This item doesnt drop. It is a major time sink quest. there are 2 realistic ways one completes this quest. Either they are in a guild that is farming HoT which means they need to collect the symbols + tear as per how that guild does the loot to include random cause I seen many guilds in HoT using 1-1k rolls there. Or they get one very strong crew together and they get the parts themselves leaving only Doz as a problem to get the tear(s). All theese quests are all/all and whom ever decides to spend the time to do them deserves the item. Now if you are in a guild that allowed you to loot symbols but when it comes time for the turn in and one has an item to MQ if that guild says this item goes to so and so you are not in a good guild at all. This neck item will blow away all other neck items until you get into VT or better for melee. Casters may have another perspective since they can get nice stat neck pieces with FT/Mana pres or focus effects on them. How ever if you are in a guild that is going to be heading to VT in the futre I would just hold out for Talisman of Van Kerra.

The usual best for, manure... and as usual is best for EVERY class that doesn thave better since EVERY class can wear it.
I know my 65 Beast would kill have a 35AC neckpiece, let alone add in 15Sta/100HP/100Mana thats actually 160HPs.... Tell me again just how this would be "better" for a MONK, than say a Beast/SK/Pally/Ranger? ALL of which could use 35AC/15Sta/160HPs every bit as much AND make use of the 100Mana....
In reality if your trying to put this on whom would this be truely BEST for, a Monk would be somewhere on down the list no higher than 6th since they cant use the 100mana, and ALL the other plate/chain classes and Beast can use the other stats every bit as much.
Don't forget clers. Especially tanking clers, or, even moreso, High Elven clers. My cleric suffers from such low str that he struggles to carry his own weight and armor, let alone any loot. Just today I gated to Kelethin to bank, and I was weighed down so much it took me what seemed like at least 5 minutes to get there and put THREE THINGS in there. THREE THINGS encumbered me. Now I have enough for ONE of them.
I'd love this little thing. And, of course, I could always use more mana, and the HP would be awesome for when I'm aggro'd on. Pally likely first, Cleric second :P Ranger down low, cuz they need more dex for da bows.

I have three words for you....Weight reduction bags. Either save your money and go buy a "bag of the tinker" or three, work on a tradeskill, get your trophy, and have unlimitted no rents (plus one permanent one with a SUPER SIMPLE turn in upstairs in the bazaar npc vendor building), do quest for rallic pack and either buy or farm the evil eye bag and/or buddy up with a halfling who makes the other 100% weight reduction bag (who's name escapes me at the moment, because I literally just woke up).
You post this saying pure Melee should be the last to do this quest, but you have yet to see the item. It has had 100 Endurance added to it. Now all these flames about a Warrior getting an Item with Mana are Mute cause most of said Items now have an equal amount of Endurance to them. And putting Endurance on a Caster is a waste of Endurance just as Mana is wasted on pure Melee. And also note, that this Item is Neck/Wrist wearable. This is far better than my Ornate Bracer and will be on my wrist tomarrow when I do my turn ins.
lol. . .i don't know much about the necklace's around but i'm still wearing my vel saph neck. i'd gladly trade the 8int for the 100mana and all those other nice stats. oh well nice item
Atmos, dont know about Monks and the way theyre weapons work but as a ranger I get a DMG Bonus on both Primary and Secondary. In addition Rangers get a Bonus from Primary..not sure of the exact bonus, never stop playing enough to waste time parsing =) No Flame here, just a comment.
mainhand swings every time the delay recycles. for wurmy that would be every 4 seconds. PERIOD.
Dual wield is checked every time the pffhand delay recycles, for lammy thats every 1.9 seconds. PERIOD.
so in 4 seconds you will swingonce with the wurm and twice with the lammy (if you dont fail on dual wield check). PERIOD.
offhand IS NOT LINKED to mainhand. it WILL swing, even if your mainhand misses or isnt recycled yet. PERIOD.
try it out: take a fire beetle eye in mainhand, and a weapon in offhand. go fight something green. your weapon WILL SWING, even though your mainhand will NOT cause it holds a fire beetle eye.

