Does anyone know what the tunic drops off of? I check the bestiary for PoG and couldn't find which mob it was. Also, how bad is it to totally wipe your faction with Tunare?
well got my tunic this way...logged on and my freind sent tell said i had 27 min that is was rotting..shouted paying 100pp for port to WL..ran in aggro half on WL as soon as izone in get aggro by the whirling vortex and a gale wolf short time later...had 20 min at this itme..ran for 5 min til i lost aggro and made it with 12 min ot spare..many thx to thundark on tunare server for the kill and ebnuszen for the tell=)..hehe takes a little luck sometimes)
i have lvl 56 beastlord myself, with ac of 986, beat that...beasties having bad ac, thats ******** if you ask me, and we can deal ok damage with pet and so, just get good weps and ur about good as any other melee class
Lets break this down some for ya. AC: +16 : less damage recieved Str: +5 : More damage dealt out Sta: +6 increased Hitpoints (especially at higher levels/able to take an extra blow while pet is dealing damage) Agi: +5 : Recieve less damage from a blow (shift force of blow so you do not take as much damage)/Increase chance of connecting for maximum damage on swing. Wis: +5 :possibly a saving bit of mana for a heal or sow (you choose, do ya run and die lost, or stand and have an idea where to loot your rotting corpse) Resists (need I say more? Magic Resist: +2 Fire Resist: +2 Cold Resist: +2 Poison Resist: +2 Disease Resist: +2) HP: +50 :ability to take another swing before ya panic and let yourself get killed Mana: +90 : if ya could not find an extra heal or sow before here it is.
Effect: Bramblecoat Classes: Druid level 29 Ranger level 39 Description: 2: Increase Armor Class (AC) from 17 (L29) to 19 (L34) (less damage recieved) 3: Damage Shield by 3 (L29) (more damage dealt to mob whenever it contacts you)
Yes, I play a beastlord (currently lvl 41) on Cazic-Thule. I am more than willing to admit our ac is not nearly as good as it could be, but we are roughly the same constitution of a druid amongst the hybrid class, our plus side is our pets can solo mobs that are three to four levels above them, if properly buffed prior to battle.
I solo my beastlord. Why? because I can, and it is easy. Often I get people that just want to jump in to a group for the pure xp. More often than not I defer from grouping, as it is enough for me to play shaman/tank/and vetrenarian(for pet).
This class is an awesome class to play, especially if you enjoy the strategy of learning to play it well, every spell level I play this character, I am more and more amazed at what it can do.
So what we do not get the best stats on armor in the game, if you want stats on armor, create a warrior/monk/ranger/paladin/cleric/enchanter/mage/wizard/... etc,,,etc so on and so forth.
But, I will tell you a secret, the loser that is whining about this class's armor stats, will while about the next class he plays too.
Well, thats my 2cp. Pongu Jangie lvl 52 cavalier Splatkat Taktalps lvl 41 beastlord Fonaddar Leafstalker lvl 47 druid All on cazic thule, look me up, will be glad to show you rinse and repeat soloing.
What i find odd is that Tree Weave has better AC than this and its not Plane armor (BW at level 45+). PSC (Phase Spider) if you can snag it, is non plane and probably one of the best non no drop Bst armors available, besides Ancient Wyvern (also non plane). I would have to think long and hard before i give up 9 ac and 5 Str for this over Tree Weave, even with the nice stats and effect.
VI needs to go back and redo the planes drops for not only Bst/Monk but alot of other classes....seriously.
As to the comments that Bst cannot melee or tank effectively, i have done both on several occasions with no great hardship. Of course they are not going to be as good as true tanks/monks when it comes to out damaging or tanking because of the aforementioned lack of Double Attack.
However if you consider the damage done by you and your pet combined (including spells), it has the potential to give tanks a serious run for their money. The problem is not so much that Bst cannot out damage but more on AC/Armor restrictions and lower HPs on the Beastlord than anything else when compared to tank classes imho.
