Can someone confirm that by giving her rubies you lower your faction with Da Bashers in Grobb? Seems like a crappy thing to do to us trolls that rely on Grobb merchants but would also like the hoop.
If this IS true - what's the best way to raise your faction with Da Bashers to correct the negatives form giving her rubies?

YES the ruby quest very much does indeed lower grobb faction. There are a few small quests you can do to raise the faction, such as turning in froglok things, but I imagine it would take quite a while to reclaim the amount of faction you will lose. It can take ALOT of rubies to get the hoop. Took me 54 rubies to get it for my warrior. Luckily I never go to grobb.

killed her today, came here to see what large ruby was for.. faction hits were opposite what was posted here, i got better faction with dabashers and shadowknights of somethingerother. go figure

I have done the hoop quest 3 times now for friends (I have both tracking, and alot of patience). This is how many rubies it took:
first time - 39 rubies
second time - 43 rubies
Third time - 51 rubies (that one sucked)
I had a enchanter friend with ALLY faction, AND over 200 charisma buy the rubies for me. The lowest price that I know of that ANYONE can get for rubies is 131pp and change. (if anyone knows exactly where to get them cheaper by all means, enlighten us).
So, this is what we are looking at for costs:
first time 39 x 131pp = 5109pp
second time 43 x 131 = 5633pp
third time 51 x 131 = 6681pp
---------------------------------------------
average cost = 5801.66 pp
Some people have claimed to have gotten the hoop around the 20th ruby. I think these people are just very very lucky. DON'T expect to be this lucky, or you will be very disapointed. If you can find one of these selling for less than 5500pp I suggest you grab it, as its likely less pp than you would spend doing the quest yourself. And on a side note, Lynuga can take hours and hours and hours to spawn. (hunted bull aligators to pass the time).
These are just my thoughts and person experiances. No hearsay, no BS or guess work.

Ive done this several times, and if you sell the weapons from Lynuga to the merchant at the hand, you can cut the costs by 50%.

I have seen Lynuga spawn in 3 different places. The key is definitely to stay around Guk. Once she was down in the water right in front of Guk. Another time she was visible from Guk but in the distance on an island straight ahead. The third time she was on an island right of Guk. She still spawns. Keep in mind, if you aren't KOS to her, then you are eligible for Ivandyr's Hoop just as much as anyone else not KOS. If she kindly considers you, or looks your way apprehensively, you have the same chances of getting Ivandyr's Hoop. That info was confirmed by 2 former GMs and current testers with privelaged accounts.
I have personally given Lynuga 15 rubies and received no hoop. I went in with high hopes, thinking I would be lucky like when I got my Iksar Berserker Club in 1 hour, but now I have spent over 2,000pp in rubies for naught. I can only hope that I spend 5,000pp or LESS on this quest to receive a hoop, because the hoop itself is worth about 5,500pp and if I spent over 5,000 on the quest, I would have been much better off buying it straight out, as I've wasted much time waiting for Lynuga, after transferring rubies to a level 1 character that's not KOS to her. One former GM said they've seen people turn in 45 rubies and not receive a hoop. The same goes for people receiving it on the second try.
Remember, keep around Guk! She is usually visible from Guk, and if not, she's close.

I've not seen her, but I'd like to find her and do the Gem collection quest with her - does anyone know if I'll be KOS to her? I'm a Halfling Druid (20th level) and I've met up with the big Troll fellow who sells various spells in the Stone Hand at the northern end of the swamp - he cons red to me, of course, but indifferent (and will buy from me and sell to me) - so I'm wondering if she'll tolerate me as well as he does. Does anyone have any ideas? (I have seen the Troll Slayers wandering around, by the way, and so far I've just left them alone.)

I'm an Ogre Shaman, and I'd like her Hoop very much, of course... but I dont want to be cut of my herb supplies in Grobb - anyone knows if I could do the quest and still be allowed to go safely in Grobb to my long friend herb vendor, or should I need other guildmates do it for me?

searched for her for 2 hours last night hired a tracker and everything, finally someone mentioned that the troll slayer is her PH, figured what the heck i just saw him, so i back tracked a bit, found him and killed him, as i was typeing the message to my partner(the one looking for her) i see that i gain party exp and get a quick in group "found her" sadly asi came up the druid helping came to get a refresh on clarity and the troll chick attacked her only to die (only got to do 3 rubies) not 5 minutes later i find another troll slayer kill him and pop she was back in an instant.
WARNING i killed the troll slayer twice and now as a dark elf enchanter i am KOS in grobb to Da Bashers
this may just be our luck or it could be that the slayer is indeed a PH for her i will go kill the troll in gnome land a couple of times to get faction back up with the bashers before i kill again (or find someone to kill em for me)
Hope this helps (BTW one anarchy took out the slayer NP but tash first as their MR is high)

Anything else you can add about this? Were you trying to get the large ruby for the Jeweled Skull quest? What race/class are you? We camped the ilsand using the killkillkill method for 2 hours, and only got the troll slayer to pop.

Yes i was trying to get the large rubie, and i got it the first time i actually killed here (the first time she poofed) when i did it i was a 34 mage, now 42, used a water pet, so that the blast would kill all the lvl 1 stuff which spawned on the island. After she poofed the first time, i was so mad, so i just killed killed killed all in sight, and in like 30 mins she poped right there, with afew troll slayer pops too. she was quite easy to solo at 34 with a water pet.

I believe that she spawns near the island outside of guk as well. Over my time in eq i have only seen her in that area and usually when I was helping newbies kill frogloks on that island. Best bet is to kill everything and keep your eyes open (with a ranger or druid) with a tracker. Either killing the trollslayer or letting him de-pop may help the spawn. I will test this myself shortly (40 rubies in backpack and ready to go).

She gives the midnight mallet quest which you have to give her a ruby.She will also give you a brutechopper 16 something or ivandyrs hoop which is a nice earring for casters.

I looked for Lynuga for about 4 straight hours with 3 ranger trackers and 1 druid tracking I never once saw her. Anyone know the spawn time or if she has a placeholder?

i just saw her standing outside the entrance to Guk. don't recall the time...it was daytime though.
You get the following faction hits when you hand her a ruby:

I had to camp out the entrance area of Guk where she spawnes for 17 hrs it sucked . Got the Hoop on the 9th try made the mistake of not taking other items she gave me out of my inventory at first, and as they are lore items you may only have one so when it was given again you get nothing. ( just drop what you dont want on the ground , at least someone else can have them by picking them up) as an enchant i used ilusion Troll and she was happy enough to trade with me but at the end of my trades after i had the Hoop my ilusion droped she was not happy with me (Edruite) and killed me :( one other thing the hoop cannot be worn by HIGH ELVES)

I killed her at the entrance to Guk(only because she attacked me) and she dropped a Large Ruby - No Drop. Someone told me it's for the jeweled skull quest.

Where is she? and what illusions can i use to hand her rubies? I am a high elf so i know that wont work? and what level MUST i be to be able to get the hoop?
