I have have a Hopebringer and the heals off this bring you nearly no aggro. I'd definitely go with the Flaged Prayer Mace as it has almost the same ratio as the Greateblade of Chaos but is 1hb, so you can equip a good shield. I'm drooling for one of these.
I'm still contemplating what is better, Hopebringer or Flanged Prayer Mace. Hopebringer would keep aggro better because it's proc is a group heal which causes more aggro but this is more dmg per swing which also causes more aggro. It's a hard decision because not all aggro comes from procs OR dmg. oh well I'd use both lol, really it comes down to whether you'd want to use 1hs or 1hb.
Yup, does 1 damage, even on a crit blast...With I guess a -1000 resist modifier on it. (Which would make sense, mine has never been resisted that I recall.)
Along with that, it's 150 point group heal, as...well, you've probably already felt more than once from mine by now. :p But I still wanted to call you a dork, just the same.
And the truth lies in all these posts. It is a 1 point dd, with a group heal recourse. The end result is that you get the group heal benefits without the aggro, as you only get the aggro from the 1dd "blast". This is a mixed blessing if you are a paladin, but one I happily take. In many raid situations, you just couldn't take the risk of the aggro swings from randomly casting group heals. So if the original poster is having trouble deciding because he'll miss the aggro from the group heal, in fact the Flanged Prayer Mace will generate more aggro from the damage/swings, and the only aggro you'll lose is from the 1dd procs.
And yes, if you have spell casting fury, the 1 point dd can crit for... 1. It makes you feel very tough.
