Well, I was sitting near NL fear kiting the 3 'shroom spawns there and all the sudden this fungi 'shroom pops. It conned blue to me at 31, like all the other 'shrooms did. I run up to it and snare pull it, and at first it didn't move. I thought that it was a glitch, seeing as that had happened before at the spot. But then all the sudden I was rooted! My pet chased after it and I started fear kiting as a Necro instead of an Sk using my dots, pet and fear from a distance. The root was a Druid-type root (Ensnareing roots), and it lasted a little over a minute. My pet took a severe beating too. Eventually the root wore off and I charged over to it and began beating on it with my M2H (21/30.5 after built-in haste). It died eventually, although I was surprised in the amount of times I managed to interrupt it's casting.

Well, when I clicked to loot it I had a surprise. Here was this nice 19/40 weapon, and judging from the name I thought it was 1HS. I picked it up just for that reason, seeing as my Zealot's Khukri (7/25 +3 Int, my best 1HS atm) isn't all that impressive. Well, it was 2HS as I later found out =P.

Anyway though, I was quite surprised with this turn of events. A challenging fight and a nice weapon drop -- it was almost comparable (sp?) to my present weapon. Too bad it is no-drop, lest I'd give it to someone or sell it. Still good for a Sk or Pally that isn't as learned as I am when it comes to weapons and is still using a 1HS or a subpar 2HS.

well I for one was happy to get this weapon, it rivaled my dark reaver, which i would use until it proc'ed, then switch to this. Only used this for a day or two until a kind cleric gave me a dark edged two hander.

If this is Akel's Longsword, I don't want to know how big Akel is. Looted one today with my warrior. It's not that great except for its looks.

This has the same graphic as the 'Darkedged Two Hander' that drops off one of the Shadows in the Twilight sea. They have the same Delay and Dmg Bonus, but the 'Darkedged Two Hander' has a Dmg of 23 and weighs more at 15 stone, its stats are Str 6 Int 6 Mana 20.

Damage bonus is based on character level not specifice weapon, although weapon type may play a part, not for warrior or monk from what I have seen.

For 2 Handers, damage bonus seems to depend in part on delay. Longer delay == bigger bonus.
nice weapon

Well, I have to agree with Nixoh too. My warrior has just hit 40 (finally!) and the only way i was able to get a wurmy and a (hehe) ssoy was a friend gave them to me. Well, I am buying the wurmy at a discount for him, 1k cause he has bills to pay, but the ssoy was free after he got the halloween gm sword. Had been lent before. Yes, i pass on things to my alts, but then i also give things away to friends (keep getting chewed out for it too cause I could <gasp> sell some of the stuff for plat to buy better stuff for myself. BUT, if i hadn't accidently given my icetooth claws to a level 3 bard (thought i was handing him the kodiak claws i had), I would still be using them with the ssoy for taunt value. And if I was offered the chance to get this sword, I would jump on it. So what its no drop and 2hs? Eventually I would get a chance at something better. Sides, if it looks good, would carry it around for that. It's good to earn stuff, fun to twink a bit (self AND others), both of which adds immensley (dang it! is that the right spelling?) to my fun playing eq. And that's what it's all about.

If you want a decent weap that is either cheap or easy to get, get a Blade of Xalgoz, 23dmg 40dly 3str 3agi (I believe, been so long since I had it). At level 40 you could get some lvl 50 friends to help ya go to Kaesora and kill Xalgoz, just make sure to bring a chanter.
RE: nice weapon
# Feb 28 2002 at 3:16 AM Rating: Default
You do NOT need a chanter everywhere and always. Doesn't hurt but wont. Especially in Kaesora. As long as the pullers know what to pull and how, all is well. Was there last time at weekend, party consisted of 2 warriors, 1 paladin, 1 cleric and 1 druid. We spanked Xalgoz around and all his goons with no problems at all. After big fights there were all os us standing, in good shape, and some 7-11 corpses around us. I was highest lvl there, dinged 48, lowest was lvl 42. I would have actually preferred the shaman there as 6th heh..