The Bst class is a pet class yes, but it is more of a team effort between you and your pet. The general tactic for Bst is to buff up themselves and pet, have both attack at the beginning then the Bst fades back to cast while pet does its thing, the Bst then jumps back in and attacks, wash and repete.
umm, you dont have to give up any Bp for it, yes PSC is best droppable BP for Bst's, why not just use effect off this and whatever BP you like, not hard to figure out guys, BTW Wistful Tunic of the Void is saweeet
Agreed beastlords are not intended to out damage any melee. Yes we can hold our own in a group with a good tank. Even meleeing with your pet beside you you still will not outdamage a warrior, monk, ranger, or a rogue. Beasty pet misses alot and the Beastlord itself does not have double attack. But it does help to get some of the nicer drops that we can use cause it does make us better. Monks are always complaining cause they have to share loot now. Well join the rest of the crowd. Surely you did not think it would last forever. Beastlords with good ratio weapons and good haste still will not outdamage a non twink melee but it helps us out alot when we have to tank for our pets or aggro turns on us. Beastlord class is not a easy class to play if it was we would have the high ac like a warrior and be a punching bag. It is called strategy people stop whining and play the game. If you do not like the class use as a mule. Peace out

Posted:Apr 28 2002 at 3:21 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I don't know what you people are talking about beastlords aren't tanks. A beastlord's job is to out put as much damage as you can and try to stay alive. If we were meant to be tanks our block would cap out at like 125 below level 50. You obviously haven't played a beastlord very long, or very well if you think you are supposed to be a tank. We have less hp and ac than monks our main source of damage is our pet. At higher levels its mainly fight when you can and keep your pet alive or your SoL (that doesn't mean shadows of luclin). If you think your a tank you'll find yourself on numerous corpse runs. And another thing if we were tanks don't you think we'd have taunt? Have you no common sense? If we were meant to keep taunt we'd have double attack and TAUNT. We aren't tanks, we have the lowest hp/ac of the melee classes, our pets are our strength. A beastlord won't be out damageing a monk and he sure as hell won't out damage a rogue who can keep the mobs back. Our main merit in a group is spiritual purity heh (group clarity that stacks with c3 gives some regen too) and of course the damage out put of our pets. Pets aren't designed to out damage a monk thats why they are lower levels and miss a hell of a lot more. Learn to play your class before petty squabbling about not having enough ac. If you don't have enough ac DON'T TANK! /sigh
In case you didnt know, rangers do a lot more dmg than warriors. So saying you do just under the dmg of a warrior but equal to the dmg of a ranger is all wrong. The dmg table goes like this for different classes, Rogue, Monk (not sure if rogue or monk is first), then Ranger. Warriors are for taunting and taking hits, then some good dmg, but pure dmg comes from the above 3 classes. Might help to learn that before you talk about it.
In terms of who does more damage, you have to define the situation... is it in a group environment or as a solo fight? If in a group (and the overall damage that can be performed) it's rogue first, then monk. Can't remember the post VI put out there on their message board but their stated intent was for the Rogue to be the highest damage dealing class out there (please - No Wizzies chiming in with 'Yeah but I did.....) with the expectation that they do so in conjunction with a suitable melee class to hold agro. I think everyone can agree that Monks will do more damage in a solo fight, but the next evolution of this question is who does more damage in a solo fight.... Rogue or Beastlord?

Let tell you other beastlords out there something I have played for 34lvl and I have never ever gotten hit not once when im in a group its not the fact im not doing damage its the fact that I do under the damage of a war and just as much as a ranger does in combat, you will never get hit if you play your cards right. And another thing I LIKE PIE!!!>:P
as im posting this i am currently a lvl 45 non twinked bst on sullon. currently solo'n kobolds in solb.
time for reality to set in on ya the reason you only get hit once or twice per fight is the tanks in group ARE better than you. your only chances of getting hit is when you slow, dot then dd your mob and that agro wont last long. you have good agi/dex being monk based and able to use their armor and that will effect dmg taken alot but you are not a main tank and you cant do dmg equal to any wars or rangers without that pet(which starts to tapper off in lvl around 35)(at 45 pet has conned light blue since 43)
i have held up my own vs mobs my lvl long enough for my pet to kill off one then take agro off me while i heal pet and med/mend myself but without pet your not gonna do much dmg without some of them nice 16 19 or 15 22 type bst h2h weps. and a haste item.
as for pvp i can handle my own decently but pet gets snared and rooted often. maybe it will be better when im 50+ with unresistable dd proc and a spell interrupt buff on it but till then i dont know. i have been able to stay alive but usually not kill pkers one on one and when i do pet get last hit and i dont get to coin. (which makes me mad, its my pet its how the game made me, my pet kills someone i want the coin).
final note you can camp/farm with the same effectiveness as a necro or a mage but take more mob damage and thas a posative

Well if anyone is making a BL to be a tank 50 + they got another thing coming. I have a 58 warrior and am currently working on a BL who is now lvl 25 soon to be lvl 50+ P.
