Crap Drop
# Jun 14 2003 at 11:47 AM Rating: Default
The power of the mobs in this zone is substantial. I can't believe this armor would even be considered on the drop list. As a shaman your are way up on the hate list for mobs and your going to get hit. AC / HP is king at any level but by the time you can actually hunt here you will need every solid piece of equipment you can lay your hands on. This armor would not be fit for my first pet. I don't agree that this is crap. It's not great, but if you think of it as the fine steel of UP, it's a very nice drop. Clearly it's not meant for the levels who can get it, but it's very nice for selling in the bazaar. On 7th Hammer, I see this selling for 1-2k in the Bazaar, and it WILL be bought by a mid-level who wants the mana and the WIS.

If it were nodrop, THEN it would be crap, but I consider this item no different than a gem, and gems are NOT crap.
RE: Crap Drop

It most certainly NOT BE bought by a mid-level as it's requirement is 50 or higher.

I'd say this is pretty much crap. It has a rec level of 50. If it had NO rec level, then it might be nice for lower level characters.
gotta be something this is better than

is barely an upgrade to:

Acrylia Studded Tunic

AC: +11 Str: +8 Dex: +12 Wis: +8
Weight: 0.7
Classes: Beastlord Ranger Shaman Druid Cleric Paladin Shadowknight Bard Monk Rogue Warrior
Races: All Races
Inventory Slot: Chest

Arguably - a downgrade.
Shaman shafted
# Oct 11 2002 at 5:06 PM Rating: Default
I have to agree Shaman have been shafted with this armor. Clerics shouldn't complain they have Moktor but this is pure crap for shaman. I was hoping the legs would be decent but are not.
/gasp

Pure gheyness, not even something I'd give to my pet.

Better luck farming Unrest for bs bp, talk about risk vs reward.
Poop loot :(

This armor sucks. Compared to the other class armor that drops here, this stuff is pure crap. I try not to have any negative comments, but this armor was very dissappointing.
#REDACTED, Posted: Mar 08 2002 at 7:15 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I read this thread about enlarging Mana Pools, etc for casters. And all I can say is, what do you want? Do you want dual wield, and maybe parry. WTF are you playing a caster then? Say what you want. I personally am happy with things that let me do my job more efficiently. IE new Mana regen items, Normal Regen Items, new spells, Better Resist gear.
Anyone have some banded?
# Feb 22 2002 at 8:41 AM Rating: Decent
All I know is that from playing a shaman, this BP is near the bottom of the list. I would barely even twink a character with this, much less use it at my level. My rune-etched breastplate has almost twice the AC, more than twice the wisdom, and ten times the amount of stamina.
And for the guy that said clerics or shamans shouldn't be taking hits and don't need AC, you are wrong. Every since 51 I am forced to tank for a few seconds if I want to land slow, and with relatively high AC, I can do it. In higher end zones where you are the main slower, I have heard that AC becomes more important to shamans than the wisdom.
Yah
# Apr 29 2002 at 11:24 AM Rating: Default
AC is crucial to a shaman. Turgurs is one of the worst aggro spells ever, and especially if resisted, you're going to take a beating and fast, and often your amount of AC will determine the outcome.

Also, don't forget shamans are masters at solo. As an oracle, I've soloed many 51+ mobs, and with Yeldema for example (level 53ish dragon in ww), I tanked the whole time when she can double for as much as 219, so it does help if you miss a couple rounds :)
Druid Luclin Equipment
# Feb 07 2002 at 12:46 PM Rating: Excellent
First off, this is about a cleric/shaman piece of armor, so why all the druid posts? secondly, since there are a lot of druid posts, for all you druids out there that are whining about the equipment...where have you been? Ive scanned through these pages daily to get the low down on new equip to look into, and WOW, is all i can say. There is soooo much good equipment out there for us druids, its insane. So for any druid, (im a druid myself here), that thinks we got the shaft, then your obviously blind.

(edit) Btw, i didnt mean just this post, just a lot of the other posts where the greedy druids been posting bout all the stuff they want and cant have.

RE: AC?

My AC is 1226. As a cleric, it helps me live long enough to DA/DB when I get tagged by the bad guys.

Not so....clerics and shaman OFTEN take a few hits after landing a good heal or slow, it's just a matter of timing, and having a group good enuff to keep them off you. I say this out of observation of shaman, but out of experiance of being a cleric. My UNBUFFED ac is now 979 with my cleric, with also affords me taking a few hits instead of watching my chanter buckle on a multi pull.

