It took me 24 hours to get him to spawn. He showed up in the South-East portion of the zone, near the orc camp. Pretty sure he can spawn in multiple locations around the zone just like all the other rare mobs here. His Place Holders are all the roaming mobs, again, just like all the other rare mobs here.

Been after this guy for months.. got tired of trying to camping him than later heading to Mistmoore and I saw him on track and I song of Highsong'ed him and his location is -437, -197 and than I killed him in a flash and dropped a Bottle of drake breath..
Still spawns. Was there for a few hours and you have to get Thistle Underbush to spawn before Old Dimshimmer will spawn and that's no guarantee that it will happen. Didn't drop the tree clickie. It dropped the Bottle of Drake breath. I suggest having a tracker with you if you plan on camping this named.
I have been in Lfay killing fae's for unknown hours over many days in the past week. No sign of him. I know hes supposed to be rare but does he still spawn?
As of Feb. 17, 2005, i can confirm this guy does indeed still spawn. He spawned near the greater faydark entrance, he dropped drake breath potion and a Bloodstone Ring
I was goofing around lesser faydark with my 30 nec whom was waiting for a rez. When i saw two guards (from ranger camp i think) who conned dark blue to me chasing a named brownie that couldnt kill me and conned green even. After they killed him they started walking back to their camp. Out of curiosity i shortly followed them and old dimshimmer spawned right next to a tree. Being a nec with pet out i insantly killed it with pet and one nuke for 160 he died almost instantly. As for the named brownie he seems to be a wandering npc who doesnt even know better than to not wander where he is kos.

When i heard that he dropped a tree illusion i thought it would be funny to have and mess with people so i thought id run down to Lfay and kill him. But ive been down there many times and ran through the whole zone and kept clicking track and never saw him up. He a real rare spawn? And is there a way to force spawn him by killing certain mobs?
Yes, from what I've seen he's pretty rare. I think I'm one of the few people that has actually taken the time to camp him for stones... I check for him on a regular basis and have only seen him up twice. I haven't seen him up in the past couple months, so I dunno if he still spawns or not. The stones appear to be somewhat rare. He did not drop for me either time I killed him and I have yet to find someone within the last 6 months that could so much as link me one. Tonight I happened to find a guy selling TWO of em in bazaar with full charges $$ that's why I actually came to post. Merchant only offers a few gold for a charged one so I would imagine using the merchant buyback trick you could keep charges forever for a few plat a hit tops. I'll post again when I find out how much it costs to recharge.
Merchant buy-back trick is no longer functioning. SoE "fixed" it recently in a patch. Any item sold to a vender no retains the same # of charges it had when you sold it to them. Items are no longer recharged by simply selling them to a vender.
And vendors now recognize an items charges. You also used to be able to sell a sow potion with (1) charge fo the same amount as (10) charges. They now will give you less, for less charges. also fixed.
First off the effect of root isn't actualy that it prevents your toon from being capable of making any movements, but rather that it makes voluntary movement impossible. If you look at the spell root, I believe that it's effect is reduce target's rate of movement by 7000% (just what I think it said). Second, I think that only moves such as bash have knockback on them. Just my experience. Third, think of it as the defference between someone punching you in the middle of a field and someone punching you while you are standing with your back against a wall; doesnt help much. Sorry if I have given incorrect information in my post.

Is there something "cool" about a negative runspeed %? About as f'ed up as the backwards (Y,X) coordinate system that confuses anyone that passed Algebra I.
I have an enchanter (27 now) and druid (11 or 12?) on Morell-Thule server. On my spell lists, it posts that treeform gives regenerating effects but for Illusion: Tree, you only get to look like a tree. As far as I can tell, Illusion: Tree has no actual use but to stand real still and spy on people (If you are bored and have no life). It doesn't really matter though, because 4 levels later at 20, chanters get Illusion: Troll which gives regen too.
this potion may not stop you from being attacked by a npc train... but on a pvp server, imagine how useful tree form would be in a forest zone. you could hide from pkers.
One quick thing about the tree illusion. It doesn't stop you from getting hit. Believe me, I got attacked and nearly killed by an orc leggo in CB while under that illusion. Sorry, but I'm afraid the tree illusion won't stop the trains from wacking you. =P