Sorry, little brother, you're completely wrong. At first your offhand IS hooked to your primary, but once you get higher skill in dual wield, the hands become unhooked. The general rule of thumb is delay over anything in the main, and ratio in the off. You see, you need to play the percentages. Every hit you make with your primary hand ONLY gets a damage bonus. This means that a 1/5 weapon in the primary would smack the crap out of any other weapon in existence. In the offhand however, a damage bonus is not added, so you want the best ratio you can get there. This is one of the reasons Wurmslayer isn't quite as godlike as it seems. It may be 25/40, yes, which is an excellent ratio, but it's primary only. This means that although you hit hard, you will actually do more damage overall with a Lamentation which is 9/19, or a Jade Mace which is 9/18 in your primary hand. Just clearing up any confusion and helping the generally uninformed. Laters.
First off, the whole linked idea seems deeply flawed. If I understand correctly, if the hands are linked, your offhand can only swing when the primary cycles. However, if you were to put, say, a Jade Mace offand (9/18), with an Icetooth Claw primary (11/29), you'd notice the mace swing independently of the claw. If they were linked, you would never see the mace swing without the claw also swinging.
Secondly, the term damage bonus is thrown around a lot by people using it in two different ways. The damage bonus shown on a weapon (post-50) is only applied to the primary hand. At level 51, all 1H weapons have a damage bonus of 9, so you'll never hit for less than 10 with a weapon in the primary hand (a hit is for at least 1 damage, 1+9=10). However, you can hit for 1 with an offhand weapon, even though the damage bonus is also listed on that weapon. The other (incorrect) way people use the term damage bonus is in the calculation for damage. For example, at level 30 an 11 damage weapon may max at 39 (give or take a couple points for STR). However, at level 49 that weapon may max at 49. Don't flame me, that was just an example for illustration purposes. No damage bonus is applied, per se. Your maximum damage is simply raised a bit as you gain levels.

If you are going to have a 40 dly primary, why have a 9 dmg fast weapon when it will be waiting on the wurm? Go to CoM and get a Shimmering Partisan or something (17dmg, 39dly, 20 dex, 10str offhand piercer +saves)

Posted:Sep 23 2001 at 11:35 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) actually there is no such thing as offhand delay...the roll to see if your duel weild and your duel attack are rolled each time your prime hand swings...a wurm in prime and lammy in offhand is a great example of this as you will only see the dagger peirce once the wurm has slashed....just try it if you dont belive me....get some high damage/worthless delay weapon in you offhand and a low delay weapon in your prime...you will see you do much more damage and are much faster

It was once a common drop, but just for short time(not sure if any ever looted it), and for some reason they nerfed it, long long time ago. I hope Verant will take this cool Monk item back, than I want to farm it, and sell for 10k at east commons. I am sure, i will get the richest person of norrath.

Sure the +100hp and +100mana is very nice, but the 6all tali makes up for quite a few stats my other +mana gear lacks (and I think as of last night I finally got my +mana over 500). :)

Maybe I am seeing things wrong, but I am reading that this neck piece has 35 AC. 35! That is a HUGE difference to a Warrior or other tank-type character. 35AC for a neck slot item is god-like.
Kind of like those 35AC caster sleeves off of the boss in ToV.

That means a wizard can put it to JUST as good of use as a warrior. You know, if you think by class, then you are blind to the fact that AC is one of the most important stats in the game, if not, THE most important stat. Even for a strict caster. When you say that a warrior can put it to use, take a good look at exactly what classes Verant says can use it, and when I speak my mind abd when I roll on the item... keep your keyboard in check... you'll end up on my ignore list real fast that way, especially with an arguement as lame as 'warriors need!' More like a starri eyed shout of PHAT LEWT!

Because Uber Guilds would have all their twinks equiped with ToV/Skyshine/Kael Quest pieces.
Maybe it's just me, but heavy twinking is unbalancing enough with level 6's running around in Crafted/Cobalt w/ a Wurmy for Pri and a Lammy in Sec. Yes, I have seen this.
In addition to what TheUnnamedOne said, a wurmslayer is a horrible weapon for a very low level twink. Due to the damage cap at level 6 a WS would be the equivalent of a 10/40 weapon.
You must have vision beyond anyone else then because Warriors don't get Dual Weild until level 13 and the only class that gets it at or before level 6 is a monk.
You did NOT see a level 6 with a Wurmslayer in primary and a Lamentation in secondary. That is unless warriors get Dual Weild at level 6 now or Monks can use 1HS weapons formerly unavailable to them.
If you're going to tell a story to make a point, at least get your facts straight first. Don't exagerate so much. Crafted/Cobalt with a Wurmslawyer OR Lamentation at level 6 would have been plenty.
Either that or go back and edit your post to read:
"Maybe it's just me, but heavy twinking is unbalancing enough with level 13's running around in Crafted/Cobalt w/ a Wurmy for Pri and a Lammy in Sec. Yes, I have seen this."

Actually this particular item is quested by gathering items from mobs in the East wing (Halls of Testing). You don't need to go to North wing at all, and for someone on Dragon Faction (to be able to do this quest) you really don't want to be killing in North wing and taking -CoV faction hits. For this item I might even consider becoming a dragon hugger for a few weeks ... nah.
