Arbogast and Miller spawn in the Inn near the bank on level 1 of Katta.

    You say, 'Hail, Arbogast'

Arbogast says 'Hello there ______, do you come seeking the truth?'

You say, 'I seek the truth.'

Arbogast says 'The truth is a precarious thing, twisted and torn by those that would deceive for their own nefarious purposes. That is why there are people like me to guide the ignorant masses that know no better than to believe that which they are told.'

Miller says 'Yeah, you tell em Arbogast! I bet this one doesn't even know what's going on right under his nose in this here city. Like for example, you probably don't even know the truth about about his importantness Phenic Dionicas do you?'

You say, 'Who is Phenic Dionicas?'

Arbogast says 'He that battles what he truly is only truly battles himself. Phenic Dionicas for years has made quite a show of his war on the Vampyres of Tenebrous. This misdirection of truth serves only to keep people from discovering that he himself is a foul demon of the night. Miller and I, for our singular vision of that which is true, are not well liked in this city and so cannot obtain proof for your disbelieving eyes.'

    You say, 'What proof?'

Arbogast says 'You wish to see the truth for yourself? That is good, you will be taking your first step down a winding road to the only fulfillment this existence has to offer: enlightenment. Take this flask of water, I have blessed it such that it will singe the skin of the unholy. Go to Phenic Dionicas and give it to him, then you will see... you will see.'

Miller says 'Yeah, splash it right in his unliving face!'

You get "Arbogast's Holy Water." Go to Phenic in the main government building, 2nd floor, left going up the steps, and give him the water.

Phenic Dionicas looks at you and smiles despite the fact that you have splashed water all over him - he does not appear to be burning at all. 'Oh, excuse me. You seem to have spilled your water, here have some of mine my friend. Good day to you, ______,' he says.

You get "Phenic's Water." Return to Arbogast and give it to him.

Arbogast says 'He simply gave this to you? Cunning indeed for him to cover his weakness so thoroughly - he must have powerful protective enchantments in place, no doubt put in place by his good friend and associate, Tsaph Katta!'

Your faction standing with The Truth got better.
    You gain experience!!

You get a "Silver Wrapping Paper" container.

You say, 'Who is Tsaph Katta?'

Arbogast says 'When you fake your death to discredit another you only discredit yourself when another sees your death was faked. Yes, you heard me correctly, Tsaph Katta lives on here in this city, can you guess who it is he pretends to be?'

Miller says 'Ooh! I know, I know! Nathyn Illuminious!!!'

Arbogast says 'Yes, yes, I know you know... very good Miller.'

Miller beams a smile your way.

Go get "Memoirs of Nathyn Illuminious" from behind the locked door in his castle on the table. Combine it in the Silver Wrapping Paper and return the resulting "A Silver Wrapped Book" to Arbogast.

Arbogast says, 'Ahh, you have retrieved the memoirs, let me see.' Arbogast opens the book and starts flipping through pages, 'Yes here, you... no, wait it must be back... hrmmm, maybe he... but it must... Well, that was pretty clever of old Tsaph Katta, removing any record of who he truly is- probably did it to cover up the fact that Norrath does not really exist.'

Your faction standing with The Truth got better.
    You gain experience!!

    You say, 'Norrath does exist.'

Arbogast says 'You are beginning to see the truest truths as the only true truths now, are you not? That large blue orb that hangs in the Luclin sky from time to time is nothing more than an overgrown comet. What appear to be land masses and other geological features are in actuality powerful illusions cast upon the comet by Tsaph Katta himself so that panic does not spread amongst the ignorant masses. I am not one to spread conjecture, but it is possible that Katta's astronomers have discovered that the comet is hurtling slowly toward Luclin and will destroy all life on the planet, so you can see why he would want to keep the truth about the [Exodus] from his journal.'

    You say, 'What Exodus?'

Arbogast says 'The Exodus is the single biggest lie propagated onto the people of Katta Castellum in the known history of the intelligent races. Hogwash I tell you.'

Miller says 'A bloody, boldfaced lie!'

Arbogast says 'A story told to children. Tsaph Katta wove together a tale of Seru trying to kill him on the fantasy world of "Norrath" and how the entire combine fled here to escape from him... a wheel of lies, do you see how they interconnect? Why, I'll bet that even in Shadowhaven, the very site of this alleged "Exodus" and home to one of the grandest libraries you will ever see, not a single shred of reliable evidence regarding such an event could be found. HA! You bring me a book on this "Exodus" and Miller here will eat his hat! Especially if the book is wrapped in that gold paper I gave you...'

You get a "Gold Wrapping Paper" container. At this point you go to ShadowHaven to the Library and find Beriol, or just skip and go to Rianna.

Beriol Talorakoir says 'Hail ______. And good day to you. What brings you to my quarters today? Do you wish to learn more about the [magic] that we study in our hallowed section of the Shadowhaven?

You say, 'Do you know of Exodus?'

