Shadows of LuclinThe higher level's in my young have been using UP as their place to level. After dinging 42, they invited me over for some fun. Upon doing some research so i was knowledgable of where i was hunting, i saw the moktor armor as one of the drops her, and i wanted it.
Ok, ill cut to the chase. Whenever we group here, the others in our group, as well as others within the zone, always claim this is great CLERIC gear. Now, no offence to Clerics, this is good armor for them, but it seems to me this is great PALADIN gear. The str,sta, and the small wis makes it seem perfect for us defensive-specialist warriors. WHY do people claim this is cleric stuff? just curious

The reason it would be great cleric gear is because of the ac, wis, sta, and the str is an added bonus; not all clerics just sit around and heal.
The cleric that i group with in up actually does about 1/4 of dmg to the mob, but then again it's usually just the cleric, a chanter and a monk

As Far as Aggro, We had a 54 Pally tanking..never lost aggro once...only to the shamman upon slow, but quickly recovered aggro. Cleric never got touched...could even sit after heals.
Guess some just do better at holding aggro /shrug

That is because paladins and shadow knights rule at aggro management. No offense to warriors, but verant must not really want them to hold aggro that badly because as a lvl 63 ench I get aggro almost every single time there is a warrior as MA. But if there is a paladin ro SK as MA I NEVER get aggro. Go figure.
50pal,60 dru,55 cle,54 ranger,54 paladin,and a few leaving and coming over 6 hours and 30 min had 2 moktor drops(helm and gloves)a haste belt from shadowy assasin and a dark steel long and short sword.there were also various gems and galorian flesh that dropped.
I was fortunate enough to have received one last night. Clerics can wear this item too.

Btw.. bards can wear this... I have one on my head and im a bard heh.. might want to edit this item to include bard wearable

Did Umbral last night at the zone with just one group, 54 warrior 54 Shadow Knight 54 shaman and a 55 shaman with a 54 druid. No cleric needed we bonked Moktor for a few hours without any problems although damage output was a little light. I tanked with 900 ac without a hitch. I'm sure a well formed group of 51's could do this in just one group, but it would take a long time to kill the mobs making it unworthy of your time more then likely. Just my thoughts
The key to getting drops from this zone is taking your guild here for exp groups. Kinda like a exp-raid day. We took about 3 groups here to kill stuff for exp, and to work together at killing named if they poped. When the mobs are dying more often your chances of drops increase. We had several drops in about 2 hours. Mobs here enrage, summon, hit for up to 200, so its kinda like a plane raid imho, it takes a few groups.

Camped the zone in for 7.5 hours last week and saw the following drops:
Moktor Helm (gratz Kat! )
Bard/Rogue Boots
Bard/Rogue Helm
and some piece of sh*t sword that dropped.
besides that, we got tons of gems (the Luclin stuff)
Good fights with the DAs that always show up, but risk vs reward needs tuned a bit or else I'm afraid Verant will have just another empty zone on their hands before long.

Well you can camp these at the zone in from Maiden. As far as this stuff being common...well we camoed there for 4 hours and not one piece of this armor dropped. We had 3 strong groupos and were dropping them fast. We did get some lvl recommended stuff that wasn't very nice...and the exp suxurs! I was in the exp group and we we're getting not much of anything for our efforts. Aggro on the mobs here is HUGE! We had a lvl 60 monk pulling, and he said that the aggro reminded him of FEAR. The armor is very nice, but I have had better luck with drops in the KD Areana than in here.
We only worked the zone in area, so I am not sure if there is a particular area in zone that has a better drop rate.

Aggro in this zone very much depends on which mob is being aggroed. Pulling with my 61 warrior I either have to tag or be darned near right on top of Moktors and Netherbians before I can get aggro. When pulling Moktors at the ME zone I can get single pulls with bow and arrow from Moktors that are almost right next to each other.
Dark Assassins seem to aggro from a pretty fair distance most of the time.

What the hell is that 'recommended level' thing?
Questions would be:
"Do you have to be exactly level 50, or can you be higher?"
"Is there any benefit for being level 50 while wearing this helm? (If so, what?)"

Does anyone have an approximate loc in Umbral
Plains where the Gantru can be hunted for this
nice Armor?

my guild went in to Umbral Plains with the following 2 groups
Group 1
55 Warrior : planar/cobalt armor mix
55 ranger : both epics, Tolan's/planar mix
56 cleric : full planar armor
53 warrior: mix planar/quest armor
57 wizard : planar/quest equipment
56 enchanter
55 druid: epic,planar,Kunark,quest mix armor
53wiz :planar,quest equip
54 cleric : full planar armor
53 warrior : planar,quest armor
55enchanter
54 ranger : mix tolans/quest armor
2 very strong groups there, we had LOTS of trouble keeping the mobs off the clerics.didnt matter how much agro the tanks had established, as soon as the cleric ripped off a CH, they forgot all about us and went straight to the clerics.I definitley say NO to taking a single group of around 51 here,thats just plain suicide IMO.

You had too many casters... I take one group.
58 bard(i can slow enuf to replace a chanter/shaman) prefer to have a chanter/shaman tho :)

Dump the Warriors. You need Paladins and SKs.

Me (61 sk) 60 chanty 51 cleric came to do some moktors the other day both had hasted pets up and it took the chanty slow + tash + (the mega taunter) cripple to get the guys onto him so his pet would start beating them, yeah it 4-6 min fights for regular moktors, but if ya keep em even halfway turned away from pets yer fine.. We killed about 20 of em and 1 raldu, the cleric walked away the hat i usually got a complete heal at halfway and after death per moktor. nothing special as far as ac 1200 ac 3500 hps. Rages are nothing special, doesnt hit hard at all particularly if you have spent some time in pop (owwww those pon guards hit hard im still bruised) pullin at 61 i had to work real hard to get 2 moktors, assassins on the other hand are very very social, i know because after i pulled 1 and wound up with 3 backstabbing me i FDed and one turned to the other two and said, "so i tells maybell, i says..."
An SK would help, or any decent 56+ level tank. That mix you gave was very low on the MA side of things.
I've only been there once, but I believe they can be pulled from near the Maiden's Eye zoneline. A single group could get thru ME w/ invis but I think 51's would have a hard time fighting in Umbral
