just took down AM tonight on xev server. about 40 in raid.pulled him onto shore where the barb camp is..went to beat on his head..lol..once i looted shark,a chest popped( which was a human model that i got a pick of) had arms of conflict or such.

we tried this mob with an experienced Raid group, around 60 ppl and wiped 2x. he is DEFINATELY not level 65 cause he's red to me at 68 and he hits for a ton of hp's and we only got him down a frelling 2% (yeah to 98%) and he healed back one of those. This mob is definately bugged (and oh yeah, my toon is living proof this mob see's invis).

Just saying, maybe he was bugged, maybe it was a bad patch, don't know. gl on this one

not bugged but when oow was just launched he had multiple thousand regen /tick making him appear to have millions of hp

I havent tested this out yet but I heard that if you fight AM in the water at his spawn point, his AE has a smaller range and he is a bit easier. I sure hope its true, post results if you try before I do.

Don't think water is a good idea... Just tried this, and was not able to get outta range of stun without also being out of range to heal tanks. And tanks w/o heals = dead raid. Pause between stuns is just long enough to get off a quick heal before ya start spinning again. Stun also does a fair amount of damage... 3 or 4 and a kick for 300ish ate through close to 5k hp. No extended range items, not sure if that would give enough range to be out of stun range now. Never actually saw mob for whole fight, even when I got kicked.

Does anyone know if the stun is a Line-of-sight thing? Lots of AOE's are blocked by solid objects, like the pillar behind Kim... anyone try hiding healers/casters behind that and pulling up on shore there?

25 of us Attempted this mob twice tonight (Jan 7, 2005). And the mob Con'd Red to me, and i'm L68...so mob is not L65 as indicated on this Site.

Also, His AE nuke range is Greater than 200', not the 150' range as indicated on this site.

On our first attempt we were as far back in the cubby that Jonah resides, and pulled the Shark to the edge of the land...we all got hit with his AE, and wiped.

On our second attempt, we had our main tank on the Aviak cubby, and we were on the small cubby behind that, the distance was greater than 200' and we all got hit with his AE...and wiped again.

**CAUTION**

29 Oct UPDATE (ON TEST): AM is now L73, hits for 1540s and rampages: AE stun does about 4x the damage it used to.

It seems as though this change has made it to all of the live servers unfortunately. Heads up fellow shaman.

He also has a second effect now too. I think it was some sort of snare. He seems to have a huge regen ability as well.

I don't think a couple groups of casual players is taking this guy down in his current form, unless there is some "strategy" that you have to use (like with Bone Cracker ).

It appears that Kimm Mcshannel disappears after you turn in the lustrous seaweed. We just kill Ancient Megalodon 3 times in about 5 min for 3 shamans, me being one of them. One shaman turned in the seaweed and I ported my berserker out and I went to hand in and she was gone. So thats that. Hope it helps.

just dropped by one group: 70 SHM, 59 WAR, 56 ROG, 68 CLR, 64 RNG and 65 NEC (me). shaman used pet to pull him to Kimm, warrior got agro and went to town. ranger hammered arrows and i dotted, put blood of thule, funeral pyre and saryrns kiss on. didn't resist any until around 20% when it resisted funeral pyre a few times. sitting stops the spinning but not the stun. fight lasted about 1.5 mins. cleric was OOM because i forgot to twitch.

It's easier if you pull him to the penninsula (with the aviak tower on it) opposite the cove. He doesn't see invis, so the shaman spawning him can invis and run back before the shark is pulled. Have all melee onthe penninsula and all casters on the shore behind them. Casters are in casting range but out of AE range this way. Piece of cake.

Ok. So. Two guildies and I came VERY close to trioing this thing. We had a 64 BL, a 65 Necro, and a 65 Shaman. The vertical range of the AE isn't nearly so big as the width of it. We fought it in the water and stayed just on the EDGE of casting range. We sent the pets in, and dotted/slowed/nuked the thing while healing our pets. NONE of us were hit by the AE. The necro's pet died first, so the bl pet took over while the necro resummoned. The bl , unfortunately, didn't have his summon spell up, so when the necro pet went down again, we were left to our own devices. HOWEVER, we did get him down to 50% without ever seeing the spinning proc, and I'm pretty sure that if we could have gotten the pet cycle going we would have taken him down with 3 people. However, a guild came in after we wiped and let us join them for their kills, so I didn't get to test the theory. Someone let me know if this works?

