Why they removed the latter tax, I will never know. The babble at the tavern is that his crypt is near Cabilis. Blasted crypt raiders had best let him rest in peace, although... there may be much treasure there and he should still have to pay the death tax...'

DONT U PPL GET IT? listen, when i started an erudite character, i found a silver/copper coin in a nearby foutnain ( inside) which was no drop -which weighed(heavy coin DUH).... can someone try this, it will be unberably hard as you have to raise faction with either the erudites if ur an iksar or with the iksar if you are of a light race...

It is not "we" who don't get it... try doing your homework before posting inane comments like that ;)
Iksar have a different way to say things than softscales. Heavy coin means nothing but "lots of money".
Those coins found all over Norrath are for 'tash's coins' quest in Temple ofSol Ro. Reward is the spell : Tashani

I killed him with my 59 necro and a shaman buddy
at the time vi had sartar the unrivaled downstairs so i bribe a newbie to suicide pull him to allow us time to gank the haggle baron..
he resists all my spells so i had rely on pure tankage from my pet and bonded as necessary we killed him a feew times..you get massive faction hits with venders..as his dying words would hint too..we killed him 3 times wrecked our factions and stoped just shy of kos..he didnt drop anything of note :(

ask him " who is haggle baron dalnir" and you get a pleasant remark..now in dalnirs crypt there is a iksar spawn in penmaster room that drops a scroll that speaks of a staff that should be worth heavy coin..its staff used in a sk khurki quest he drops a piece and penmaster and chemlab imp then use hammer and grand forge and make the staff...now i tried to give this staff to haggle baron and got no reply or reward but im sure its part of it just need to one day find the keyphrase i guess..good luck trying..btw staff id as one of the kor sha blah blah etc etc

I tried giving him a cp, sp, gp, and pp. Usual response to all. Perhaps some 'heavy' coin can be found somewhere.

What is this heavy coin he speaks of? Does he want lots of money to talk about the half elf maiden (who I assume is behind the locked door nearby)? Anyone know what he is talking about?

2 things, half elf maiden is swimming in water near hagglebaron i think and he GIVES you a heavy coin

Tried to kill him with my level 37 Shaman iksar and he resisted every single spell; also duel hits for a max of 65.
He's easy to kill, if you're high enough level, my 42 monk soloed him. Wouldn't recommend doing it though; lowers Cabilis Residents (which all the merchants are on!) by a full notch; dropped my faction from amiable to indifferent. Also lowers Legion of Cabilis slightly. He doesn't drop anything, not even coin. Not worth it, really.
By the way, the half elf maiden is now spawning outside of the Haggle Baron's, over the water for some reason.