As a shaman, I often take a few hits after I land slows, or a lot of hits after a slow resist (not only is the critter angrier but it's also not slowed). Against bigger critters, it is very important that I don't die while trying to slow. I value AC as much as WIS and resists (PvP server).

Anyway, this BP has less worse stats than PoH shaman BP in every respect besides the STR...everything else is less (9STA > 2STA + 20hp). I hope this SS was by someone below 50 ;p

Would be nice if it was, but alas.. The stats that are knocked when under recommended level show in red with the REAL stat in ()'s right after it.
#REDACTED, Posted: Feb 06 2002 at 11:27 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) wow this aint to good of a bp. And a recommended level of 50 HAH! bronze has a higher ac than this ... ewwwww
#REDACTED, Posted: Feb 06 2002 at 8:27 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Well I think it stinks that druids are left out of this Bp. The think I have seen lately is pure casters are getting great melee weapons when I would rather see the shammy meleeing on a mob and clerics still healing, druids could if they wanted to I guess. But my point in this post was to say that the casters are getting a whole lot of great items and the clerics shamans and druids are getting fewer items. I have seen a shammy and druid only weapon not sure on the cleric but so far I have seen more shammy and cleric and pure caster items from the uber zones and loot areas. So I made my point.

Ok, let me go back a few years in reference here.

Kunark era: new quests and drops come out. Elder spiritist gear shows up, so does Jaundiced bone and Donals. (along with a slew of other stuff with nice R-clickable effects ) Casters get nothing... minor trinkets that summon water, or an ultra-rare wand that procs a 35 pt DD.

Velious Era: New Kael and Thrug armors. Ry gorr and Ulthork hide armors. New shields and commonly dropped velium weapons are now the standard for every level 4 twink in Qeynos. Among the armors are R-clickable DS on a cloak of THorns, other neat effects on Melee-based gear and very poor improvements on caster-gear. The most casters can hope for is marginally better saves and a larger mana pool to use on the higher HP rampaging Uber-mobs.

Luclin: New improvements all around. However, casters are still getting little more than an enlarged mana pool.

Let me tell ya, the last time I meleed, I almost died from the ripostes of a giant who was fleeing at the time. Damage/Delay means little or nothing to a caster. If a caster is fighting melee it either means they are just fooling around to raise their skill, OR something has gone horibly wrong and they will die as soon as they are noticed.

Well, all the new spells seem to have COMPLETELY overlooked the warriors and rogues and monks... oh wait, that's right, equip is all they get... huh.

There are a lot of nice items out there for all classes (granted, would love it if I could convince them to put in more shammie stuff... wouldn't argue anyway, but then EVERYONE would play one.. .ugh. nm.)

One point you have omitted is the number of new Flowing Thought and +Meditate % items that have arrived on the scene with SoL. This basically amounts to Caster haste, wouldn't you agree?
RE: One point

Actually mcoolidge...

It really just equates to more mana.
FT is a low amount of extra mana in the pool, quicker medding is not the problem for casters. Cap is at 15 FT, and it all stacks now, even with itself, like FT1 can stack with another FT1. So at most, its like a level 30 enchanter clarity, which is not bad at all, but it is still just more mana in the pool
And the meditate mod things are the same really, except that since meditate's hard cap is 252(or 255, not positive), and the soft cap is also at 252 once your 50+, and the meditate mod items cannot exceed hard caps. However, the AA points do manage to cover up some of those much needed caster skills, but far too little, far too late.
What there should be, is items that increase the skills of casters like they do for tanks. Like something that makes all your spells cast faster, or get lower resists. It is rumored that Verant may implement some sorts of "focus" items, that will do exactly that, but I had heard they were coming in with Luclin, and they didnt, so maybe they won't, not sure.

The druid armor that drops in Umbral Planes is better than SS and Thurg quest armor, and highly comparable to the kael armor. Get some lvls thx~ ^_^

On a side not I am aware that the druids have a line of armor that is some what better but it is no drop and lore and all that plus that recommended lvl thing.

Just a bit of FYI friend, the Chestplate of the Constant, the cleric quest BP from the Sol Ro armor is actually better than this in my opinion. It doesnt have the stats that this one does, but by the time you are 50, if this is an upgrade for a cleric, they really need help with thier armor. Lots of classes are taking a shaft in the armor dropping here.