Beriol Talorakoir says 'Ahh, the event that started it all it was the strife between Seru and Tsaph Katta that ultimately brought us here to Luclin. Those must have been interesting times but, being over twenty generations Luclin born, I could only guess. One of these days I would like to read up on the subject, but what little we do have about it is always checked out. If that's what you came looking for, good luck - check with Rianna, she is usually up on those things.'

Go to Rianna Birchard, to the right of Beriol by the wall.

    You say, 'Hail, Rianna Birchard'

Rianna Birchard turns to you and smiles brightly, 'Hello, ______. Lots of work to be done - books to shelve, lessons to learn... I know it sounds a bit ridiculous, but I feel so at home here.'

You say, 'Do you know of Exodus?'

Rianna Birchard says 'Wow, what an interesting subject - almost impossible to gather hard evidence on, even for me. It seems that everyone was so taken off guard by the sudden change of scenery that no one bothered to keep any written record of the time. First they had to figure out where they were and once they did there was so much disagreement as to what they should be doing - try to get home, stay where they were and settle in or put some distance between them and Seru should he and his people try to follow, which, of course they did. All this lead to the formations of three of the four major cities here on Luclin, all with... oh listen to me go on, sorry. We have only one book on the subject, but Peqi borrowed it just the other day.'

    You say, 'Where is Peqi?'

Rianna Birchard frowns a bit for the first time this conversation, 'Peqi... Let me tell you, I like just about everyone but if that little gnome never found his way back to this library I wouldn't be too disappointed.'

The book on the Exodus comes off Peqi Biato, who spawns in Shadow Haven in the buildings near the entrance to the casters' guild. Combine this book in the gold paper Arbogast gives you and return the resulting "A Gold Wrapped Book" to him.

Arbogast says 'Ahhh, excellent... I am glad to see your interest piqued. It is the truth that will liberate the masses when the masses fail to liberate the truth. To continue to divine and demystify the truth from the mistruth, I employ a powerful component known to the Akheva as 'Akuel xi ans Vius' which translated means 'Thing that tells Truth.''

Yavik Teralin says 'It translates to 'Gift of the Dark' you fool!'

Arbogast says 'Oh, the foolish and naive, they are the salt of the land... anyhow, bring me two of these wrapped in the black paper you have and I shall reward you, my new ally of truth, with a cherished robe that was given us by Seru himself. Isn't that right Miller? Miller...'

You receive "Black Wrapping Paper." The Akuel xi ans Vius are tradeable, but TEMPORARY, and do drop in Akheva. Combine 2 unstacked in the black paper Arbogast gives you and return the resulting "A Black Wrapped Item" to him.

Arbogast says 'Oh, would you look at that?'

Miller looks a bit distressed and says to Arbogast, 'You said he would die getting these and we could keep...'
Arbogast silences Miller with a kick under the table and smiles broadly at you, 'Well done and my very sincere thanks to you. The cloak is in the bank, Miller and I each hold a piece of it. We will go get it for you now.' Miller and Arbogast lean in close to each other and discuss this in whispers for a moment before getting up and heading out, Miller looking most dejected.

Arbogast says 'Right then, let's get going Miller.'

Miller and Arbogast do their business with the bank, Miller retrieving a heavy brown cloak and Arbogast a beautiful golden clasp. They look up at each other, unable to bear the thought of actually parting with their treasures when Arbogast says, 'You know what? I think we'll keep them. Thanks for your help, don't be a stranger. Come now Miller, let's not be a bother.' With that, they both tear off out the door.

    Miller says 'Wait for me!'

You will have to kill both Miller and Arbogast. Miller is approximately a level 47 warrior, Arbogast a level 49 cleric. Miller drops a Heavy Drape, as well as 2 NO TRADE/TEMPORARY swords, Arbogast the clasp (called "Ornate Carcanet"), a NO TRADE shimmering mace (Akheva Bane, +6 wis, 11/24, I believe). Both also drop a piece of Baleen Plate. Place the clasp in the drape, hit combine, and lo and behold! A Cloak of Truth.

Is there a way to make them spawn? (Arbogast adn Miller)

I was there before the patch today and they weren't there. Logged on right after patch and they still weren't there. According to everyone the quest is not broke but yet I am not able to find these guys. I have the no rent stones on a corpse outside the building and the combined gold package. Kinda looking forward to finishing this quest anyone have any info?

Ok, got my first "Cloak of Truth" keeled the little gnome wizard 2 times (about 48 hours apart), so i dont know if 72 hours would be a correct spawn time..
Also, The Protector in Akheva is a static spawn- the thing was up every half an hour and DINDT always drop the damn stone i needed so i spent all damn day there. AND he wonders right past the pillar so all ya need is a group good enough to keep that area clear and u can grab him everytime he wonders by. By the way - if u dont catch him when he wonders by, he will wonder the halls and come back - so dont worry if u miss a shot at him.....

Lastly, i walked into the bar and blasted that stupid cleric (prolly shouldnt have) and it agged them both... Pain the rear... But a very nice level 60 darkie happened to be makin fun of the guards to the left of the building and helped me out :) (Thanks again)...

