On Killing Brownies
# Oct 24 2003 at 8:42 AM Rating: Good
Got the corrupted last night and killed the little guy with me (lvl 60 druid) and 55 bst. We didn't have time for a protracted camp, so we would just log in, kill 3 or 4 cycles of spawns, then log and try again later. Got the tainted on the third round of spawns on the third attempt.

Some things to note: the scouts do indeed spawn at loc 0,0 and they will wander back to their spawn point. We would camp at 0,0, buff up and just wait for the little guys to come back home, so to speak. Within a few minutes, each would return and we'd kill em. I think this was actually faster than using track to clear them. However, be warned that one might be there when you log in, so be ready to root and have wolf form mem'd so you won't get multiples if another wanders back while fighting. After wanderers are cleared, they will spawn in on top of you at loc 0,0. Just pick em off.

Also, because the spawn time is around 15 minutes, it's a rather boring camp. I stayed in wolf form, but the bst didn't use it until the tainted spawned. That way, if we were afk briefly and a brownie spawned, it would jump the bst and his pet would start whacking it and we wouldn't miss the spawn.

Finally, when we got the tainted, I DID wolf form the bst. After we killed the tainted and started on the corrupted, another scout spawned in but ignored us, which was nice. Not that it would have made a huge difference. Bst + pet both tanked tainted and corrupted back to back, I never healed and we ended the fight with pet at full health and bst at 60%.

Final note on tained/corrupted - they didn't cast anything - not one spell. Corrupted summoned, but it didn't matter, because he summoned bst and bst was meleeing anyway. I just snared and dot'd the tained (just one cast of winged death) and did the same to the corrupted. Only additional thing I did was chain nuke the corrupted with Moonfire. Every cast hit for full damage.

So, all and all, the tainted/corrupted sounded scarier than they really turned out to be. Good luck and bring a meleeing friend if you can - makes it a cakewalk!

Went thru LFay and the Tainted was up. Solo'd him easily with 60m to spare (I'm a 57 dru), but I knew I couldn't get the Corrupted with the remaining mana so I gated out after doting him once. It took me about 5 mins to get back because I was bound in PoK, but he (the Corrupted) was still up when I got there. I took another 5 mins or so to med/rebuff before I attacked him again.

1 Ensnare, 3 Engorging Roots, 4 dots (2 Winged Death/2 Drifting Death), and a couple of DD's (Breath of Karana) finally took him down with no mana to spare. In addition to the Branch, he also dropped Words of Energy (whatever those are for!?).

I didn't ever see him cast a spell, he just kept summoning me about every 8 seconds - like Meeshak previously mentioned in another post - which was plenty of time to get spells off in between summons. He'd hit me once or twice on each summon so I had to heal myself quite a bit, which is why mana ran out so fast. Even though the DD's broke root, I think the quick damage was worth it because obviously, the longer you fight him, the more time he has to keep summoning you into range to beat on you. His max hit, which he did often, was 126.

I only had KEI and my own druid buffs cast on me. Plus, I still have very lame mid-lvl gear (225 Wis with KEI and almost no +mana) so I'm sure others at my lvl and below can solo him, too. Just gate out after the Corrupted pops or do like Winvaryen suggested in an earlier post and take the Tainted down to about 5% then med to full and rebuff before killing it to trigger the Corrupted.

Funny thing about this "druid." When me and my 52 pally friend, me being 53 at the time, went to kill this guy, I only saw him cast one spell. The only time he cast was while we were medding up after killing the tainted, I wonder what was going thru his head when there were two wolves staring at him.

Anyways, the only thing he cast was Skin like Wood on himself. WTF! That is a lvl 1 spell!

All in all a very easy kill. Sadly the pally died in the encounter, mainly a communication problem.

Yes he still spawns ... but spawns from the Tainted brownie. Which is on my tracking atm, along with that stupid black horse, and the pained unicorn.

My wife's 52 DRU was in lfay shopping for an enchanter and she saw the tainted on track. I popped in with my 51 WIZ, we got share wolf form, and off we went. The tainted went down easy, DRU kept it snared/rooted and WIZ unloaded ice comets. The corrupted spawned, and WIZ was way low on mana. Oops. We tried the corrupted, but couldn't keep him still. In the end, WIZ was out of mana and DRU was trying to outrun the summons to get a heal off. She did, and eventually she zoned and I evac'ed off the aggro list.

I camped to my 57 bard while she medded up. She went back in and verified that he had not despawned. Bard came over, got share wolf form, and we tried again. This time is did nothing but twist snare and fear while meleeing. DRU followed along and nuked for all she was worth. Brownie went down with only one spell cast on us: a root that did not hold when I first snared him.

