Superior Combine DaggerVahn also drops Superior Combine Dagger.
I did this quest earlier today and can confirm that if you out damage the Guards (not difficult nowadays) his corpse will not poof on death.

Dropped 2 daggers for me...they didn't poof. One was dagger of the eye, which is lore, the other was a different dagger, less damage more delay and no stats but I don't remember what it was off hand.
I have done this quest twice in the last week and Vahn dropped the daggers each time.

This is the halfling mob that appears at the end of the Traitor to Validus Custodus quest. In the course of the quest, you have to kill him and his buddy, Legionnaire Claudius.
He doesn't drop anything when he dies, but you can disarm a Dagger of the Eye from him.
He hits fast and hard with that dagger of his, but if you train him to Katta guards, they will help you kill him.
Edit: It turns out that Vahn may in fact drop this dagger. However, Katta guards help you kill him so you must do enough damage to get credit for the kill in order for him not to poof when he dies. Thanks to Saventh for pointing that out.

problem now-a-days is if an NPC does any dmg to a mob it "poofs".