Done this twice now. Won first time and lost second. What makes this mob tough is the AE (obviously). Avoiding that will pretty much guarantee a win.

We pulled him to the hermit hut and fought there. Healers stayed back near the pillar. But this was still in AE range. This was OK on the first run but got us on the second. Both times we had a decent group that should have been able to do it.

Some things that I'd like to test and am throwing out for you guys:

1) The mob doesn't see invis so the Shaman can spawn and run back to the group if you don't want to fight in the cove.

2) It can be pulled up on land, so someone can aggro and pull up. Then 2nd person with lev can tag and pull to other part of zone.

3) We don't know yet if the AE can be blocked by walls. Would be really nice if it was. :)

Was thinking that the group could setup near the Arena zone entrance and the shaman and a puller or 2 could go to the cove. Shaman could spawn and run back just ahead of the pullers doing their job. Engage would be in a spot with more space and a convenient zone where the group can escape if needed. If we are lucky the healers can be in the tunnel and not get the AE at all.

No idea if it would work. But at the least fighting wouldn't be in that cove which doesn't have much room for moving around.

Another addition. If you have a group here that can do this mob and have multiple shaman that need the seaweed you can spawn it multiple times. The NPC will only despawn after the seaweed is turned in.

So, have the shaman that needs the seaweed spawn the shark as many times as is needed for all the shaman. Only one can do a turn-in, but the others can come back at their leisure to complete the turn-in later without having to grab an entire group again.

He pops in the far bottom left corner of the zone. There is a madman spawn Jonah Brucker in a tent next to Kimm McShannel located at -941, +2417. We did it with a 67clr, 66mage, 66pal, 66shm, and a 65monk (we do not have our Oow spells yet). The monk died on pull but we ended up killing it anyway. Was a few min fight with the stuns. Had a GOOD cleric or would have died otherwise. Fire nukes did not stick but magic hit well. Was slowable. Enraged at like 10 percentish. I was spinning at the time and didnt look too closely at the percent remaining. Oh by the way, he spawns in the deep water in front of pier but CAN BE PULLED ON LAND. We fought him up by Kimm.

Hits for just under 800 (on a rog for a tank).
Casts his AE a LOT its a Stun+whirlwind. Summons.
Is DarkBlue to 66.
Took him down with 2 67Dru, 2 67Mag, 2 66Shm, 1 67Rog. Almost wiped, DS finished him off.

We almost wipped because we weren't prepared, if we were to do it again it would be a lot easier. Mage pet tanking works well (only buffed with dru/shm buffs). So lots of DPS and healing, he'll die NP.

This is discouraging to hear :(

So they changed the mob completely during one of these last patches? Red to a 69 and hitting at 1500+ is completely different than blue at 66 and hitting 500-800.

That bites.

we tryed him with a 65 Shaman 65 warrior 65 druid and got our self wiped fast LOL. well next I know to bring more help. he casts a nasty whirlpool took me a min to cast slow.

Hey, We attempted this guy this morning. He conned white to lvl 65 necro. Our tanks were, 62 Ranger, and 57 Ranger. 65 Necro, 55 Cleric, 57 Shammy... needless to say we died. Didn't even touch him. He starts off with an AE "whirlpool" spins ya like crazy does some damage and makes you sit after you stop spinning. He hit the 62 ranger for 500's. 1200 AC, no virtue. Doesn't seem to tough if ya actually have a well put together group and can figure out how to handle that AE.

This mob is a part of the new shaman epic from the OoW expansion.

He is spawned when a epic 1.0 shaman says "I am up to it" to Kimm McShannel in Lake Rathetear after speaking with the Elder Spirit in North Freeport.