The share wolf form helped alot though. In the tainted fight, we had at least one brownie scout run right over us while we were nuking. He never paid us any attention since we were both wolves.

Was camped here for the second time and hope see corrupted pop. (spend last time 3 hours and half to kill all scout and no corrupted spawned)

Me (druid 54) and a friend wizzy 63, was KEI'ed, and buffed, well, tainted spawn Woow cool! Both of us was Fom, so let's do it !

Hehe, Snare, root, Dot, then a good Root/nuke synchro...,BUT, dont forgot that there is 3 pop times !! So when we were on the corrupted one, the second tainted poped, and a third Scout, even they are quite simple to kill but, when u have a corrupted who summon you, a tainted that u need keep rooted and NOT KILL to not get 2 corrupted ! this damn lil scout give you big trouble , attack u when u run away from summon , interrupt your cast and HIT you, even not terribly hard but HIT you !

So, corrupted was at 27% HP when we two was at about 15% ..,so we start to run as far as we can an finally stop be summoned for a little..,at the end, mmm /sigh /sigh another druid 59 comes help us, then she get summoned as well and been in trouble, then a chanter 63 comes help us too, and when she arrived, 2/3 of us read that : Returning to home point, please wait...
Loading, please wait...
+ for both
Welcome to lvl 53, You LOST your Level 54 !
Welcome to lvl 62, You LOST Your Level 63 !

So, 3 body, (cause wizzy dead 2 times in 2 minutes), corrupted and second tainted finally depoped, lost exp and so much desapointement... !!
So 20 min to find body, rez and rez and rez and.... bah grrrrSmiley: cry

>AND WHY ? Smiley: banghead
>>>DO NEVER PULL UR CORRUPTED BROWNIE NEAR SPAWN CAMP ! DONT FORGOT THEY SPAWN BY 3 !!! <<<

/sigh /sigh

Myself a level 58 druid and two friends of mine a level 55 and 53 druid got this guy to spawn twice in lesss than an hour. Myself being the higher of the three rooted snared and dotted him to take the agro. When he summoned me I just used my scoraie as often as I could between interuptions while the other two druids pummeled him with fire, and kept me alive with heals. All in all an easy kill. He spawns at location 0 . 0 .
There pop point!
# Mar 20 2003 at 3:32 AM Rating: Decent
If you go to Loc Pos 57 Pos 12 after you have killed all the current ones running around and face due south you well see them drop in then just root and nuke no more track and chase...
not a bad spawn

was on sat. working on epic for druid, and it must have been druid epic day on TM , was actually going to do the deepwater in LoIO, however they where camped, I got this one as a group was pulling out. took about 2 hours for the spawn to pop. easy kill, had 58 mage with epic pet though, so that is why it was easy I would bet. sat in the middle of the zone, I forget the loc. sorry, but it did spawn, 16 min. timer on the Ph's.

Was there for only 18 minutes at most. Killed all 3 wondering scouts on track around 0,0. 15 minutes later, tainted showed up, monk attacked while I sitted back and dot'd. Lucky camp for me :)

I solod him at level 58. The key is to KEEP HIM ROOTED. He will summon you about every 8 secononds. This gives you enough time to get 1 or 2 clorblasts off or 1 dot. I usually healed about every third summon. Kept him doted and he went down after about 6 minutes.

Refresh root about 3 and a half minutes into the fight.

If your too low root wont last and your gonna be in troble. When he died, I had 30 percent mana left. 233 wiz with KEI on but lots of + mana items

Let me apologize for my stupidity...

It's not a camp...

0,0 just so happens to be the place where the brownies spawn, then they wander away...

Now if I can just get those brownies to sell me cookies!

Wizard solo stuff
# Dec 16 2002 at 5:36 PM Rating: Default
Wizards above level 55 are often found soloing this mob as yet another means of leveling solo to 60. One of THE most boring experiences you will ever have, but for our class, it is a common means of getting there. You can read about various ways in which wizards solo this guy on Graffe's site. Long thread of posts there on their ez-board forum describing the camp, so if you are a high level wizzy looking to take a break from quad kiting Raptors in TM or whatever, this guy may be an alternative for you.

Not too hard using 55 wiz and 60 dru. Think any 55 plus dru and 1 other 55+ can do it. Tried solo but had to exodus after getting him to 40%.

My Druid, was lvl 41 at the time, and was invited to go along with a higher lvl druid, of lvl 50. We had one Paladin, at lvl 47, and a Necro friend came along out of boredom. The necro was lvl 54. For the corrupted, Druids snared and dotted, Necro feared it, and the Paladin tore it to pieces. The necro only had to cast fear twice, and the Paladin only got hit for a few hundred HP's during the fear breaks. Very easy if ya got a Necro to fear it.
Another Easy Way to Kill

Well after reading some of these post I was a little leary about going after him with just my 54 Druid and my hubby's 53 Mage, but we figured we'd give it a shot anyway.

