ROFL! Never expected to get a Biology lesson on AllaKhazam...sharks have always been one of my fascinations, tho, so not an unwelcome bit of trivia...thanks, for both the question, and the detailed answer...now if they'd just make this an in game drop, so my ranger could get one, sheesh...

Just wanted to inform those that this dropped in Rathe Mountains during the Halloween GM events of '01.

is this better than the lumberjack's cap? picked it up today in EK and I've been wearing it instead. It's lower AC but I like the strength bonus (bad char creation decisions left me rather weak). I'd like to hear some other opinions.

AC will always be king. You are a dmg dealer, and thus have a very good chance of drawing agro. A heavy dmg dealing ranger who dies quickly is pretty useless.
#REDACTED, Posted: Nov 02 2001 at 11:07 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) since when exactly do sharks have scales?

Your obvisouly either someone that A. Is too low to study the anatomy of sharks or B. Didnt pay attention in Zoology class.....the comment at bottom fits you perfectly BTW

no really, do sharks have scales? I thought they were more sort of rubbery skinned. open to someone telling me otherwise.

(although it would make more sense should they have scales, as I remember my biology teacher telling us all fish have scales...)

LMAO - non-game information! Well, since I'm a biologist RL you sparked my interest.

Here ya go:

Shark skin is actually covered in 'denticles' or TEETH. Yes, teeth. Typically these denticles are arranged so that they point toward the rear of the shark, and provide (in our history) enhanced hydrodynamics and a protective, strong hide. In the geologic past, sharks sported some rather gruesome enlarged denticular structures for show (attracting mates) or defense/offense. Like one ancient shark species that actually had what looked like a circular saw-blade on it's lower jaw!

Well that answered my question then :-)
