I've seen post saying that the pelts are tradeable and others that say they are No-drop. Could someone that knows what the heck they are talking about(or better yet several peeps) please clear this up?

I am interested in conducting some experiments on the hides of the giant leopard titan and the giant sabretooth titan. Once I have acquired those hides I will seek to conduct experiments on the [others]. You say, 'What others?' Akbaq Salid says 'Once I have finished my studies of the feline titans pelts I am interested in experimenting with the hides of the strongest of the stonebrunt titans, the gigantic gorilla and the gargantuan panda! The [ancient snake] that inhabits those mountains is another matter that you may be interested in as well. You say, 'What ancient snake?' Akbaq Salid says 'I believe I have uncovered a process with which to harness the mystical properties of the scales of the snake titan so that they can be fashioned into a powerful robe. There seem to be three rewards here: 1) The hides of the Sabertooth (Snowbeast) and Leopard (Prowler of the Jungle) Titans get you the Astral Cloak of the Titans. 2) The hides of the Gigantic Gorilla (Old Ghostback) and Gargantuan Panda (Giang Yin) get you the Astral Leggings of the Titans. 3) The Skin of the Ancient Snake (off Slyder the Ancient) and a piece of Platinum Thread get you the Scaled Robe of the Elder Serpent. I have noticed after killing alot of Elder Granitebacks that Old Ghostback seems to appear and the same for Giang yin when I have been on my anti-panda campaigns. So, the other ancients may spawn after hunting their specific relatives.
Agreed I was killing cats...tigers mostly..and Named tiger spawned.

OK, lots of confusing information with this quest: first of all, I dont think they spawn at any set location, I have seen them all at different places around the cat city.
They can not be snared or rooted, regardless of what someone posts here. This has nothing to do with their MR. All of my spells stuck on them and most of them hit for full damage.
Me (54 wizard) and my friend (60 ranger) had no trouble killing any of these. Ranger tracked them, then pulled them to the south west part of the zone (we pulled here because of less chance of adds or help from the cats). I blasted them with ice comet, usually after two shots, they were running for their life.
They do not drop the Pelts everytime.
They are up quite often. I dont know if they despawn or have to be killed. But I know, on Bertox, this is a pretty empty zone now.
Ok, here is my questions (please respond to this if you have actually completed the quest):
To get the legs and cloak, do you have to turn in a platinum thread also? Or do you just turn in the appropriate pelts and Akbaq gives you the appropriate reward?
He wants a platinum thread along with the Ancient Snake Skin - but says nothing about a thread with the other pelts?
So is this right:
Giant White Tiger pelt + Giant Leopard pelt = Astral Cloak of the Titans
Giant Panda pelt + Giant Gorilla pelt = Astral Leggings of the Titans
Ancient Snake Skin + Platinum thread = Scaled Robe of the Elder Serpent
Please respond if you have actually completed this quest, so we dont turn in stuff (incorrectly) and have to start quest all over. :o)

Maybe i missed a post but what is a platinum thread? if anyone could clear that up for me where to get it or how to make it i saw one person say it costs 225 plat but didnt mention how to make it.

You dont make the platinum thread, you have to purchase it. You can buy silver (used for tailoring - crystalline silk armor), gold (no idea what these are used for), and platinum threads. I know you can buy them in Thurgadin in Frostbeards Furs & Leather; have been told you can buy them in Erudin as well.

Ok yes you can buy the thread in Erudin and Paineel, But the only thing you need them for in the quests is for the robe not the leggings or the cloak I have done this quest countless times and love doing it cause killing the cats in Stonebrunt is helping me get that dang tailoring skills up and also after the Heretics in there for the haste sash and when I see I titan I kill it. I hope that answered your question that...

Where in SBM are the Anciants? where they spawn what are PH's how i find them etc? im a 44th level magician and can get help if i need it but i was looking for them at one point and found NOTHING where the heck are they all the posts are about what to do once you have found them...

Is There Any Specific Spot For the Named MOBS that You need? Or any Specific thing You have to Kill in Order for It to spawn? If so What and where Are they

anyone have info on how to get them to spawn. are there PH's or do you just kill every gorilla till ghostback pops same for the others. any info would be useful

Yes, they can be slowed. Quite easily even. As a 52 shaman I was able to kill all Titans solo. Giang Yin hits pretty hard though, and one time he did had the better of me.
Out of curiousity would it be possible just to make a Erudite mule who would loot the skins for this quest and then turn them in and get these sweet pieces of equip? Or is there a lot of other high lvl creatures that would love to kill my poor muley running around?
Also at what lvl does the trivial loot code jump in?

Most mobs in the zone are well above the level of a mule and there are a lot of roaming mobs. If you have invis you would be ok but most casters dont get that right away and it is not reliable all the time. My 40 druid still gets beat up pretty bad by the mobs here when invis drops even though a lot are green...and running adds mobs fast if your not careful. Of course there is the fact that you have to run through Tox, Paneel, and the Warrens just to get to Stonebrunt. Invis is necessary in Paneel if you are not a necro or on good faction there. The NPCs cast some 100+ hp DD spells if they see you.

I want to do this quest, but as an Iksar I am KoS to the quest giver. I have dubious faction with the guards, so I can enter the city, but this particular quest giver is KoS to me. Any ideas about how to raise faction with him?

to get better faction with that npc you need beter faction with the Crimson Hands. or maybe getting better faction with The Erudite Citezens would help try doing the quest for Erud's Tonic that raises erudite itezen faction & its a 2-3min quest lol.

Do you have to do all of the quests in order to get an item? For instance, I'd like to obtain the leggings, would I have to do the cloak quest before the leggings? Was just confused on the wording because he says "once i have aquired..."

This is confusing... I got two pelts off Snowbeast and two pelts off the Prowler... am I supposed to hand in both pelts from each to get the cloak or do I have enough to get two cloaks?

Might do this just for the CHA to keep tradeskilling costs down. Besides that, not worth it except for enchanters.

If I finish the other quests, I will have something like 220 int on my Enc, I'd rather get the charisma at this point and would wear this one over my Jumpy or FBCR.

actually this is a half decent mid-level enchanter robe. I would wear it over my BCR any day..the extra charisma is nice and the svd and int is easy to make up.

Well I discovered the other day that you will now get the Robe from the Ansient snake quest, and so I sent all the info on it to this site, so we should see it soon.