Here's what we did:

*We both got KEI
*Since the MOB is a 51 druid, we loaded up on all of the resists (for the Mage's pet, too) lest he through a starfire our way
*Since he summons, the Mage cast an air pet to stun it and try to keep it from casting

The spawn times of the sets of 3 brownie scouts (LOC 0,0 near orc camp) was about 8-10 minutes. It took about 7 cycles of brownie scouts to spawn the tainted then the corrupted (I kept refreshing our buffs as they wore off). I'd recommend bringing some skill items to work on while you wait because it was boring.

Anyway, when the tainted spawned we were both close to full mana. I only snared it and gave it a free dot (ESVs) and let the pet do the rest. When the corrupted spawned, the pet attacked first and once he had established agro I snared/rooted him and tossed him a winged death & free dot then sat down to med. The pet, with a DS, did most of the work. I was only summoned twice (the meat shield-pet- was summoned 2-3 times) and I was only hit for a total of 364 points of damage. The air pet needed 1 superior heal but would have lived without it.

I think that the key was to have the resists high and to use the air pet to stun him so he couldn't cast. Not the only way to do it, but it was fairly simple. Good luck!

Was walking through LF earlier this month when I got a tell from a Druid looking for help with this part of his Epic. We medded 'til FM and the Druid pulled with Snare and DoTs; then I sent in my Fire pet and nuked a few times since I couldn't handle the aggro. The Brownie ended up going after the poor Druid exclusively and eventually killed him, but my pet ended killing the Brownie. The Druid looted the Epic and thanked me profusely.
The Druid mentioned that he couldn't be soloed and I believe him (and the rest of these posts). Never saw the Brownie summon since we never really fled and I didn't get attacked more than once or twice from the Brownie so I don't know how tough he is.
Not exactly helpful, but...

When you enter Lesser, hunt down the 3 wandering scouts and kill then. Thereafter, camp at approx p10,p10 where each of the 3 PH's will spawn about very 15 minutes. The PH's, tainted, and corrupted do not drop brownie parts. The other brownies in zone do drop the parts.
RE: More on tainted
# Feb 25 2003 at 6:43 PM Rating: Decent
Yes the scouts do drop the parts. I was there last night and 1 dropped, its not common, I think my buddy and I killed 21 of 'em.
Corrupted, finally

Camped this guy at least 2-3 times a week for upwards of 4 hours for the last month. Finally Aug 6, after we'd camped him about 90 minutes, the tainted spawned. Easily took him down with a 60 druid and 60 mage with epic pet. In between spawns, we ran over to the fort on the Northwest wall and killed the brownie guards for minor experience and brownie parts.

About 45 minutes after we got the drop, I gated out of KC where we are camping VSR, forgetting my gate was set in Lesser Faydark. About 5 minutes later, the tainted spawned again.

Greetings,

I found that the brownie Scouts spawn around every 15 minutes and 30 seconds. I haven't had a tainted pop yet, so I can't tell you on that.

Also, the Brownie Scouts on Karana pop exactly at POS 10, POS 10. Yes very close to 0,0. The scouts die very easy with a full group; almost to easy. Makes it a very boring camp.

Hope this helps you in some way.

I'm a LvL 60 Druid on MT and I tried to solo the Corrupted Brownie. All went well until he started summoning me over and over, about 4 seconds between each summon. Since when does a Druid (NPC or otherwise) get summoning ability?

Well, each summon would break my cast and I had little chance to get spells off while this hard hitting fellow was on me.

In the end I tried to gate but that failed too. Seems like a tank is the only way to take this mob.

I will try him another day with a LvL 60 Ranger buddy.

Ok, this is it.. just did it and it was easy, surprisingly easy. ALL you need is a necro, or ranger i suppose. All i had was a 55 necro, and me, a 55 Druid, and we did it no problem at all. My suggestion would be get a c3 just to help speed the process of killing the scouts, which are easily soloable by a 55 druid.. i was soloing them for about 30 min all by myself till the necro got there. Winged death and breath of ro and their dead, and for the tainted/ corrupted, just fear kite them, pull with annul magic then snare, then fear, with pet wacking away, and dot, it was easy. Now i know all you other druids out there can do it so get off your butts, get a necro friend, and get this piece of your epic done. Gluck

Well since early June the brownies in Lesser Fay have been bugged and they aren't casting so NOW is the time to get the corrupted part for your epic. Before Verant figures it out and fixes them all. LOL