In any case Blade of Xalgoz is a decent one and not that hard to get, just make sure that the puller knows what to pull and how, and the rest of the team knows their roles :-)
This drops off a a fungus covered mushroom
# Dec 18 2001 at 6:00 AM Rating: Decent
To the left after zoning into Dawnshroud from Netherbian is a patch of 3 mushrooms. This is where I found this weapon. Most of the mushrooms were warrior-types, and around the level range of 33-40 or so. As a 38 Druid, most mushrooms conned blue and black, with some as low as light blue. However, out of nowhere a Druid type mushroom with the same name as some of the lower type mushroom spawned, and it conned red to me (a fungus covered mushroom). It blasted me 3 times for just over 290 damage, so I went down quickly. A few players around level 50 or so took it down for me so I could continue killing the shrooms that "I" could handle! And by the way, the loot I've seen off of the mushrooms that spawn here are Fungus Covered Mushrooms and various Jewels used for twilight quest armor (not the etched jewels though, just the regular ones). Hope this helps some.
Too bad its 2hs
# Dec 14 2001 at 11:28 AM Rating: Default
If it was 1hs, it would make a great offhand weapon for using with Wurmy. Just my 2cp.

#REDACTED, Posted: Dec 14 2001 at 11:28 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Please remember that Wurmslayers are a bit higher to attain then this. For a level 30 drop its pretty good for a nontwinked level 30. Gotta remember not everyone can twink in uberloot ;)
No Drop

No Drop guys, its not worth anything.

But I guess if a lvl 30 Pally picked it up he prolly wouldn't poof it.

This has to be one of the slowest longswords in the game. Also, since when are longswords 2hs? It's not even a weaker wurmy, since its 2hs. This is very similar to a drakkel forged ******* sword.
Yes, I am aware the info says 1hs, but look at the screenshot, its a 2hs. Guess it came off something really large, and takes 2 hands for a normal sized creature to wield.

RE: Slow longsword
# Dec 15 2001 at 12:37 AM Rating: Excellent
Not that anyone really cares, but... :P

...in historical terms, the terms long sword and ******* sword are often used interchangably..

These denote swords that were designed with a grip long enough to put about 3 fingers from you second hand unto the hilt without the hilt being too long to make it unwieldy when used with only a single hand.

Hence the other term often used to describe swords of this type - hand and a half swords..
#REDACTED, Posted: Dec 13 2001 at 6:49 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) wow for being a rare drop it sure sucks!
#REDACTED, Posted: Dec 13 2001 at 6:45 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) hey look its a crappy version of a wurmslayer!
RE: wow
# Jul 29 2002 at 11:05 AM Rating: Decent
1. not 1hs (no really)
2. if the info on where you get it is accurate it is easier to get than Wurmslayer.
RE: wow
# Dec 14 2001 at 1:08 PM Rating: Excellent
The misktaken 1HS listing asside, I find this really amusing to watch. Before Kunark, Wurmslayer would have been an unimaginably sweet weapon. Post Kunark, everyone has sort of set the "baseline good weapon" at WS.

The result is that no one remembers being a non-alt, non-twink 30th level character who would have killed to get into a group that netted something like this weapon. Remember how there was once a time when your STR/STA/AGI/DEX weren't all over 200? Remember how there was once a time when a ratio of 2.1 sounded like a dream?

Now here's a thought... those days aren't gone! There are still new players with no guild affiliation. There are servers like FV, where everyone's starting from scratch. There are newbies who think FS is hot!

Get your 31137 heads out of your ToVs and come smell the air that the rest of us breath for a bit.

Thank you Nixoh, I am glad to see that there are others out there that remember the good 'ol days that a PGT was godlike 1hs and the dream of any 2hs user was getting a Blackened Iron Broadsword. Nice to see that someone else is thinking about the enjoyment of the game for others and not just their own greed.

Yes, I agree with Tajom and Nixoh...
I remember when the SWA (Silvery War Axe: 22/6 for those of you who have never seen such a crappy wep) and a PGT or Bladed Thulian Claw were the ultimate weapons to dual weild. You were lucky if you had combine at level 15.
When it was a major game changing event to get a Skull of Jen'trah or a Runed Circlet or when enchanters were hunted down for their ability to make Jaded Electrum Bracers or a Silver Ruby Veil.
I remember people being amazed by a level 22 Warrior in FULL banded.
Hell, I had full CLOTH on my Enchanter at level 12 after being lucky enough to get a bronze weapon from an Orcish Mountaineer.

And yes, uphill, in the snow, both ways...with no shoes
