Halloween Drop

I got this off a Werewolf in West Commons last night. GM Halloween event. Nice upgrade to my thick apron.

# Mar 05 2002 at 12:38 AM Rating: Decent
There was a sweet GM event this past weekend in EK..lots of spectres (graveyard knights) wandering around. I looted this off of a knight I killed and just about woke up my friends by cheering. =) First GM event and all that I actually got something. Event was named Graveyard of the Dead. This belt certainly helps my WIS-poor druid. (My first EQ character and I had no idea what to put points into, so my base WIS is 98). I think I'm doing OK, I'm non-twinked with 163 WIS now at 39th. People tell me I'm useless because I'll never be able to quad-kite, but to them I say Bah! =) Soloing bores me, I'd rather interact with a group of people, it is much more fun.

Walk safe everyone, and if you see me, say hi =)

Hehe well i just got this girdle today at a GM Event on Bristlebane in WC. Werewolves were all over. Was lotsa fun for me since all but the Greater Werewolves were green to me, the Greater ones were dark blue. I also ended up getting the exp for killing the Werewolf Overlord (lvl 55 mob) but nothing dropped off him that I couild use. Was quite a fun event and I came out with three items. As to your wisdom problems try this on for size... I started this char with 75 wis, which is the lowest you can start with I think lol, like you this was my first char and I didn't know any better, but now at lvl 53 I have my wis at 200 finally hehe. One thing that helps me out is I keep Misty Thicket Picnics and Qeynos Afternoon Tea on me almost all the time, except during raids. I get an extra 10 wis from them. Quad kiting with low wis is quite possible I can tell you that it's just not quite as easy as it could be =). There is plenty of wis gear out there, even if some is rather hard to obtain, all it takes is some dedication and time, or in some cases just a lot of pp =P anyway this is a pretty nice mid lvl belt and I'll probably use it for a while. Obviously not an uber item but hey it was dropped off mobs that even a lvl 24 druid could've killed without too much trouble. That is if they weren't KSed geez you shoulda seen the mayhem in the zone... anyway I'm rambling gratz to everybody who managed to get one of these.

I started quad kiting Tizmaks at 34 with Lightning and a wis in the 130s. You could definately quad, so don't feel bad about that. I found I closed the 200 number with equipment in my late 40s...don't let the uebers get you down, back before all the expansions there were level 50 int casters doing vox/naggy in Green Silken Drapes.

Gear is great, but a player that is alert and knows their class is better. I'd rather group with a naked but smart cleric than an idiot in full planar gear.

Well, this should make you fell better.

My cleric has base wis of 95 (my first character, human) However, with decent gear, at lvl 51 I can get his unbuffed wis up to 240. My normal fighting gear puts him at 234 unbuffed, and maxxed out at 255 with KEI.

So don't listen to anyone who tells you you'll NEVER be able to do something because of your starting stats. Might be a little more work to get wis up there, but not too bad.

The only way you're useless is if Quad-kiting is the only thing you can do. My base wis is 100 and I put the rest into sta. It's not even remotely difficult to get over 100 wis from items, you'll even be able to swap in mana, resist and hp items.
RE: Just got this
# Jun 15 2002 at 11:54 AM Rating: Decent
Heh, the same thing happened with my druid, he was my 3rd character so I put 5 into STR and DEX and the rest into WIS. So now I have 5 less WIS. I wish there would be another GM event, but all the GM events on our server were only for comic relief. Like gnome invaders in GFay, giant named bixies, Spelling and Grammar Bees in EC, and so on. So I'm stuck with 136 WIS. For now...

Your wish has come true. The GM events have started again, Just in time for Halloween, just like last year.

This has been dropping in West Commons, and probably in East Karana too, thats where I got mine last year, and sounds like this is jst a repeat of last year, with a few better items.
Looting Perspective
# Nov 26 2001 at 7:07 PM Rating: Excellent
I got 5 very nice items and i would like a perspective from others on the how. My 50% ressing Cleric spent most of this event in EK on the bridge ressing others for donations. I did nicely in plat even tho about 40% stiffed me but some people were so grateful that when they found a cleric item they would hold in loot position and tell me. I didn't have great armour till then, but I do now. I really didn't KILL a thing, but I ressed, cured and buffed a lotta people. Did I earn these items by spending 10s of hours in there? I know my own feelings but am interested in others.
RE: Looting Perspective
# Aug 18 2002 at 3:42 PM Rating: Decent
Sure you did, killing things isn't the only way to earn loot privileges and make friends. Many Warrior-loving people I know loot everything first and take like 90% of the stuff that drops because they say they are the only ones who hurt the mob, what morons. I kicked him outta the group for that, and all he did was try to KS us by attacking our mobs, all he did really was help us kill em and he didn't hurt them enought to get the kill =) GOD I love stupid people
Finally got one after a week

My low ranked and low income 26th lvl Druid was fighting ranger style all week in EK trying to get one of these belts. Between the KS, people paying 500pp for looting rights so they didn't have to fight for one and the just plain out and out mob scene, I was lucky one of my kills finally resulted in a belt. Any announcement of a belt was immediately met with a swarm of Druids (usually 20-30 of them) all trying to loot it.