Got my 2 stones last night of a mob called a Rygan Anisher. He is a static spawn in the room at the end of the north hall and he spawns at same rate as everything else there. My group was there for like an hour and killed him twice and it dropped stone both times. Dunno if we got lucky with drops or what but seems if you camp there a couple hours you will get stones easily.

Has Anyone Seen the protector Spawn recently?

I've spent a couple of days camping the zone, while the XP is actually pretty good, I've not seen him pop even once. I'm beginning to think the spawn has ben nerfed/broken otherwise just screwed up.

Also, I've heard that other mobs in the zone will drop the Akuel-xi-ans-Vius if you go deeper in, can anyone confirm this?

    Any help would be appreciated.

OK, as an edit to the above. He finally spawned again, I think they just made him more rare is all. he was a pain in the butt, a lot tougher than the centi's at the zone. Also he definatly gates, did so on us.

Angell, after you handed it to Arbogast, did you wait for them to go to the bank? If you killed them before that, then you wouldn't get anything.

Acutally.. i got through the door by changing into wolf form, sticking my head through the door and camping.. when i logged back in, i was in the room. the only problem with this method is that a dude spawns and tries to kill you. so port or gate out.. i didnt have enough time to camp back through the door. good thing i had a cleric with me ^_~

Has the Protector's spawn cycle been changed recently? After three weeks trying to get the stones I am near giving up. The protector seems to have vanished, he has not spawned at all in almost 4 days now. previously during a 4 hour Akehva hunt I would see him many times, but I only ever seemed to be able to get 1 stone. Several months ago he seemed to be always up, and almost always dropped the stone.

Hand the black wrapping to Miller, did this quest not two hours ago, plus now even if you hand the wrong item to the wrong NPC they hand it back saying they don't need it. try it give some food to a NPC and see for yourself
    Peqi
    # May 16 2002 at 4:35 AM Rating: Default
Peqi is a lvl 50ish wizard (con blue at 52). his max hit was 132, although he didnt hit me much. As a 56 shaman, i summoned my pet, but that was pretty useless, as i tanked him. He likes to cast the force shock spell, which does about 500 dmg, but it's really easy to resist it.
He has about 5-6k hp. 2 bane of nife, 1 nuke of 655, one of 630 ( dru one) and a 430. plus the pet. Be sure to snare him as he will flee, and i dont know if guard will help you, and i really dont want to know P.
I camped him for 4 days
Hope this helped you a bit

    Turn in still to miller
    # May 12 2002 at 2:31 AM Rating: Good
Did the last part of quest tonight, and yes the turn in is still to Miller. I was afraid to turn the last wrap into Miller since the patch, and at first nothing happened, took 4 or 5 secs for them to head to the bank. When they leave the bank they run very fast back to the bar, just let them and pull them one at a time from there(attacking Arbogast will not make Miller attack also, he will just stand there in the bar and wait patiently for his turn to die, so you can med in between them if need be.) They both hit pretty hard 120ish, and try to stun Arboghast as much as possible as he complete heals, he also buffed himself before we attacked so annul magic is a good idea to do on both.

Btw, for those of you who chose not to fight the coterie behind the locked door, who was incredibly easy for a 54 rogue and 54 cleric to kill(conned light blue), the next person who enters the room gets attacked by him. So those entering the room be prepared that there might be one inside already, and then another will spawn the moment you pick up the book. The coterie also drops a pair of rogue shoes, not sure on the stats but had a 3% mod to sneak.

For the peron who asked if you can just kill them without doing the quest, no, when they come back from the bank they will be weilding weapons, which they do not have before. Arboghasts weapon isn't too bad(6/22 6wis 5svm/f 5 bane to akheva and greater akheva) and has a unique graphic, the other stuff they drop besides the cloak pieces is crap.
    Hmmm...
    # May 10 2002 at 9:46 AM Rating: Default
Is it possible to just kill these guys without doing the quest and they drop that stuff? Or do you have to do the quest for them to drop the wraps and clasp? *grin*
    Getting to book without rogue
    # May 10 2002 at 2:26 AM Rating: Decent
Dont need to pick the lock to get into the room with the book in katta. But, what you need to do could be considered an exploit so be warned.

Walk into the door as far as you can and sit down. Make sure you are in the middle of the door facing direcly into the room. Camp out and come direcly back in. You will have moved a couple inces forward. DO NOT MOVE. Sit down and camp out again. Repeat untill you are completely through the door. You can look around and make sure you are looking straight into the door but dont move untill you are through the door.

Secondly, there is a corterie servant that attacked me after i picked up the book. Lt. Blue to 54. Just rooted him and gated.

I haven't seen them either and I began checking 10-12 hours before the patch...I play on the Povar server. Finally got everything I need to complete the quest and they aren't up. So I've been leaving a character sit there for up to 8 hours at a time (heard they are 8hour spawn)for the past 3 days. Also petitioned 3 times but no GM response.
