Duoing with Merc using strat
# May 07 2009 at 3:37 AM Rating: Decent
Using Heinrikk's strategy, this guy was fairly easy to duo with my tank mercenary (76 Druid 726AAs, J1 tank merc, no outside buffs or help).

First off I killed his two 'nervous guardians', fairly easy mobs, not too much harder than the regular mobs around the place. After this the Lightning Lord became active, I burned him down to about 30% when he summoned his last add then evacced. Came back, and as previously stated, the adds do not assist him other than healing him to full whenever he gets too low.

3 of the assistant adds down and I got some respawns of the regular dragorns, after the regulars were down I was really low on mana so I evacced and came back again, he was still up and so was one of his adds (presumably if you have next to no mana this would be doable via burning him down once, evaccing when the add sacrifices himself and repeating until all are dead). Burned him down the add did not sacrifice himself, and looted my shard.

Chest spawned with a nice pure caster neck with the MMM clicky on it.

The Lightning Lord was a yellow con at 76.

There was no need for the strat to work

Went in there with my 66 druid on this phase of the 2.0 and an 81 mage w/o a merc. The mage burned it down long before the adds arrived and I did not have to heal once. I would venture to say 10-15 seconds before the adds came. When they finally came around. He killed them just as fast as the boss for XP.

There is no respawn timer for different druids on this part of the quest. One group just finished him as we were going in. He respawned soon as I was in range. The other group just evaced without even opening their chest saying go for it, we have no need for 2.0 chest loots.
My chest spawned https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=38116 congrats to my 52 ranger once old enough
Their chest spawned https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=31939 congrats to my 57 warrior once old enough.

Oh yeah. The mage said he was dark blue conned to him. So it was definitely higher leveled than 75.
Strat worked!

Thanks to Heinrikk's post, that strat worked beautifully. Was done with 4 toons last night. Me on my 75 druid and boxing a 72 cleric, and my husband on his 75 warrior boxing a 75 chanter. We fought the Lightning Lord in his room, as soon as he called out to the Lightning Loyalists and they spawned, we exodus'd out, ran back invis and resumed the fight. The Loyalists spawn and don't come in when you run back invis but stay outside of the room. They WILL still CH him during the fight but hey, at least they're not all beating on the group. The only glitch we had was that when the LL first called out to his loyalists, only 3 had spawned. After we ran back and resumed the fight, the 4th one did indeed spawn and came to join in the fight. All the mobs are slowable by chanter so warrior was able to tank both. None of the mobs are mezzable. Another note: if you don't re-engage soon-ish after the exodus/succor, the Lightning Lord WILL despawn. I don't know respawn time, but he wouldn't immediately respawn when the druid left the zone and returned right away. We just went back the next day and he popped again for me.

Loyalists Not Mezable

Unless we missed something, the Loyalists that spawned were not able to be mezzed. Had two 75 Chanters and they were unable to mez them.

Strat!

The best stratagy i found was to succor once the add spawn and run back invs. The adds will not aggro if you fight him in his room but they will still CH him, so space your mana.

Max hit was ~1k and his dps out put was laugable. I could keep a 10k tank (unbuffed) alive easly without slows. Me being a druid with about 9.5k mana unbuffed that is.

This can be done with 3 - 6 people easly btw!

Good luck!

Of the adds that spawn when you engage this guy, called "Lightning Loyalist", it seems a common misinterpretation of what they do.
My guild went into this fight thinking that they would Complete Heal the Lightning Lord and then depop, no big deal, only 7.5k heal. Quite incorrect.

Once he, the Lightning Lord, gets to about 2-4% one of the adds will sacrifice themselves and Perfect Heal him, restoring him back to 98%-100% hp.

Also, we had problems mezzing the adds as some were over 70, and our main enchanter (level 68) did not have the mez high enough for that level of mob.

Wanted to mention that we had a 75 chanter with us on our fight, who has all of his mez spells up to level 78. The adds couldn't be mezzed with any spell so it wasn't the level of the enchanter.

Spawns a chest after a druid looted the Rain Shard.

Contained a Chaos-Imbued Leather Bracer for us last time.