It's much nicer than what I had and I'm finally getting my wisdom up to a respectable level.

Shame on all those that got thier belt by paying for looting rights and/or KS. I earned mine by fighting.

That is a good post Jenstar, except for the last line. "Shame on all those that got their belt by paying for looting rights and/or KS. I earned mine by fighting." I agree the KS thing is a bad thing, and people mob-looting is also horrible, but if people need pp more than this belt let them sell the looting priveleges, I would. Like I said in my 'Looting Perspective' post, killing things isn't the only way to get looting rights. I am excepting a lot of flaming though, well, so be it.

Indeed. I thought was going to go batty from the zone spam. I hunted for this belt on and off for three days in EK - finally got it, but did die twice from being LD (so many people in the zone). I also got the platinum plated pearl neckace (which I'll wear eventually - have a Warden of Tunare that's hard not to wear atm). =)

I thought the event was very cool - but the spam drove me crazy. And I wish I had known about the sweet 2HB Soul Harvester that was being dropped in RM (I've always wanted to get into 2HB - oh well). =)

Druid here lucky enough to get one of these off of my own kill so i didn't have to do the mob looting thing hoping i get it first. My bro (shaman) wasn't so lucky, but i teased him for a little bit cause he fell for a scam. He got to the corpse first but by the time 3 minutes were nearly up about 10-15 peop's were there. One of them says, "Hey lets roll on it" so everybody stopped looting and that person quickly looted it, laughed at everyone, and left. Chalked it up as a lesson to be careful who you trust.

Sent every day looking fr this belt, but us shorties definitely can't oupace all the doggies tha were running for it at every call. As usual, I had to actually WORK for mine..... Picked it up off a graveyard knight aat around 6PM on the last day of the event. Worth all the time and trouble. By the time I was done with all items dropped, I had raised my Wisdom more than 25 points! Here's hoping for another event soon!

I spent 3 days looking for this belt and finally got it off of a graveyard Knight in EK. I was so happy.
Every time this was called out you would see about 20 druids in wolf form running after it. Kind of looked like a dog race for a while. "And their off..."
RE: Great Belt
# Nov 10 2001 at 8:12 AM Rating: Decent
Any druid who is capable of casting wolf form (level 24+) that wanted this belt and didn't get one because they were too lazy to try to get one by actually killing stuff only has themself to blame. The belt wasn't THAT rare of a drop in EK, and the mobs that dropped it (Graveyard Knights and Ghoullish Fiends) were only mid to high 20s in level. Easily killable by a level 24+ druid, either solo or in a group. I got 5 of them to drop, and the only items that were more common for me were the int caster book and the int caster cloak.
just got one today!

I hate to be picky, but how do you farm no-drop, lore items? If you mean they were killing greens, so what, if they were shouting the stuff they couldn't use, great. If the Halloween drops were better than what they were using, then they need one as much as you. I helped a lvl 46 cleric in my guild look for one of these belts, because it was better than the crystalline belt he was using. BTW, while he didn't get exp on all kills I did on most, and my cleric is a lvl 31.

I got the belt and it was a huge upgrade from the straw spun belt I was using.
How-to farm NO DROP
# Nov 05 2001 at 12:04 PM Rating: Decent
On the Tunare server many people were auctioning the loot rights to a given corpse. They would shout the location so everyone would come running and then accept offers of payment before they would come out of the loot window.

Even with this money hungry behavior they were sometimes beaten to the loot by ninja looters with a quick finger on the mouse. With many people standing about you can't even tell who did it as many, not only druids, were in wolf or bear form, so you don't see them kneel down.

I did happen to get one last night as I happen upon a 45 Ranger who had just killed a ghoulish fiend. I asked her what it dropped as she shouted the belt and location. I started clicking until I had it.

Very nice belt.

