These aren't 51
# Dec 20 2006 at 8:47 AM Rating: Decent
I solo in PoN all the time, and these are never 51. The Ravenous Nightstalkers are allways 51, and those are LB to me at 57. Furthermore, these can be over level 55, because some cannot be charmed with Boltran's and that charms mobs up to 55.

I suspect these are always 52+ and maybe even 53+. I'll know more when I decide to level (under the new AA system, it seems like it makes sense to grind the AAs early, when they come easier and level when necessary to get more AAs.....assuming you have no pressing need to hit max level ASAP).

Can a 55 mage solo these?
# Aug 12 2005 at 3:54 PM Rating: Decent
Hello=) I am a 55magician and was wondering if these guys are soloable, and if so, does anyone have a strategy for me?
Solo

These are an easy solo for a lvl 53 necromancer. Just aggro kite them and be careful of adds.
agro
# Feb 29 2004 at 9:35 PM Rating: Good
these have very funny agro.

normally (on trees and spiders and such) i malosi to pull and necro casts snare-dot, it agros on him and i wait then sic water pet in about 95% or so and from there on it goes well. with ravens, i pull with malosi, he casts his darkness spell, it goes after him a bit hten turns on me. i wait until like 85% to send pet in, about half way through the fight it agros on pet out of the blue. even when i back pet off and bring him to me it continues to chase him. most of the time if i can peel pet off i end up letting pet kite him around. very odd.
kiting
# Feb 05 2004 at 1:26 AM Rating: Default
also works well with bard kiting. let bard get this (or another non-summoning mob in the zone) and kite it around while folks nuke the hell out of it and pets beating on it. wait till bard has it about 85% then rock away. good when you lack a tank/healer/both and you wanna grind.
RE: kiting
# Aug 06 2004 at 10:42 PM Rating: Decent
The two necros have tried letting a bard kite but ran into two problems:

1) Bards like to kite in large cleared areas - out of spell range.

2) I can "send in the pets" (with taunt off) ok, but my first spell will grab the aggro of that mob and I end up soloing it.
Pet-Kiting

I am a 58 druid, and I got about 3.5 yellows of exp yesterday from PoN using this tactic I learned while playing a necro.

Go pull yourself a raven, use glamour of tunare to keep it charmed longer, snare and charm it, then have it sit. run out and snare a mob, any mob, and run back. While you run back, toss winged death and breath of ro on it. that should get the mob good and pissed at you, have your pet attack it, and run in a tight circle around the mob so your pet can keep attacking it. it will take a LONG time for your pet to taunt it off of you with those dots you cast, so your pet won't be getting injured for most of the fight.
then when the mob finally gets on your pet you can sit down to med. also, make sure you cast savage spirit on your pet. give it every advantage. it sounds bad since you're not medding alot of the time, but with kei up you're still getting some mana back, and it's actually better in the long run than the mana you'd put out trying to heal your bird with tunare's renewal.
It's alot easier than you may think too. I started it just to experiment and ended up getting sickly exp. I suggest it.

Best way to keep up aggro in aggro-kiting for a Druid is using Flame Lick. You may be skeptical, but trust me it works, I use snare and Flame Lick in PoV OC camp when aggro kiting, and no one ever pulls anything off me. Plus, it saves you mana because it is a level 1 spell.
Easy to solo and use to charm

I charm these little buggers all the time with my 57 Druid jus hide to kill charm when pets low and dot kite 'em easy exp char kiteing but might have a prob getting anther pet if yer in a non-Raven area hehe , these guys will SOMEtimes drop items listed above but its never garanteed like the trees drop Dark age of power or what ever they are

