soloed this guy with my lv 46 monk (before the patch that made this zone 55+) i had a little help from some low lv 30 healers, i would guess that for a lv 50+ this guy would of been a poon, HT for 400+ though =( . . . i got the bp when i took him out =)
Is this guy still in Cazic thule? or does he pop outside of CT? seeing as everything in CT is now 55+, this guy is really underpowered for there unless he went up in level
Watched a strong group of forties and fifties to take him down the other night (just before CT went crazy with the update, sigh). They had no problem, mind you, but it seemed to be about five members working pretty steadily to take him out. I would think your druid would want a few more levels before feeling so confident (though, if he spawns outside of CT now, it might be possible to kite him).
me 44 rogue and my guild leader a 45 pally were camping him for the BP we cleared the room adn sat down so he could med up to buff me then just after he fished buffing bamm i am hit for 381pts of damage so i evaded as i shoud have and dropped agro and it was history from there took him farley easy after the harm touch so there u have it a 44rogue and a 45 pally took him rather easily
Ok, here goes. A lvl 37 rng (me), a lvl 45 dru, and a lvl 50 war, took him out with absolutely no problems tonight. We were a little worried, and we kind of overprepared, so maybe that is why we had no problems, but the druid put on endure magic, pack regen, protection of diamond, and i put riftwind's protection on everyone, then we DS'ed up and ran in (no sow in case we got feared). The warrior took the HT, don't know how much it was for, then we proceeded to beat him down. The druid didn't need to heal any of us, he just rooted the adds and DoT'ed the AoF. So there u go.
I camp this room with my 49 druid for exp of all things. Counting the 1/3 bub for the avatar, the roughly 1/6 a bub per crusader (because of the darkforge quest) I get pretty decent exp and loot. Now if I could just get the other piece I need for the darkforge BP... Looted the chainmail the first time in here, now I can't get crap...
Heheh, At lvl 56 I find that pulling the AoF can be real fun. All I do is walk partly down the long hallway that leads to the upper area of the bubble room and he comes running out after me. Not sure why this happens now but it's fun to go yank him from the room without having to do any REAL work and then play with him a little bit before nailing his feet to the ground and slicing him up. Always a favorite past time of mine. Typically I go in for the Cenobyte and the gate potions he drops (VERY nice to have a collection of these for plains raids and...well...if you just cant find a port to Antonica.) Anyway, I have a lot of respect for the AoF and seeing him never fails to make me go, "wow". I remember back in the day when Cazic Thule was camped on a regular basis with 50 or more people and this guy would kill more then his fair share of groups. To kill him was a feat. Now, he's long forgotten but I like to stop in and say "hi" sometimes.
Well, we did a spur of the moment "raid" on this guy. 35 ENC, 40 CLC, 42 WAR, 35 DRD, 39 CLC. We got down to his doorway, and cleaned out the room systematically. After a while, a 51 Mage strolls in and we thought he was going to try to take the AOF from us, so our leader talked to the guy.
He decided he would leave if we ported him to WC. The Druid and I ( ENC ) decided to go, so I could lead the Druid back, since he didn't know the way. We ported out, and our leader ( 40 CLC ) got caught in the port.
We port back to Feerrott, run to Cazic, and in the Courtyard, our leader goes LD. He's Invis and knows his way, and close to the zone line, so we leave him as he is safe.
Druid and I get back down there and we kill a Cenobyte then the druid says "AOF is up." We're pretty excited, since this was going to be a "milestone" for our very small guild. Someone opened the door ( guessing the War, since he took the HT ) and I saw something along the lines of "Avatar of Fear begins to cast a spell."
/g Oh Sh*T!
We weren't going to do it until our Leader got back, but it was too late to do that, now! There's only the 4 of us, since the 40 CLC isn't logged back in, yet. I mezzed the pet, kept the tank hasted, and waited for adds, but none came and there were no healers up. Cleric did a great job healing without drawing aggro. The druid did a little melee, DS, and started healing at the end when the Cleric went OOM.
AOF went down, CLC OOM, DRD almost OOM, I had a lot of Mana, and was about to start chaining Rune III. Got 3 screenshots, from the back, front and one with the corpse.
The HT hit for 300, the War said. The War is fairly twinked, and that's probabaly the only way we survived.
It was a lot of fun, especially since I -knew- we were all going to die without the main cleric there. Had the claws =(
We know he has high MR...but nothing a bunch of good tanks cant crack em for.
Mages and wizzies might be worthless...
I would go for bards with AoE battle spells and chanters for speed and maybe being able to mez the mobs back up healers and clerics for healing of course. I would take 2 45 tanks the others atleast 35 to 40 and you might need another healer reconmended for safetys sake.
For a level 38 that is prolly underconed... I bet he falls like all the rest
I agree on the fact the can be worth less from time to time. but all depends on WHO is controlling the caster. I am a mage, and I am not twinked (main char) but still I last quite long. My brother is a pally and he reather has me around then other mages or casters, why? I know my mage and now how to abuse her skills and bend the rules in a figur of speaking.
So don't call a class useless it all depends on the player controlling the PC. in overall classes are nicely balanced
No, Wizards or Casters aren't worthless when it comes to this guy. I went down on an 8 person guild raid (Levels ranging from 30-52). We easily took him out, and my Wizard (level 34) was able to cast Ice Shock (306DD) on AoF x2 with NO resists (or partial resists)
Easy as cake. Dropped a Mithril Amulet (Vendor Candy) & BTC
Took him down pretty easy. Just remember to pull him to the room at the top of the ramp else he has 2 healers working on him. Spells used, 49 pet, Bond of death, Ebolt and Deflux. Dropped claws :(
Any clue on a well balenced group taking him? (dumb question but I care? ) Any way you think me (30 war hits for 80-90 un buffed) ya sucks so what? earthen blade kicks a$$ speacily when the haste procs ! but any way u thinka 30 war 35 cleric 37 nec 34 enchy 36 druid 32 pally 34 SK 33 druid 35 nec 34 mage 32 wiz and a 38 sham could take em? jus curious we all wanna pop him a few if BP drops mabey that 18 rogue can get it :D
this guy agroes from sight so good luck getting the pet to take the HT as soon as you see him he his on you killed him 3 times with my monk buddy me 50 SK, friend 47 monk, we whooped him good dooming darkness and fear then dots and hack at him pretty easy droped the BP once and claws 2 times
Hey, I'm working on setting up a guild raid in Cazic Thule. Our raid is going to be for L30-40 only. Do you think a group of about 10-12 characters L 30-35 and a L40 SK could take him out? I would think that a well rounded group could drop him with out too much difficulty. Got a 34 Enchanter too... or at least i will be by the time we raid.. heheh...
how many people post here with no idea with they are talking about.

Shadowknight pets get worse as you level until you get the lvl 49 pet. This pet gets dual wield and can actually outdamage you with Strengthen Death cast on him and if you are spending time casting on the MOB.

The only way that a 49 SK pet will outdamage a 49 SK is if the sk is wielding a fishing pole, and maybe not even then. It hits for 28. I can practically hit for 28 with my bare hands bashing at 49.
no this isn't. that dude is called the avatar of war who spawns in Kael Drakkel who was killed my legacy of steel along with shock of swords on the nameless server. this guy should be a sinch if you have an enchanter in your group.. just rune the tanks and let the rune take the ht.. and if you got a pet send pets in for the ht. and a 380 HT ain't to bad.. it starts getting bad post 45. since my 47 sk's HT does 610. heh i would hate fighting a 60 sk.. like the one for the sk epic=)