Here is further proof that Verant is very inconsistant. This belt has better stats than the Dreamweavorvine Garland (PoF Druid belt) dropping of of mobs that a 55 druid can kill in 1 Scoraie. Its damn frustrating to work you butt off all day for a few weeks in the Planes to see one of these, to have them drop by very low level mobs and frequently. Oh well, I guess im just a little sore because I keep getting to the event just as someone finishes the quest to make them despawn.
DISGUSTING!

To answer my own earlier question, everything in the zone drops the quest items. I saw several on plain old "large spiders" This was in EK, if it also applies to N ro and the commons, all the low levels should start killing fire beetles.

Looted one in WC today
# Nov 02 2001 at 1:45 AM Rating: Decent
Thanks to the kindness of Max from Mythrilmoon Mystics, who killed the werewolf I was tracking right in front of me, I was able to loot this. It was him, an iksar monk, and myself at the scene when the wolf with this drop went down. Since I was the priest class, I was able to loot it, yay!

I was really happy because I saw a reed belt for sale earlier today, but someone wanted 3k. I didn't have or want to spend 3k for a belt upgrade from the crystalline belt. So, this just worked out super. This belt has the same stats pretty much and a little bonus, too,

A lot of the people during this event were really nice, and they didn't loot and destory the items. Many tried to be careful about KS'ing too. I was only KS'ed twice, and that's not bad. Instead ruining the loot that wasn't for their class they let someone around them try to loot it, or if no one was around, they gave locs over shout and ooc. It's nice to know that so many people in a zone can work together. They even held out on killing the boss mob right away, and the WC GM event lasted most of a day and until 4am game time. :)

The only other druid or general priest class item I heard of that dropped during that event was the Pegasus Feathered Headdress. That's cute too! But I have an Othmir Fur Cap, so as cute as that item sounds, I'm glad I got the belt. :)

The pure wisdom casters are often referred to as the 'Priest' classes as many items in the game are usable by just those three. They also need the same gems for their velious quest armor pieces and are lumped into the 'Priest' category. Necros, mages, wizzys, and chantys are referred to as the 'Caster' classes, etc. Hope this helps clarify things a bit for ya )

What level mobs are these dropping off of. I have been in North ro, and West Commons with a couple of teen level characters, and found the mobs there to be reasonably easy to kill. However, I'd love this belt for my cleric, who is a lvl 31. Is that high enough for the EK events. I have read that they are going on through Nov. 5th, and wwould like to get one of these.

# Nov 01 2001 at 8:28 PM Rating: Default
Nice belt. Got one, and they seemed to be dropping at reasonable rate. Seemed to be random drop off no particular mob.

We had 206 players in EK during the peak on Vazaelle. Was a great event, our guild had a blast. We did the Essence quest. Unfortunatley lots of greedy people out and when one person finished the quest and returned the zone to normal, several of the loot whores got mad and said some unpleasant things.

It's a shame so many missed the fun of the whole event because they were out for loot. Hope for more events like this. (Rabid turkeys in OT next?)
RE: Got one
# Nov 02 2001 at 7:29 PM Rating: Decent
It is fun to raid and do different things, but people also like to think they're equipped to solo.

If you missed last years event (i did), and every other gm event (i did) and dont' have an uber guild to go to plane of growth every weekend (i dont) or dragon hunts, then yea, you'd probably be pretty upset too.

Unless you're one of those casual, kicked back, essentially lazy non-effectual people in the western world who says "who cares" to everything, then yea, I guess then you'd probably not mind wasting the evening and missing a once a year opportunity to get something nice.

If I was there and some guild quested and ended a week long Gm event that has been held ONE time, I'd be pissed to the point of probably trying to find something to train you with. Sorry, but not everyone is out to just ***** around for the evening. Some of us like to do things apart from what it is that you do.

"Unless you're one of those casual, kicked back, essentially lazy non-effectual people in the western world who says "who cares" to everything"?????? WHat the hell is your problem? "people in the western world"? What are you, British or something? Do you think all of the lazy people of the world gather around the Americas or something? There are "casual, kicked back, essentially lazy non-effectual people" in the ENTIRE WORLD, except for maybe Pakistan or someplace where people make basketballs at the age of 2 for a dollar a year or whatever. That would be called a 'sweeping generalization', try NOT to use them in your speech.

Except that it is not a one time event that ends when the quest is done. When the zone returns to normal, there is apporximately a two hour wait, then it begins again. Everquest site says it goes through Nov. 5. People really do whine too much when the events end. I mean, after all there is some high level stuff on the top mobs, and the high level players should get their chance too. As long as they don't end it too fast. Ours went on for at least 4 hours in EK last night.