Nice xp when duo
# Jan 25 2003 at 12:20 PM Rating: Default
Ok, so like yesterday I duo'ed with an even enchanter. The chanter charmed after I had snared the mob (spiders are the best to charm imo), I pulled a tree/bat/bird with snare and the chanter slowed the mob and of course :P he hasted his charmed spider. After 3 hours doing this we had got like 50% xp!!! It was very awesome, and of course we did the same the next day :)
solo exp?
# Jan 23 2003 at 9:22 PM Rating: Decent
how is the exp at 54 or 55 solo'ing these guys? is root/dot'ing better than quading or is it charm kiting that is really the good exp?
RE: solo exp?
# Jun 29 2003 at 3:18 PM Rating: Decent
Dont plan on quadding these for awhile, they have about 10k hp..would take more then the mana you have
RE: solo exp?
# Feb 21 2003 at 8:03 PM Rating: Good
These give great xps, but for enc/drds, they make great pets. They can take out a spider, treant, blood raven, or nightstalker so much quicker than root/dot or kite. In addition, the mana use for charm is much lower than for root/dot. Hasted, the blood ravens put out 2-3 attacks per round doing 262 pts of damage each. Some of the blood ravens can't be charmed by the 50's lvl charms, but you can root/dot them.
RE: solo exp?
# Jan 26 2003 at 5:35 AM Rating: Good
Well, with yer post i assume yer a druid. Root/Dot works just fine to kill when u arent fighting summoning monsters...But if you could get yer hands on a nice pet using Call of Karana and just memm yer complete heal (nature's touch?) and just sit back and watch him do the work then yer exp should be pretty damn good. The problem yer gonna have is youll be fighting mobs not much lower in level then yerself and so Call is gonna break like every 20 seconds to a minute and it costs 220 mana(?) so at yer level might not be all that efficient for ya. Plus, in addition to your already hurting mana u are gonna wanna do more damage then yer pet so u get the FULL exp u deserve. all i can say is give it a shot and see how it works for you individually. I myself have np at 60.

PS: Don't forget to re-ensnare your pet when it breaks one of those times before yer 15 min run out. It's extremely gay to have a mob almost dead and then yer pet turns and runs at ya full speed while u run away from it trying to re-ensnare and charm, only to get back to your mob to see it regened hallf its health cause u went out of range. Damn that was a long PS.

Umm a while back they made it so you only have to do 1 damage, not more than your pet to get full exp out of a kill

# Jan 26 2003 at 5:44 AM Rating: Decent
Doh my bad. My roomate read me your question and i misheard him and told him what to type. It appears after seeing yer post first hand yer a bard so.....nm. But in response to your actual question now id say "Chant Kiting" wouldnt be too good for these guys. u arent gonna find enough of them to be worth yer time. Try nightstalkers or anything that doesnt summon and has a static spawn camp so u can just grab the whole bunch of em'.....and don't get a bug up yer *** when a druid comes by and takes one of the stalkers as a pet. It seems bards are getting pissier every day.
Can they be DoT/Rooted?
# Dec 06 2002 at 7:23 PM Rating: Decent
While Im waiting around to get a group in PoN, I see them near the zone and wondered if a druid could DoT Root them with ease?

Being a druid without my CH I never get groups and deperately need xp to get there...
RE: Can they be DoT/Rooted?

Yes, they can be root/dotted - did it easily with my 54 Dru - Dont summon or cast, and have fairly low hps. Some can be charmed but its risky.

level range
# Dec 04 2002 at 2:51 PM Rating: Decent
The level range on these is 52-53 or perhaps 51-53.

About 75% of them can be charmed with Call of Karana which caps at 52. About 25% give the too high level message.

These are animals and most are fear kiteable by a ranger except the ones that are 55.

Had one add when we were fighting a gnarled tree-thing today... chanter mezzed it and the message came up, but it continued to beat on the cleric until he died. Immediately afterwards with no attempt to remez, it acted as though it was mezzed all along... very bizarre.

Got a necro only range type item with a level 4 focus effect on it off one of these. (Haste of some type...not melee haste). The mobs on the "first level" in this zone hit of 200. 230's even. They are generally slowable. I was told many mobs see invis. so you can't easily scout around.
