing though i suppose

Cool, good to know, but are the ingredients lore? If they aren't lore, we could get several, and in 1 trip pump my faction up. :)