Anyway with his 200 skill limit for offense and what ever the other limits are and the low ac he will have ..a Tank he will not be but maybe ok as a damage dealer to assist the main tank and as any one who knows anything about the high lvl game you want the agro on the Warrior and no one else maybe a Paly or a SK depending on the Mob.
I am not sure how good the BL pet will be 50 + either so i cant really comment on that aspect other then it is cool to have a helper so you can back off the mob or run ..lol
The BL get some shamy spells but sort of like how a Paly gets Clerics spells..15 lvls later and while they are usefull they are not up to the lvl of the mob/player.
Lvl 60 BL has a 40 % haste spell which is nice but hmmm lvl 60 is a long way away....
But i still like him and to beable to duel wield and command a pet is cool and I get sow at lvl 30 WOOT something my warrior never had cept for potions.
Bl spells stay extremely viable for the level till late 50's. Their buffs are not the best of the shaman line but better than nothing if you dont have one in a group. Spiritual line is invaluable, seeing as it stacks with bard song, clarity line and regen line.
BL's offense does not cap at 200. Before 50 it does, but post 50 it raises. Currently at 55 (just dinged havent had a chance to raise skills much) my skills are as follows. Offense 230 Defense 224 1h blunt 213 2h blunt 213 Piercing 213 Dual wield 230 H2h 223 kick 200 Riposte 167 Block 172 Dodge 148
As stated my skills are not currently capped with the exception I believe of 1h blunt 2h blunt and piercing.
54th pet is about 41st level or so and can tank quite well. I've not had problems yet fighting anything blue to me which most mobs in grind groups are at the moment. Since 39th I've been able to solo seafury cyclops without much difficulty and till 51 I had pretty bad equipment to be blunt. At 55 my gear could stand a lot of improvement but I have currently acted as main tank for a seb group, and can hold aggro off of the clerics and casters without much difficulty.
I cannot tank as good as war nor deal the sheer melee damage of any of the other dual wielding classes with the exception of bards who I own for melee damage. However beside my warder I can equal, and at times outdamage most melee classes I have grouped with, with the exception of rogues and monks. When I get bored I like to harrass the MT of the group by getting aggro even if just for two seconds, I can take the hits but it makes them think twice about underestimating how much damage I can do in combat. Currently I am dual wielding a sheetmetal ulak with a stave of shielding, or if tanks arent holding aggro over that I use a tae ew war maul. my only haste item is FBSS. Beastlords are a viable melee class. Not the best of tanks but certainly they can stand up their with the rest of the crowd in terms of DPS. Of course for the times when groups decide to just say "beastlord is the new class it must be bad" as they did for most the year following luclins release, I can always just go off and solo. More efficiently than most casters I might add.
55 BL 7 AA First Aid (3) Runspeed (3) Untrained (1)
I have a lvl 50 BST, I can not do as much DMG as a Tank but my pet can keep up with Warriors and Monks and some Rogues. After 50 its a trade off on what you are fight as to what your stragety is. There are times that you will be pet medic and other times that you will be tanking with the rest of them.
Although I know it may not be of any consequence to the BST out there that are looking for UBER AC planer, but you must remeber that along with a minor damage shield, when you keep yourself permanently Brambled, you will get an AC bonus from that as well. I dont remember what it is (long time since I used it) but there is absolutely an AC modifier imbedded in that buff.
also dont you know beastlords arent monks i can prove it because it says in the sol stragety guide there only monks till they get the pet then its warrior time well i see there posting high lvl nodrop beastlord stuff now but i guess its for all the people who twinked and powerlvled thier cha to lvl 52
I wish monk PoG armor was this nice. 95% of planar monk armor is under par in my oppinion. For example: Im level 48 and only want the PoG armor for the effects...A.K.A. all my armor is better already.
i understand that bst class is ment to wear leather type armor but only 16 ac come on! planar (PoG) class armor typically has awesome stats, and these do, but 16 ac is weak. whenever my beast lord comes close to a mob even if the pet has been on him for 30 or so seconds he turns straight at me and starts wailing away.
unless the beast lords natural ac starts skyrocketing, this class will be a clerics nightmare in groups, when it has aggro in the upper 40s and 50s
I think they did that becuse they didn't want Planer armor to be the biggest and badist, also they want us to stand back and heal pet, like mages just sit bake and cast nuke, our meleing makes up for the lake of spelization, and ds i would say, also slow rocks, even if it is low lvl.
